Greetings you all! How are you? Did you have a good week? I’ve decided to just accept my fate of being a poor, abandoned kitty for most of my weeks. Life is not going to change much for my Mommy at this stage. School is busy and her days are long. I do try my best to make sure she doesn’t forget completely about me by catching and releasing the odd grasshopper in the house, or chasing imaginary mice around the bedroom @ 03:00 in the morning. Oh and losing my collar. That was the most fun.
The world outside our window shows lovely summer weather with a couple of rain showers, but not enough to ease the ongoing drought. Hence all the grasshoppers. Did I mention that my Mommy hates grasshoppers? The Covid numbers are just about 0 in our little town for over a week now, but there’s already talk of the 3rd Wave that will hit Africa if we can’t get a workable vaccine soon. As you know, all the AstroZeneca vaccines that arrived on our shores, had to be send back as it was completely useless against the strain that spread through Africa. Let’s hold thumbs that the Johnson & Johnson vaccine proof to be more effective than their no-more-tears shampoo.
My Mommy didn’t buy any new books and she also didn’t request any. There are way too many books here for her to get through first.
Scratching the Blog Pole
We did manage to get three posts published on the blog this week and all three were loads of fun. On Wednesday we did our biweekly Wondrous Words Wednesday and on Friday Mommy came home early in time for us to do a Weekend Book Friends. Our featured book was The Thursday Murder Club and we are just about done with it.
Yesterday I did I Classics Club post on my favorite Classic Character. That was the most fun of all. The pictures below link directly to the various posts if you missed it.

The Thursday Murder Club was highly enjoyable and I will recommend it to just about everyone.
My hubby just got the Astra Zeneca vaccine two weeks ago, it worries me all the different strains, it must be annoying for the scientists to have created a vaccine for another variant to appear. Hopefully between all the vaccines doing the rounds they can bring our world back to a state of normalcy.
Hi Heather! The J&J vaccine is being rolled out this week and I hope it will proof to be the solution we need in Africa!
We have tons of grasshoppers here too! They’re all under the snow right now. They take over the sidewalks in the summer. When I was a kid, I used to ride my bike through them and feel them bouncing off my legs. It was so gross! I hope a working vaccine gets to you quickly. Have a good week!

Hi AJ! I remember when I was a child, we once had one of those real Biblical grasshopper plagues where the sky turned black with all of them. I still have nightmares!
The vaccine is being rolled out this week, so hopefully it will be effective and life can start moving on again.
It can be good to be busy. But hope you can get a little more time with cute Elza! I haven't read Keeper of Lost Causes but I did see the movie it's based on and I really enjoyed it. Glad you were able to get a few fun things in this week.

Past week wasn't much better, but at least we are still staying positive and doing what we can!
The Astra Zeneca is what our government is supplying for those of us who do not fall into a risk category, while those that are at high risk are getting the Phizer vaccination. I’m curious about what the ineffectiveness of the AZ against the African strain might mean here.
I think I stopped watching The 100 about Season 4, but I did like it.

Hi there Shelleyrae! That's a really interesting question! I have no idea why it was ineffective, I just know that my family doctor told me that it's completely useless with the African strain and then I saw everything was send back. You win some, you lose some.
My husband is away this week, so I guess we'll only try The 100 again next week.

The 100 is fun and I just got done playing a Bookish Games game based on the show. shannon is the co- moderator this time around as she's quite the fan haha! It's been fun, the Bookish Games are a version of the mafia social game that people play, not sure if you're familiar with it, I wasn't until the last couple years. the things that blogging leads to!

Elza is playing the couldn't be cuter card today, but it's because I've been at home the whole weekend and she got lots of attention. So hopefully no grasshoppers. Yes, we desperately need rain. But that's Africa for you.

sorry to hear about the vaccine, but great to hear the numbers. 0 wow. here in the florida panhandle…well…they just don't care about safety. but, i am due for my second dose of the vaccine this week so that is a relief. now it's getting mr wonderful done. because i am older i got it first and he has had to wait

HI IzaBzh! Today she is constantly trying to pull the look-at-me-I'm-so-cute look and it works. It always does! No waking up in the wee hours and no grasshoppers in the house when I came back from school.

So sorry you are feeling a bit abandoned right now, Elza – though perhaps it might be an idea to ease up on catching those grasshoppers in the wee small hours… In the meantime, I hope the low numbers keep on being a thing… And that one of the other vaccines prove to be effective against the South African strain. Oh my. What a sad thing to have to return the vaccines. But your country has done a great job of keeping the virus in check there. Yes, let's definitely hope the J&J vaccine works better than it's no more tears shampoo. Lol.

Oh yeah I heard about the returning of the vaccines back to India. I am so sorry that it was not working in Africa but hey, the cases have reduced at least. So some positive news. Stay safe!
Hi Gayathri! Unfortunately it's not the case in the whole country. Some parts still have very high numbers with poor discipline. But let's hold thumbs for the new J&J one!
