Monday Bloopers #1 – Lord of the Flies

Monday Bloopers #1 – Lord of the Flies

Greetings Humans! Welcome to our first Monday Bloopers. We got the idea for Monday Bloopers from Melissa’s Mochas, Mysteries and Meows. You should really go and visit her, she has the most gorgeous feline blog ever! I think we can do a few more feline posts. I work my fluffy ass off helping my Mommy with all her bookish chat, I think I need a bit more post recognition too. *Where on earth do I get this cat??  Melissa hosts a fun monthly meme called Pet Photo Fail Blog Hop. I guess the idea is to post a photo that didn’t work as well as the shooter anticipated it would. *Camera shooter.    Love the idea, but I can only see one serious problem here. Have you ever seen an ugly photo of me? Even with my bum up in the air and everyone seeing my bloomers, I’m still quite adorable. Don’t you think? Nothing in the rules say that you are only allowed to post photos of cats. I’m going to dig through my Mommy’s photo archive and find all those funny doggy bloopers. My eldest brother, Hercules, is a gorgeous yellow lab and he is 12 years old today! […]

The Sunday Post #40

The Sunday Post #40

Greetings you all! Can we not talk about my Mommy’s week, please? It was horrible. Covid scares, open battlefields at school, broken nails (yes, that is traumatic), a crappy book. The unhappiness is real here. But the worst was the Covid scare. One of my Mommy’s Teachers in the Special Needs section at school contracted the dreadful virus and all hell broke lose. And that’s after all necessary protocols were followed. For those of you who are, or were in teaching, you will know – it takes only teacher to tip the carefully packed apple cart. Where are the Centaurs when you need them. No vaccines in sight here in good old South Africa for mere mortals like teachers, so school got closed until tomorrow. At least my Mommy’s Teacher Friend is not as sick as so many others were and she’s expected back at work in another week’s time. Let’s talk books, reality sucks. Adding to the Litter   So glad we figured out that Reading Reality is now hosting Stacking the Shelves. Thanks to everyone who pointed us in the right direction!   We got two new books for review from Lola’s Blog Tours. We love reviewing for Lola, the books […]

Weekend Book Friends #19

Weekend Book Friends #19

Greetings Humans! It’s Friday and my Mommy is at home! Yea for me! But she doesn’t look all that happy about it. One of my Mommy’s Teachers in the special needs section at school, tested positive for Covid and seeing that no-one at school is eligible for a vaccine yet, school is closed until Monday. I really don’t get why she’s upset about it. She can read, she can blog, she can cuddle with me. What’s the problem? But I understand that humans have very complex emotions and I’ll just sit here with a sweet and sympathetic look on my face. Yes, you do deserve a brand new book, Mommy. Yes, the wine and chocolates are also well deserved. This is her brand new book and she can’t wait to start reading it later today:   The New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of The Huntress and The Alice Network returns with another heart-stopping World War II story of three female code breakers at Bletchley Park and the spy they must root out after the war is over. 1940. As England prepares to fight the Nazis, three very different women answer the call to mysterious country estate Bletchley Park, where the best minds in Britain train […]

Wondrous Words Wednesday – Lackadaisical

Wondrous Words Wednesday – Lackadaisical

It’s Wednesday and time for Wondrous Words Wednesday. It’s going to be a quick post, because it’s actually very late at night on Tuesday and this will go out as a pre-scheduled post. It’s chaos in my Mommy’s world. One of her teachers tested positive for Covid today and she needs to make plans as cleverly as Puss in Boots. As you know, she works with special needs kiddies and closing the whole centre down is not that easy! Thankfully she can escape into the blog a bit. And snuggle with me.   Wondrous Words Wednesday was first created by Kathy over at Bermuda Onion Blog and is now proudly hosted by yours truly. Wondrous Words Wednesday is a weekly meme where you can share new words that you’ve encountered, or spotlight words you love.  Feel free to get creative!  No rules apply here, just share any or all the lovely or new words you’ve encountered over the last fortnight.    Tips and ideas: Don’t go pull the Dictionary down from the shelf. Use words you came across in a book, a TV show, Google, a pamphlet, social media, doctor’s room, classroom – the possibilities are endless If you want to share […]

Friday Fives #5 with Book Blogger Hop and Friendly Fill-Ins

Friday Fives #5 with Book Blogger Hop and Friendly Fill-Ins

Greetings Humans! Yes, yes – I know it’s Saturday already and we are a bit late for a Friday post. But yesterday was dreadfully cold and rainy, so when my Mommy came home from school, we just snuggled up with a book. Until she had to be back at school. They had a fun-run this morning and she had to be at school at before the crack of dawn. We are still going to link up with Friday Fives and Book Blogger Hop and then we want to join a new weekly meme today. Because cats. No other reason is necessary. For our firs link today, we link up with  Connect Five hosted by the BookDate. Connect Five is really very easy – just pick 5 books that are connected in some or other way. Theme, cover, genre, author – you name it. As you know, my Mommy is a teacher/librarian and this week Mommy decided to show you the five series’ that are the most popular at school:   1. Basically any of the series or by Enid Blyton. Famous Five, Secret Seven, Amelia Jane. All of them are still very popular. The same with Roald Dahl. Not a series no, but still […]

The new Mary Higgins Clark in 10 sentences (Ghostwriter, Elza)

Greetings you all! We didn’t do a Top Ten Tuesday in a couple of weeks. Work work work…. But when my Mommy saw this week’s prompt from Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl she had a brainwave. The prompt for today is Book Titles that are complete sentences.  When my Mommy grew up, Mary Higgins Clark was the ultimate queen of crime and to this day, she will still pick up a MHC novel and enjoy it. My aunt Hannelize, has just about all the Mary Higgins Clark books printed. But have you ever noticed how many of her book titles are complete sentences? You can write a novel only with the book titles! Let me proof it: It was Christmas Eve and the De Winters family had a fun-filled, dashing through the snow, day. All three De Winters children went to bed early to make sure Santa Claus don’t pass them by. We all know that he sees you when you’re sleeping and won’t leave any presents if you are still awake. Just before midnight, there was a cry in the night. Mrs. De Winters jumped out of bed and ran to the nursery. It was empty. “Where are the children?“, she screamed in […]

The Sunday Post #39

The Sunday Post #39

Greetings Humans! How was your week? We very almost didn’t do a Sunday Post, because we don’t really have that much to say. But  then my Mommy sorted out her Book Club books this morning and we realized we actually have quite the shelf to stack! The rest of our week was uneventful. School is pretty much the way you expect it to be – naughty children, stubborn colleagues, rain cancelling the sport schedule, sick kids. Same old story. Let’s rather talk books. Adding to the Litter Before I show you all our lovely new addition for Book Club, let me just quickly give you a recap on how our Book Club works: Every month, all the members pay an amount that goes to the host for that month. The host then buys books of her choice for the amount received. You are allowed to buy whatever you want, the books will be yours in the end after all. Most of the ladies get to buy around 3 – 5 books per month (books are really expensive in SA). But if you know my Mommy, you will know that buying books is hobby all in itself for her. She will […]

Weekend Book Friends #18

Weekend Book Friends #18

Greetings Humans! It’s Friday and my Mommy isn’t working today. Therefore, we have time to do a Weekend Book Friends and spend the rest of the day reading and relaxing. Scrap that. She and Daddy is going to the big town a couple of miles away to go her some new ballet shoes. Crazy lady, I know. The book she’s currently reading is also a bit crazy, but gosh it’s sooooo good! I can’t wait for them to come back this afternoon so that we can finish this one! Don’t you just love the vintage cover?   #1 bestselling author Stephen King returns with a brand-new novel about the secrets we keep buried and the cost of unearthing them. The son of a struggling single mother, Jamie Conklin just wants an ordinary childhood. But Jamie is no ordinary child. Born with an unnatural ability his mom urges him to keep secret, Jamie can see what no one else can see and learn what no one else can learn. But the cost of using this ability is higher than Jamie can imagine – as he discovers when an NYPD detective draws him into the pursuit of a killer who has threatened […]

The Sunday Post #38

The Sunday Post #38

Greetings you all! It’s Mother’s Day, so today is all about my Mommy. It’s normally about me, but today I’ll take a backseat and just talk about her and the wonder that she is. I always have to wonder what the heck she’s doing, where the heck she is, why the heck she doesn’t feed me. She’s a real wonder. All jokes aside, My Mommy actually really is the greatest cat Mom ever. Even when she’s had a hectic week, like the past one, she still always picks me up first when she comes home and then we both feel better. I love sitting in that vantage point and see how desperate the rest of the family also wants some attention. The do get some eventually. How was your week? Scratching the Blog Pole We didn’t acquire any new books this week. My wonderful Mommy just went to the Book Shop and put a pile of books aside so long for Book Club. She will go and pick them up later this week. Although she says she needs to only pick a few, I know she’s gonna take them all. We’ll show them off next week! Have you guys noticed […]
