The Sunday Post #29

Posted February 14, 2021 by elzaread in Stacking the shelves, The Sunday Post, The Sunday Salon / 40 Comments

Happy Valentine’s Day! I do hope you are all feeling loved today and spreading that love all around you. Even if it’s only on your cat. There are many hugs and kisses in our house today and I know that I should know how lucky and fortunate I am. I do know it and a small part of me, okay a huge chunk – feels I deserve it. It’s not my fault the Good Lord above decided to make me as cute and adorable as a little angel.

How have you all been doing? Yes, I can imagine how dreadful it must be missing us so much. Over the past 2 weeks, we’ve only managed 3 posts. Even more dreadful, I know. We are doing quite good. My Mommy’s hip is much better, but she is turning into one of those irritating Verimark advertisements – But wait! There’s more! After going for her annual medical check-up, she know also sports high blood pressure and high cholesterol. The blood pressure needs to be monitored, but the cholesterol needs a little pill every night.
Mommy and Daddy took a weekend breakaway last week and we were left home alone with our lovely baby-sitter. She also thinks I’m as lovely as anything and I thus get spoiled rotten. Yea to the parents going away for a weekend! I vote for them doing it at least once a month.
Work is also good, just extremely busy and I mostly see my Mommy at night when it’s time for bed and snuggles. And a bit of reading of course. So lets talk books!

Adding to the Litter

Mommy had Book Club last week Monday and she came home with a few great reads. Now if only she will have enough time to read them all!

Scratching the Blog Pole

We didn’t mean to neglect you all and the blog as much as we’ve done, but we do try our best to at least stay online as much as possible. Not always possible though, but stick around, we won’t disappear. Images link directly to the relevant posts.
This was a fun Wondrous Words Wednesday. Thanks for all that participated! We promise to have a new one up by Wednesday morning. You are welcome to join in the fun.
Book Review. This was a purrfect read for me, but not a complete hit with my Mommy. I think she just need to get cozy with cozy mysteries. What’s your favorite series? Let’s see if we can help her a bit here.
No matter how busy life gets, we will never, ever miss out on a Six Degrees of Separation. Even if we are a couple of days late. This month, our chain was linked by a couple of famous redheads.

On the Couch

Those darn Bridgertons still mainly dominate the couch. There’s hardly space for me to wiggle my fluffy bum in. We are done with the Netflix series and with the first three books. I am starting to get worried about the state of my Nibbles as I wagered them that my Mommy won’t continue with it after the third book. But I don’t see much of an ending to this Bridgerton Saga in sight.
At least she did finish and loved Britt-Marie was here by Fredrik Backman too and we are currently reading The Keeper of Lost Causes by Jossi Adler-Olsen. Both are quite far removed from Regency England.
That’s it from us on this Valentines Sunday. A big thank you to our lovely hosts and happy Valentines Day to you lovely ladies!
Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead and remember to spread the love as much as you can. But stay safe!
Lots of extra love today,

  1. Yes to Thursday Murder Club, it's on my list too. Have read such amazing reviews about it. Let's read it around the same time and compare notes!
And glad to see your trip went well and that things are going more smoothly again. We've missed you!
    ~ Lex (lexlingua.co)

    • Hi there Lex! I'm busy with The Thursday Murder Club, but I would love to exchange notes with you any time.

Life is really a bit hectic on my side at the moment, we have holidays in one month and then I'll try my best to pre-schedule a few posts and have more time to hover around a bit.

Hope you had a good week!

  2. I am glad your hip is feeling better, Mareli. Dear Elza, I am happy you are getting lots of love this Valentine's Day weekend. It is much deserved.

I hope you are enjoying your reading! Have a wonderful week!

  3. What a lovely place your parents got to visit! And I am glad to hear that the Bridgertons are still keeping you all entertained.

I do want to read the Richard Osman book!

    • Hi Marg! Hope you are well! My parents had a lovely time, but at the pace they are working the past two weeks, they sure need another break. Bridgerton was very entertaining, but I am going to take a break from them for now. Will finish the series eventually.

Hope you had a good week!

  4. Glad you got the chance to take a breakaway. It looks beautiful! Trying not to be jealous here dealing with sub-zero temps and windchills. I'm glad you're enjoying the Bridgerton books as much as the show. I've been thinking of picking them up.

    • Hi Taylor! The Bridgerton books and series might actually ease the sub-zero temperatures and provide you with some other chills than the dreadful windchills.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  5. Your weekend break sounds lovely. I've forgotten what sunshine feels like.
I don't read many cozy mysteries, but I used to enjoy the "Cat Who…" series by Lillian Jackson Braun.
Hope you enjoy your new books.

    • Hi Anstice! South Africa is a sunny country, we always have sunshine. Even in winter. Thanks for the recommendation! I am definitely going to take a look. Especially because there's a cat in the titles!!

    • Hi Anne! It was a good read, but don't try to finish it in one sitting. It might be a bit much. One of those books you need to reflect on a bit.

  6. Happy Valentine's Day! Glad you had a nice time while the humans were away. 🙂

I'm not sure about my favorite cozies but I do like the Book retreat series by Ellery adams. Also the Deep End series by Julie Mulhern.

  7. I just signed up for Tracey Drew's newsletter and got a free copy of the novella that comes before the book you read. I enjoyed it. It's cute. I still have to write a review. A good cozy series Cat in the Stacks by Miranda James. It's a series of books featuring a Maine Coon cat named Diesel. I'm behind on the series but I do love it.

Nice vacay pics! Have a great week!

    • Hi Yvonne! So glad to hear that you enjoy Tracey Drew's books! I still need to read the prequel novella.
I will take a look at the Miranda James books. Thanks for bringing it under my attention.
Hope you had a good week!

  8. Lovely to have you back Mareli and Elza, and to hear your hip is better and you enjoyed a weekend away. I also hope you enjoy your new books, especially The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman as I loved it! Take care and happy reading. ?

  9. That vacay looks great. I have taken a lot of passengers to the airport so they can later go ski in colorado. Sounds fun and adventureous.

    • Vacay was lovely, just a bit short. Skiing in Colorado… It sounds like a different planet for me!! Now that does sound like fun and a sure adventure.

  10. I'm so glad you were able to get away for a bit, Mareli. Traveling is one of the things I have missed most during this time.

All of your new books look great. I need to get busy and read today, as our book club meets Tuesday night.

I've got a post planned for Wednesday. Did I tell you how happy I am that you have revived WWW?!

    • I love all my new books, but I've only read one so far!!! Good grief, life is hectically busy here. I need another break away.

Yea for WWW!! I am so glad to hear you are so excited about it and I am just as glad that I've revived it. So much fun.

  11. So glad you have managed to get a weekend breakaway:)). It looks beautiful. We are still in lockdown so no going away for us. Or going out for a meal as restaurants are all closed, too. I keep hearing about Bridgerton, both the books and the TV series – I need to check it out… Have a great week with lots of cuddles – of all kinds:).

    • Hi Sarah! it was a wonderful weekend and at one of the most beautiful settings in South Africa of which we have many.
I would never ever in my wildest dreams have thought that I would like, no love, Bridgerton. But I do! So maybe give it a try. Definitely what the world needed in 2021.

  12. A weekend breakaway in such a beautiful place, how lucky ! Happy Valentines day too, my boyfriend is currently cooking and it smells good, I already baked a cake yesterday (banana/chocolate). Our cats are getting a lot of love and currently lazying in the sun : it's very cold outside (still snow) but warm on my side of the window. Does Martha Grimes' Richard Jury series count as a cozy mystery ? I think it's more of a classical mystery, but charming and enjoyable – I'm in love with Melrose Plant. Enjoy your week and take care of the cholesterol ^^

    • Hi IzaBzh, South Africa do have some of the world's most beautiful natural beauty. I don't know Martha Grimes' Richard Jury series? But will take a look! I love classic mysteries. Thanks for the heads up!

You must have a good week as well.
