The Sunday Post #53

Happy Halloween you guys! Gosh, I’m proud of myself. I didn’t hide away at all over the frightening month of October. I stayed cool, calm and collected and only slipped away last night when Mommy and Daddy were watching Things Heard and Seen. Extra nibbles for me! How was your October month? November is a breath away and then we can all start thinking about Christmas and my Mommy needs to start planning how to keep me out of the Christmas tree. How was your passed week? Ours were terribly busy as my Mommy had a fun Book Day at school on Friday and you know things like that don’t just happen by themselves! She asked the local Book Shop to come and set up shop at school and negotiated for some serious discounted prices. It was a marvelous success and everyone had loads of fun. The kids (and staff) could dress up as their favorite bookish characters and the creativity was amazing! My Mommy received stacks of new books for the library and she should actually be going to school to go and put it on the system. Only problem is that she came home on Friday with the […]

The Sunday Post #52

Greetings Humans! Spring once again decided to allude us the last 2 two days. It’s cold and rainy and miserable out there. Perfect weather for Fraterfest 2021. How’s your Fraterfest Read-a-thon going? We are having loads of fun with one book, one bag of speckled eggs, one packet of mini cupcakes and 3 cups of hot chocolate done. How was your week? School and Ballet classes started with a bang on Monday and we didn’t do much more this week than trying to get back into rhythm. It is good to be back yes, but my Mommy’s nerves are wrecked. The last term of the year is terribly short and there are heaps of work that still need to be cramped in. If I was her, I would have just thrown in the towel now and read the remainder of the year. Next year she can try again. Adding to the litter We got two books for review this week. Two completely different books, but that’s the way we like it. The Dangerous Promise by Merryn Allingham is just my Mommy’s cup of tea. Best part of all, it’s the first in a series. Little Wanderers: The Everlasting Seasons is […]

The Sunday Post #51

Greetings you Guys! How are you all on this gorgeous Sunday? My apologies for being absent for the last two weeks, but as you can see, it was well worth it. Welcome to ElzaReads.com!!! I know, I know, it’s fabulous. Of course it’s all my ideas and craftiness. Okay, that’s stretching the truth a bit far. Even for a cat. As we’ve told you 3 weeks ago, we’ve decided to migrate to WordPress and to ask the lovely Ashley @ Nosegraze if we can please host with her. (I have no idea what she looks like, but she has to be pretty and I’m sure she has a gorgeous cat as well) That was one of the best decisions we have ever made. Ashley took care of about 80% of everything you currently see and the rest was done by me. Okay, what’s wrong with me today. I just can’t seem to pull off a lie. No, it wasn’t me. But it wasn’t Mommy either. So there. My Mommy has this beautiful colleague that she works with (I do know what she looks like and she really is very pretty with the most gorgeous eyes) who is brilliant with computers […]

The Sunday Post #50

Hi there you guys! Just a quick message from us today. We are on holidays and couldn’t be happier about it. After a long and strenuous term, you would think my Mommy wants to do nothing but sleep and read all day. Apparently, she is done with that already. She only finished one book from Thursday, but she did sleep quite a lot. I did not. The sun is out and spring appears to finally be here! So I played outside and chased a few blooming flowers, pestering grasshoppers and squealing birds. My mommy does have a list of things she wants to do this holiday: Also play in the garden and chase flowers, grasshoppers and birds Paint the ceilings (Daddy will have to fix the mess. I bet you) Revamp the main bathroom (contractors will do that) Diamond Painting and listen to stacks of audiobooks Start with Christmas planning (don’t look at me like that. She’s a teacher, she needs to do it now) Migrate from Blogger to a different climate If you know my Mommy at all, you would have seen this coming. Remember somewhere in July when Blogger had that huge update and all her pretty graphics […]

The Sunday Post #49

Greetings you guys. Today has been the first day of sunshine this week. It’s been a dark and miserable week and my Mommy has a bit of dark cloud overhead.  We are sure by now just about all of you from across the globe has heard of the tragic events in New Zealand on Thursday. This is such a tragedy. My Mommy actually knows this poor Momma and her husband as they have a mutual friend and also shared the same fertility doctor in  Pretoria, SA. It’s just terrible and we are at a loss of words. Nobody knows what really happened here, let’s just continue to pray for this Mother and Father and hold them in our thoughts. Adding to the Litter We didn’t go overboard again this week. My Mommy went to buy some new books for the kids at school and this one she brought home. She says she wants to read it first! Have any of you read a book on Pigeonhole.com before? My Mommy has done it years ago and then somehow it got lost in between all the apps on her phone. After a recent update, there it was again and lo and behold, her account […]

The Sunday Post #47

Greetings you all! How have you all been the last 7 days? We had a week filled with good books and stories. Does anything else matter? Adding to the Litter          The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune is our brand new Audible read. We can ‘t wait to start reading it. We’ve only heard good things about this book. The Author, Bob Katz, send me an Amazon gift card for his book Third and Long. We were so excited, until we realized that we can’t redeem an Amazon gift card in South Africa. Oh the joys of Africa. But we really liked the premise of the book and decided to just buy it any case. I still then mr Katz was very kind and generous to send us a gift card. We spent some time sorting out our TBR pile this week as well and we are finally under 500 books again. We still need to sort through a couple of pages, but for now, we are quite chuffed with your shelves. Scratching the Blog Pole Top Ten Tuesday – Ten books we so desperately wish we could read for the first time, we sommer read […]

The Sunday Post #46

Greetings you guys! How have you all been? I’m starting to realize that we currently rotate on a fortnightly basis here. Although it really doesn’t feel as if 2 weeks have passed since we last did a Sunday Post. Maybe our clocks are wrong and someone is other than Father Time is actually to blame. We are mostly good here on the Southern part of Africa, the weather has been cold and rainy, but I believe the worst of the cold spells are behind us. Not that we see summer before December in our lovely little coastal town, but still – dressing like the Mitchilin man really isn’t my Mommy’s style at all. Let’s see what happened in our Bookish lives the last 14 days: Adding to the Litter                     Yes! I do know how to click with my paw on BookBub and buy the books I want for myself. The first two are mine and the next two are my Mommy’s. Scratching the Blog Pole Four seems to be our number. It might be because of my 4 adorable fluffy paws. Book Review: The Ghost Camper’s Tall Tales by Elizabeth Pantley ???? Throwback Thursday […]

The Sunday Post #45

Greetings all you lovely Humans! How are you all doing? It’s a beautiful sunny winters day here in SA and we only got out of bed about 10 minutes ago (it’s now 11:30 local SA time). Such bliss. After the horror that was July in our beautiful country, we are very relieved and happy to see the August winds blowing in some gold medals and victory. Let’s hope all those people who looted the flat screen TV’s in July, at least put their lootings to good use and cheered our South African heroes. Hopefully they will be inspired to rather smash world records in future than property that does not belong to them. Morne Steyn kicking SA to victory in Lions Series 2021   Tatjana Schoenmaker smashing world record in 200m breaststroke What’s new in your lives? We didn’t acquire any new books over the last two weeks, so no adding to the litter section today. My Mommy is busy sorting out her Kindle and TBR pile on Goodreads and it does feel good to have a clearer view on the books on our shelves. Let’s hope we can keep it like that! Scratching the Blog Pole We haven’t been […]

The Sunday Post #44

Greetings you all! How was your week? Our week mainly consists of terribly cold weather and Parent/ Teacher meetings. For those of you who are or were in Education over the last couple of years, you know exactly how it went. Like I’ve said, it’s been terribly cold this week with snow on the mountains and nearby areas. Mommy and Daddy didn’t go for the scenic drive, they rather just stayed inside curled up in front of the fire. Oh wait, that was me. But they still didn’t go for the scenic drive. Adding to the Litter                    You guys! There is a new Knitty Kitty Mystery Series Book coming out! As you all now know, Pearl and Kit are my favorite feline sleuths and we can’t wait to start reading! Of course we will review it on this blog. Death takes a break is one of those books my Mommy bought on a lunchbreak at school. I wasn’t there. So let’s hope it proofs to be as much fun as the cover. The Cottage on Ghost Lane was recommended by Ashley @ The Rustic Reading Gal. It sounds soooo good. Those 3 books now tips my Mommy’s TBR pile […]

The Sunday Post #42

Hi there you guys! Oh how we’ve missed you!! I’m sure the feeling is mutual. So what have you all been up to? We’ve been on holidays for the passed 2 weeks, but it’s not as if it’s been very relaxing. Exciting, messy, tiring, creative and clueless, are all better descriptions. We’ve been sorting out cupboards and bookshelves from sunup to sundown. It’s been one heck of a job, but as you can see, we are almost almost done. All our novels and story books are nicely stored away in utter anticipation for the renovations that will land us our very own little library.     As I’m sure you’ve noticed as well, we’ve been rather absent from the blogosphere for the last fortnight. So sorry about that, but we really were rather occupied. As from last week, South Africa is also back on level 4 lockdown. The DELTA strain is causing complete havoc here and the situation is currently dreadful as CNN reports on DELTA outbreak in SA. Vaccine rollouts are still very slow as well and registration for the vaccine is a bit of joke. Apparently a first grader should be able to do it, but you need a […]
