Yes, yes – I am aware that it is Saturday already (believe me, I am far more horror struck than you regarding the quick passing of time)
Meet me on Friday @ Friday 56 for a bit of Book Blogger Hop to kick-start the weekend with Book Beginnings.
- Grab a book (Yes, any book. But it might get you to your other Friday activities a bit quicker if you just grab the book you are currently reading)
- Turn to page 56 or 56% on your e-reader
- Find a sentence or two (your other Friday activities might determine this)
- Post it!
- Remember to post your link on Freda’s Voice and to visit the other guys in the linky.
- And don’t forget to list the title of the book and the author as well.
- It has to be read slowly (to keep in pace with Winnifred)
- There will be more than enough time to run ahead of this book, read a couple of others and still take a nap before I have to get back to this one
- It is advisable to keep it at the bottom of the stack on the bedside table where it will be warm and comfortable (quite similar to a shell)
“I wasn’t asleep. I was resting my face. On the table. Like in kindergarten when the teacher said, settle down, enfants maudits. Heads on desk.”
As soon as I finish this post, I am going to rest my body on the couch and fix my eyes on this novel. Book Blurb:
When Audrey Flowers learns that her father has been hit on the head by a Christmas tree and is in a coma, she knows what she must do: leave Winnifred her tortoise behind, fly home, make a moving speech at his bedside and wait for him to wake up. However, things don’t quite work out that way. Instead Audrey finds herself embarking on an extraordinary journey.
Come, thou tortoise unfolds in a world that is not quite our own; a place where you might just live forever if you can avoid the dangers, and where the truth can be hidden in the armrest of your airline seat.
This may come to you as some surprise. I know it is a long time since we last met, but recently I have been thinking a lot a about the past. Last year I had an operation on a tumour, but the cancer has spread and there is nothing left to be done. I am at peace and comfortable but I would like to thank you for the friendship you showed me all those years ago. Please send my regards to your wife. I still think of David with fondness.
With my best wishes
For those of you who have read Harold Fry, you will know that this is the pink letter that puts Harold on his journey. Really looking forward to reading this one. (I just need to win a race with a tortoise first)

Hi Freda! I haven't started with the new one, will hopefully get to it somewhere this week. Wishing you a lovely week ahead!
A companion novel to Harold Frye? And I still need to read my copy of it. I like the sounds of both books! Happy weekend!
