It’s the very last day of 2021 and I can almost not believe that my Mommy managed to complete her Alphabet Reading Challenge with only a couple of hours to spare. Hooray! Bring out the champagne!
When she said she’s going to do an Alphabet Reading Challenge the beginning of this year, I wasn’t much fazed. 26 Books isn’t that hard a challenge. But then she had to go and bring in a twist, just to make sure my nerves will get in a knot. First of all, she decided to do the 27 letter Alphabet. The one with the ampersand in. And just to make sure I will really become a nervous wreck, she decided to read two books for each letter of the alphabet. One for the title and one for the author. Good Grief, woman! You really don’t want me to grow old with you?
I took a few deep breaths and decided that 54 books might be manageable. There’s however, one very, very, huge, problem with my Mommy. She constantly gets distracted by other books and lose track of the task at hand.
But if I look back today at what was accomplished, I guess putting some fire under her ass, proof to be very effective. Not only did we manage to complete the Alphabet Challenge, we exceeded it with 25 books!
That’s a personal record for her and I am absolutely convinced it’s all because of me. As you know, I’ve joined the household in November 2019 and I have been her constant, loyal reading companion for 13 months now. If it wasn’t for me cuddling with her and a book as much as possible, I don’t think she would have managed this at all.
Okay, okay – I think starting the blog again and getting inspired from all of you, might have helped it along too. But just a bit.
We still have a couple of posts to do today, so here’s our updated and final Alphabet Reading Challenge for 2020:
We don’t have a New Year’s Party tonight, we are back under strict Lockdown Level 3 Regulations. Therefore, we are just going to update the blog this afternoon and sign up for the new reading challenge. I’ve heard a rumour that my Mommy is planning to sign up for more than one challenge next year and the aim is 80 books. Now where’s that champagne?
We hope that you also managed to complete your reading challenge(s) for 2020 and that you are excited for the new ones to come in 2021.
Lots of Love,
Ooh, this is fantastic – it makes me curious to look back at my list and see how many from A-Z i actually have on there.
Lynn 😀
Thanks Lynn! I've reached a point during the year where I got just a bit fed-up with the challenge, but I'm still glad I pushed through!
