Weekend Book Friends #7

Weekend Book Friends #7

It’s finally the weekend. We’ve had the coldest temperatures recorded in our little town, in years. We even had snow! Yes, we were all snuggled in as much as possible. But let’st talk about that on Sunday. Today is Friday and we want to talk books and chat to our Friday Friends. I’ve had so much fun playing around with The Friday Face-off, that I’ve run out of time with the rest of the Friday posts. So I am not choosing a new book for today, I am going to stick with one that I’ve started last weekend. It’s a Middle Grade, time-travel story about a girl who sounds very much like a few people I know on the blogosphere: “What she treasures above all else are books and she is consumed by them, reading and collecting whatever she can to satisfy her voracious appetite for stories, facts and history”.     Jodie Broom, a 12-year-old girl (almost 13!), is like most girls her age. She loves her friends, music, and is always up for a good adventure. What she treasures above all else are books and she is consumed by them, reading and collecting whatever she can to satisfy […]

It’s the weekend! Gosh, the past two weeks have been a bit rough. So glad it’s Friday and we can just sit back and enjoy our books for a day or two. Sorry we missed you guys last week, but there just wasn’t time to do any posts! Sick cat, sick staff at work, long weekend…. The excuses are endless. We’ll give a full update on Sunday, so check in then again. But we are here today and can’t wait to start our weekend! Let’s start with what book we are going to read over the next 72 hours. This is the third book in the Don Tillman trilogy and if you are looking for a fun, humorous series and love The Big Bang Theory, then this is the series for you!   The Rosie Result is the triumphant final installment of the internationally bestselling series that began with The Rosie Project. Meet Don Tillman, the genetics professor with a scientific approach to everything. But he’s facing a set of human dilemmas tougher than the trickiest of equations. Right now he is in professional hot water after a lecture goes viral; his wife of 4,380 days, Rosie, is about to lose the […]

Weekend Book Friends #5

It’s the weekend and although the sun is shining, it’s dreadfully cold. Perfect weather to move all the week’s work aside and pull the books and weekend shenanigans closer. Daddy’s been away the whole week, so we are eagerly awaiting his return. In the meantime, Mommy is busy wit a bit of Diamond Painting and finishing her audio book so that she can start with one of the books in her Audible folder she just can’t wait to start with. I’ts part of the Hello Sunshine Book Club and we love all those books! Or most of them. Excited for this one:   Erin is a documentary filmmaker on the brink of a professional breakthrough, Mark a handsome investment banker with big plans. Passionately in love, they embark on a dream honeymoon to the tropical island of Bora Bora, where they enjoy the sun, the sand, and each other. Then, while scuba diving in the crystal blue sea, they find something in the water. . . . Could the life of your dreams be the stuff of nightmares? Suddenly the newlyweds must make a dangerous choice: to speak out or to protect their secret. After all, if no one else knows, who […]

Weekend Book Friends #4

It’s Friday and the most beautiful day out there. It’s also the first day my mommy has opened the blog and doing anything one here. It’s been a busy week, but a good one. We’re just about done with Bear Town by Fredrik Backman and we need to find something else to read this weekend.  Mommy got a bit distracted from her Alphabet challenge (Halfway through a reading challenge) the last couple of weeks, she needs to get back on track! She needs to read a book starting with the letter “F” and she just can’t decide which one to read. That’s what Weekend Book Friends are for! YOU can help us decide which one to read! Our options are:    When Atlanta housewife Abigail Campano comes home unexpectedly one afternoon, she walks into a nightmare. A broken window, a bloody footprint on the stairs and, most devastating of all, the horrifying sight of her teenage daughter lying dead on the landing, a man standing over her with a bloody knife. The struggle which follows changes Abigail’s life forever. When the local police make a misjudgment which not only threatens the investigation but places a young girl’s life in danger, the case […]

Weekend Book Friends #3

Greetings Humans! Gosh, can you believe it’s finally Friday? It feels as if at least 50 days have passed since we last had a Friday. My mommy and daddy are  home safely and are both back at work. Or at least Mommy was until Wednesday, and then the school got closed due to Covid 19. Bummer for some, for me it means cuddles. It’s been awfully cold across the country and I’m sure everyone in South African would love to just stay in and cuddle. If only everyone knew how to take good care of fluffy little kittens, they could have all done that. Alas. I came from a shelter where it’s rather obvious that Kitten Care 101 still need to be mastered. Mommy is working online and I am patiently waiting for her to close the laptop and open her book. I like the book that she’s reading now, it makes her ponder quite a lot and she strokes my head while doing so. I’ll just go ahead and share it with our Friday Friends while I wait. For our first stop, we will pay a visit to Gilion over at Rose City Reader to share our Book Beginnings.  Every Friday […]

Weekend Book Friends #2

Greetings Humans! Hooray, hooray! It’s Friday! And Mommy and Daddy are on their way home! Yea!! I am doing a very happy dance here, just to make sure it is out of my system before they arrive back home. As you know, I need to be aloof and nonchalant when they walk through the door. They’ve been away for two weeks and I am not all that sure what Mommy read during the time away. My guess is not much, because what fun is there in reading a book if you don’t have a cute, fluffy white kitten curled up beside you? But on Saturday night and Sunday morning, that’s exactly what we’ll do! Let’s share our weekend reading predictions with a few friends: For our first stop, we will pay a visit to Gilion over at Rose City Reader to share our Book Beginnings.  Every Friday you can link up and share the first sentence of your current read (or the one you plan to devour over the weekend), as well as your initial thoughts and impressions. Hashtags are the one thing I do know on social media, so simply #bookbeginnings so we can find each other. For today’s feature, I am going […]

Weekend Book Friends #1

Greetings! It’s Friday and I have survived my first week of blogging. Mommy says this is way more complicated than she remembers and she needs a weekend of books and wine. I totally agree. She needs to swap her whine for wine and pay more attention to me. Let’s pop those bottles and open those pages and get the weekend reading going.  What better way to spend your weekend than sharing a few glasses and pages with friends. So we will meet up with a couple of Mommy’s old friends. Our first stop is Freda over at Freda’s voice who hosts the Friday 56. Don’t show up empty handed though! Grab a book (Yes, any book. But it might get you to your other Friday activities a bit quicker if you just grab the book you are currently reading) Turn to page 56 or 56% on your e-reader Find a sentence or two (your other Friday activities might determine this) Post it! Remember to post your link on Freda’s Voice and to visit the other guys in the linky. And  last but not least, don’t forget to list the title of the book and the author as well. Today’s feature is an oldie, but still a goodie. […]
