Ten Quotes from probably the Greatest Detective in the World

Posted May 24, 2022 by elzaread in Top Ten Tuesday / 54 Comments

Greetings you guys! We haven’t done a Top Ten Tuesday post in 3 weeks. First I had my tail in a knot and then Mommy were on holidays. But we are back to play along with Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl for this week’s edition. What a fun freebie prompt we have today – Book Quote Freebie! We’ve done a TTT on our favorite quotes from books (that can be updated I guess), but we didn’t feel like it. Nope, we would rather go with a few memorable quotes from probably the greatest detective in the world. Ever.

I guess we should have added what books these quotes come from… Let’s make it a guessing game! We have tried to add photos from the movies to a few of these quotes, see how many you can match!

For today's Top Ten Tuesday, we share a few memorable quotes from probably the greatest detective in the world. Ever. #herculepoirot #agathachristie #toptentuesday Click To Tweet

Are you a fan of the greatest detective in the world?

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

    • Hi there Anne! I haven’t read any Agatha Christie last year and only one so far this year. The great thing about Agatha Christie’s books are that they remain so classic and I am always ready to pick one up.

Thanks for the visit and sorry for the late reply….

  1. I love detective stories, but I have to admit that I have not read Poirot. I have read some Miss Marple and seen her on TV. It is terrible isn’t it?!

Some great quotes and I love the accompanying pictures!

    Happy TTT

    • No it’s not terribly Emily!! We all read what we want to read and I was about 30 before I really got into Agatha Christie and especially Poirot. There are different reading seasons in our lives and I just think it’s brilliant that some authors can be timeless and seasonless.

      Thanks for visiting us!!

  2. I love Kenneth Brannagh’s Poirot. I especially love his mustache, lol. These are some great quotes. The fourth one reminds me of the beginning of the “Gaston” song in the original Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, except it’s the antithesis to what Gaston says to LeFou, lol.

  3. There are so many people I know who could benefit from hearing this one: “The pursuit of revenge is rarely a good idea.” I can also think of whole political parties, even countries!

This fellow is a great detective. Perhaps the best. Thank you, Mareli, for sharing these quotes with us, especially with those of us who are detective-deficient.

    • Wa ha ha ha!! That is such a brilliant term – detective-deficient.

Yes, I agree about the revenge quote. It truly never benefits anyone!!

I love Poirot as a detective and the way he just THINKS. I liked Punt in Magpie Murders for the same reason as well.

Thanks for stopping by for TTT Debbie!

Those are some wonderful quotes. I especially like the “Do not allow evil into your heart. It will make a home there.”

    • Hi there Diane!

That is my favorite Agatha Christie quote as well! It’s from Death on the Nile and if you’ve seen the book or seen the movies, you will know that Poirot says that to Jacky even before the murder(s). He just knew that she is opening her heart to evil. Loved that.
