The Sunday Post #74

Greetings you guys! Another week just flew by and here we are again at Sunday wondering where the heck the week has gone. How are you guys doing? We are good! I’d say we are about 97% done with the renovations. There are still a few things that need to be done. The big clean up is starting this week and I can see that it’s going to be a bit of a challenge. We are starting with water shedding tomorrow. Between the hours of 10:00 – 16:00, we will have not water. Monday to Friday. Our dam levels are at critical levels and we need rain desperately. Let’s not go into the politics and rather just pray for deliverance. And rain. Faith like potatoes and this little guy. Adding to the Litter If only the rains want to fall as much as the books fell from the sky this week. I am not going to make a graphic now, but we promise to give a fully updated post on all the new books for Book Club. It will be my Mommy’s turn to host in July, so she went and bought the books she thinks they would like to […]

The Sunday Post #73

Greetings you guys! How have you been doing? Our apologies for not saying hi last weekend. My Mommy decided to start moving the house back to a livable state and we haven’t even opened the blog. Or a book for that matter. The plan was that all renovations should have been done on Friday so that we can start unpacking a bit more. Alas…. Not that it’s all that bad, it’s only a few minor things that are left and one major project – My Mommy’s brand new home library…. As you can see, only the one wall’s shelves are done, the back wall’s is at the carpenters, but the alcoves haven’t even been started with. *Sigh*. This was all she wanted from all the renovations and now everything is just about done, except for this room. I really don’t get people’s priorities. Shouldn’t the library have been the first project to complete?? But still, we are giving hope and faith a fair chance here. My Mommy has school holidays in three weeks time and we will hopefully be able to unpack our stacks of books then. Talking about stacks of books, no new stacks or singletons added over the […]

The Sunday Post #72

Greetings you guys! Oh how I’ve missed you!! I bet you’ve missed me terribly as well. I haven’t spoken to you guys in 3 whole weeks. Two weeks ago, my Mommy had to do The Sunday Post as I had my tail in a knot and refused to talk to her or Daddy for days. I honestly thought it would work and they would just give in and come begging for attention. But do you know what they did??? They packed and went on holiday. Can you believe that! I have to be honest, I got the fright of my life and thought they might never come back. Luckily they did and I will never, ever behave like the spoiled brat I am, again. They said they had a wonderful time in Mauritius. They brought us all some lovely presents and they enjoyed the island life tremendously. My Mommy says the only thing that she didn’t like, is all the stray animals. Cats and dogs alike. I guess I should really start counting my blessings a bit more… Here’s a few fun pics of their holiday! I don’t need to tell you that she didn’t have a lot of time […]

The Sunday Post #71

Hi there! I hope you guys are all doing well? Just from my greeting tone, I guess you notice it’s not Elza chatting up a storm with you today. Nope, good old boring Mommy Mareli here. No idea what’s up with the little shat the last couple of days, but she’s been as moody as only a spoiled rotten cat can be. My husband scolded her earlier this week for scratching the furniture and she threw her tail in the wind and refuses to sleep on the bed at night, she just curls herself in a pathetic bundle on the couch (yes I do tuck her in with her favorite blanky). Except for feeding time, we hardly see her at all. I do wonder when it will be a good time to let her now that she will have to stay with the babysitter as from Friday again. Although, she might welcome it this time and perhaps she would have forgiven us for our numerous trespasses when we return from our holiday. We are going to Mauritius!!! Whoo hoo!!! Rather on a whim here, my in-laws are there for three weeks and asked us to join them for the last […]

The Sunday Post #70

Greetings you guys! It’s May – it’s May – the lusty month of May! Whatever that may mean. At least we have some sunshine today, but otherwise it’s nothing by lusty here with us. Daddy has COVID and Mommy is terribly grumpy. She actually only had a two day work week and was looking forward to just reading and relaxing for a couple of days while Daddy takes control of the renovations and the contractors. Alas. Daddy is in isolation and Mommy is still doing the chicken run. Daddy is luckily not too sick and I’m rather more concerned about the grumpy chicken runner. So let’s rather not expect a lengthy Sunday Post, but just a quick recap of the last week. As you know, we are not very good with monthly wrap-ups, but we are very proud to say that we’ve managed 23 posts in April. Good grief. Not even I know how we’ve accomplished that. Our May calendar is still a bit of a secret code that needs to be solved. We’ll do it tomorrow.  I know we have a couple of books in for review, but still need to update that as well. A book blitz we […]

The Sunday Post #69

Greetings you guys! How was your week? Can you believe we are heading into the last week of April? Good grief! Our week flew by, but it wasn’t all that bad. It’s just dreadfully cold here and my Mommy doesn’t like that. Last week, a few of you asked me about the diamond painting my Mommy so loves to do. There’s nothing much to it, to be honest. If you ask me, I’d say it’s a rather brain-dead exercise. I think that’s exactly what my Mommy likes about it. She doesn’t have to think very hard or concentrate on anything but listening to her audiobook. Just stick those little sparkly dots on the correlating space, listen to your book and wait for the end result. It’s usually worth it! We had a good reading week as well and got some great books in the mail and by clicking away on Amazon’s free books for World Book Day. Adding to the Litter We’ve received a new book for review from Netgalley and our very fist physical book in the mail. Excitement overload! My Mommy will be taking part in a readalong this upcoming week with a few other South African Instagrammers. […]

The Sunday Post #68

Greetings you guys! I trust you are all enjoying a wonderful Easter Weekend? My Mommy is terribly upset, her favorite easter eggs are nowhere to be found in our little town. Easter without you easter eggs just don’t feel right at all and something is definitely amiss. So now we spend our time reading, blogging and diamond painting. We had a very good week here on the blogosphere and my Mommy actually deserves those easter eggs. We didn’t even buy any new books or downloaded any for free. We also didn’t get any new ones for review, but that is also okay. We are just starting to gain control over our TBR and ARC lists. The only thing we don’t have control over, are the easter eggs. Scratching the Blog Pole Monday – Book Review: Trouble in Paradise (The Hardy Boys: Undercover Brothers #12) by Franklin W. Dixon. This was the first review written by one of my library students. Thank you for all the encouragement last week and for the support! The kids are so excited about this and I already have a whole stack of reviews to use. Tuesday – Top Ten Tuesday: A Dozen Authors We Still Want to […]

The Sunday Post #67

Greetings you guys! How are you all doing? It does appear as if summer is really over here in SA and I love all the fluffy blankets and snuggling with Mommy and Daddy. Mommy doesn’t like the colder weather though. She’s been a bit moody the last couple of days, but she’ll get over it eventually. School started on Monday and in the blink of an eye, our week was over. Mommy is very excited for the new term and the kids are school are also now used to having actual library classes. Only 8% of schools in South Africa have functioning libraries and my Mommy is very happy to be one of very, very few school librarians who still try to make these classes fun and relatable for the students. This week they had so much fun with building book stacks spelling our school’s name: Victory Christian School. The kids are also very interested in our blog, of course I am the main attraction here, so my Mommy came up with a very clever idea. She is busy creating a page that will link here on our blog where the kids can write their very own book reviews. They are […]

The Sunday Post #66

Greetings Humans! How has your week been? Our week wasn’t all that bad and the building project seemed to have stopped breeding at last. Now we just need to bring all the little projects to life and to completion. And try not go sound as crazy as last week. The only thing that added another brick in our wall of insanity this week, was the fact that we were without internet for 3 days. Unbelievable how dependent you humans are to Greek Theatre. Ever noticed that the Wi-Fi signal symbol looks quite similar to the layout of Greek Theatre arenas? Just comes to proof that through the ages, humans love to gather together and be entertained. Pretty much like dogs. Cats are content to sleep all day and to be left in peace. Adding to the Litter Acquiring new books is one of my Mommy’s favorite forms of entertainment. Here’s what’s new on our shelves: Cragside: A 1930’s Murder Mystery by MJ Porter – For review from The History Quill Book Club Drawn by the Current by Jocelyn Green – For review from Netgalley Murder on Port Meadow by Annie & Maria Dalton – BookBub daily deals My Mommy also has Book Club […]

The Sunday Post #65

Greetings you guys! How are you all doing? I’m just quickly dropping in to say hi and that we miss you all! My Mommy has been on holidays (why can’t we scratch that anymore on WordPress?? Where’ that fun button that just drew a line through what you didn’t intend to say??) / break from school for about 10 days now and it’s been anything but a vacation… Remember a couple of months ago we told you about the renovations coming up at our house? Well, the renovations now turned into a full-scale building project of a rather extensive nature. Let’s make the garage double! Yes, let’s do that. Oh, while we’re at it, why not build an extra room attached to the garage? Yes! Let’s do it! Oh wait, the new garage can actually be a direct passage into the house. How awesome is that! The only thing we need to do, is add a new staircase. Wow! But wait! Seeing that the new staircase will be part of the garage, it needs to be in a fire-proof enclosed thingy. Whatever. No biggy, we can just as well turn the staircase in a little wine cellar then as well. […]
