Goodness gracious me. I can’t believe how tired I am. Mommy ‘s friend for about 20 years came to visit over the weekend. She brought with her 5 year old little girl. Gorgeous little thing and almost as cute as me, but good grief! Where do the little humans get all their energy from? Of course she was completely infatuated by me, who wouldn’t be? But I am so not used to being awake for like half the day for 3 days in a row.
I really do need to get some beauty sleep now, so let’s try to do this post snappy snappy.
How was your week? The rest of our week was busy with school work and Mommy has been a bit unwell. I had an upset tummy for a couple of days when I was a baby and I remember how horrible I felt. So I do try to give us much love and licks as possible to Mommy. Especially when she is in the bathroom. No human should suffer alone.
Not as much action as intention on the blogging front this week, but we did manage to publish two posts and will really try to do better this upcoming week. Lots of excitement for tomorrow. My mommy’s Book Club will start again for the first time in 6 months. I am sure she will arrive home with stacks of books and a whole lot of inspiration.
Adding to the litter
Does your eye deceive you, or are there really two of the same books? Nothing wrong with your vision. And nothing better than twining with your bestie. Mommy bought one for her and one for her friend.
Scratching the Blog Pole
Tuesday’s Top Ten Tuesday was delicious and Wednesday Wisdom touched a bit on the benefits of wearing a hat. Click on the images if you might have missed the post.
This week, I hope to finally do my Classics Club sign up, Six degrees of separation, Wednesday Wisdom and Throwback Thursday. Reach for the moon…..
On the couch
Reading
Watching
Those little humans really do have very strange taste. Due to the infatuation with me, cats had to be the main characters in everything presented. I sure could have made better selections than The cat in the hat and Smurfs 2. Both of those are not very good depictions of my species.
Mommy and Daddy also watched The One and Only Ivan one evening and Daddy says that if we start crying right through a Disney movie, you know the end is near. Mommy hasn’t read the book and decided that it got deleted from the TBR list. Enough crying, thank you. But it was lovely and I think the Disney people did a good job.
Let it go
It’s always wonderful to spend time with old and dear friends. Mommy and Vicky spend hours talking and chatting and reminiscing while I played with Charlotte. Friends bring perspectives and if you know each other longer than your respective spouses, they provide food for your soul. Not to mention additions to your bookshelves. Friends that read together, stay together. Read the books your friend recommends. They sometimes know you better than you know yourself. Take time to spend with friends, it’s always a good investment.
May you all have a wonderful week, filled with books and friends and if you’re lucky – a pink cupcake and a fluffy white kitten.
Remember to add your link to the follow pretty ladies and share your Sunday news with all of us.
Lots of Love,
Elza
I am glad your friend was able to visit. 🙂 Little ones sure do have a lot of energy, don't they? I hope you are feeling much better. From the comments I see you had a great time at the book club. I am glad you were able to take part after all these months. It must be nice to regain some sort of normalcy.
I love the cover of Next Year in Havana. I hope you have a great rest of the week!
Hi there! So glad you could stop by! Book Club was great yes. I will post a bit more on it on this Sunday's Sunday Post.
Have a great weekend!
I hope you feel better soon! At least it sounds like you had a lovely visit with your friend.
My father-in-law is Cuban so I'm drawn to books about that country. I'll ve curious to see what you think about Next Year in Havana. Enjoy your week!
My mother-in-law was the one who suggested Next Year in Havana to me. How interesting! I hope to start with it as soon as possible, but I do have a couple of books that are ahead in the queue…
Thanks for stopping by!
Have a great time at book club. Hope you are feeling better as well.

Hi Yvonne! I might only get to it in the new year. My current TBR list is tumbling a bit…!
That sounds like a fun but busy weekend. And sorry to read you've been feeling unwell. I hope you feel better soon.
Happy reading!
Hi Maureen! Much better yes. Thank you!
I hope you are feeling better now. I love how cats do not let their humans suffer alone. Spending time with long-time friends is so much fun.
Happy readings!

sherry @ fundinmental
Hi there Sherry! Aaaah, what a lovely compliment. I appreciate it so much.
If I can bring a smile to your face, my job is done.
I do love writing these posts!
I always wanted a BFF who was a reader, I love my BFF but she reads maybe 2 or 3 books a year, and my husband reads none! I’m glad you got a chance to catch up.
Wishing you a great reading week, and a wonderful time at Book Club
Hi Shelley! I have 2 BFF's for over 20 years and the one isn't a reader at all.
I do have a couple of friends who love to read and of course you all on the blogosphere.
Thanks for stopping by, hope you will have a wonderful week!
Aw I hope you are feeling better, sending hugs your way!
It sounds like you had a great week catching up with your friend and I’m glad to hear your furry friend got plenty of much deserved attention.
Have a lovely week and stay safe!
Hi Heather!
Thanks for the well wishes, sure it will clear up. It was lovely to spend time with my friend!
Looking forward to Book Club tomorrow night, yes – safety first!
So sorry to hear that you are suffering – though it sounds like a lovely, sociable week. I hope you feel better soon, Mareli and that dear little Elza has recovered from all that attention:)). Have a great week.
Hi Sarah!
I am feeling better, but my friend who visited is a doctor and she suggested that I do go and see my GP. I've had an upset tummy on and off for more than a week now.
Elza has been sleeping the whole day, so tonight she will be up and going crazy again.
I do hope you are well too, will hop over now.
I love the third person narrative on your blog btw. I've read a lot of blogs and have not seen this , like ever…so creative. And it really lets readers know without judgement, what has really been going on. But I digress…good week you had for sure!
Hi there Trin! Thank you so much for the lovely compliment! I enjoy writing in Elza's voice so much. It doesn't always work with book reviews and a few other posts as well, but I'm still tweaking it.
Hope your week will be good and please stop by whenever you want! You are most welcome!
Sounds like a real nice but busy week; love the pics too.
Hi Diane! It was an awesome week! Here's to many more.
Hope your week will be good.
Must feel good to be getting back to normal things like book club. Hope you are feeling better now.
Have a great week.
Hi Marg! I am feeling a bit better yes. But think I will still go and see the doctor somewhere this week.
Very excited for life as normal! If it will ever be that again. But the attempts make me happy.
Thanks for the visit and have a wonderful week!
Oh, that kitty. I can only imagine how your friend's daughter enjoyed her. Yes, endless energy. We can barely keep up with our grandkids for a few hours.
Sorry you weren't feeling well. Hope you are better. Scary to think about getting sick during this. Although I still have my cough. From April. Will it ever really go away? I don't know.
One and Only Ivan was huge around the schools here a few years back. Sad and sweet, I thought.
Next Year in Havana sounds lovely. How sweet of you to share.
Book club sounds good, so good. We are hoping to do a front yard book club in a week or two, but it may be too hot. It stays hot here long into October.
Enjoyed your hat post. Here's to more hats in our world!
And how I miss my friends. Two are suffering through cancer treatments, and now the husband of one of them was also diagnosed with cancer. Miss them so much.
Enjoy those pink cupcakes, Mareli!
Hi Deb, what a lovely chat from you. I would love to join your front yard book club. Innovation is the way to go these days!
I am feeling a bit better yes, luckily it's only a stomach thing. Just struggle to get it sorted out.
The one and only Ivan has been on my TBR list for a couple of years, but after seeing the moving, I'm not going to read it. It was really a lovely movie though.
I think we need more little books like The President's Hat. Easy to read, but with enough substance to last for days.
I am very fond of my friends and do try to spend time with them as much as possible. Virtual or physical. As you know, we don't have children. So my husband my students and my friends are my world. I consider myself very fortunate to be one of your virtual friends, I believe you are a wonderful friend.
I am so sorry about your friends' ill health. It can't be easy….
May you have a wonderful week, filled with peace and laughter.
It sounds like you had a very good week – and hanging out with friends safely is important!
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading 🙂
Hi Linda! Safety first yes!
Have a good week.
