Greetings you all! It’s 10:00 here in South Africa and there are only 4 hours left of the Dewey 24 Hour Readathon. Gosh, we are having so much fun with this! It’s a first for us in more than one way: Our first Dewey Readathon and also our first time playing bingo in any form. Why did no-one every tell us it’s so much fun?? What other challenges revolve around a bingo board??
Seriously now, I think it’s brilliant to have such clever prompts and games combined with a readathon. It really just brings an element of fun to it. Of course I get to snuggle with my Mommy for hours now and I can also pose for numerous Instagram photos. We’ll give a complete update later today or perhaps only tomorrow. Current update:
- Finish the last 91 pages of The Dreamers
- Started and finished Bruidzilla (287 pages)
- Started and finished Lost in the storm (119 pages)
- 13% done with L’Origine on Kindle
- Did a couple of Instagram and Bingo Prompts
We are going to try to get one more book in, but then we need to hurry up now.
How was your week? School’s busy as always, but Mommy says they are finding a familiar rhythm now again that she’s missed the last year. Late nights and busy days, but it’s good to see her happy! They had Pajama Day at school on Friday and she basically stayed in her PJ’s ever since coming home on Friday (different sets though, but she does take the prompt very serious).
Scratching the Blog Pole
We did two book reviews this week and finally did a Friday Post okay. It was so much fun to visit some of the regulars we haven’t paid a visit to in a couple of weeks. If you’ve missed our posts, graphics link to the relevant post.
On the Couch
We only have one current read, but as soon as we press send, we will start with another one. Just not all too sure which one. Guess we’ll have to flip a coin and tick another Bingo block.
This is a review copy from France Book Tours and we are really enjoying it! A fascinating art history lesson. We’ll hopefully have it done and dusted and review up before next weekend.
We did watch the latest adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma on Friday Night. We loved it!
That’s all from us today, I told my Mommy she only has an hour to write, post and link her post up and then it’s back to the readathon. I’ve got razor sharp claws and a very annoying little voice if I’m being ignored, so please excuse her now.
Thank you to our lovely hosts – Debbie @ ReaderBuzz and Kimberley @ Caffeinated Reviewer. We promise to do some serious blog hopping as soon as all the Dewey Athletes shout Bingo! at 14:00 SA time.
Lots of Love,
The bingo board tempts me every time because crossing things off a list in any capacity is one of my very favorite things! Somehow the readathon always lands on an impossible weekend for me. One day though it'll happen – or I'll just make my own! I have somehow never seen or read Emma though it is one of my mother's favorite Austen. She even named her cat Emma after the main character. Hope you're having a lovely lovely week. Swing by my blog Friday – I'm doing a whole list of my favorite cat pictures and I think you and Elza will enjoy them!
Ooh, yes, Emma! Loved the settings and costumes in this latest version. TBH, Emma is not a character that I like very much, but the movie was great. ~Lex
Hi Lex! I also thought the movie was handled exceptionally well, just the right mixture of humour and wit to bring the classic to life.
Emma is also not my favourite Austen character, but she was my aunt's! She even named a cat after Emma. My aunt passed away 3 years ago, but Emma is still alive and living with my sister.
It sounds like you have been having great fun! Well done on Dewey’s, I couldn’t do it due to the fact I would fall asleep!
Hope all is well with you!
I got a couple of hours of sleep in! But the waking hours, I mainly spend reading. So I don't feel bad about the sleepy hours. It was a lot of fun and I will definitely do it again.
I love Dewey’s! I attempted to participate, but I did terrible because I kept falling asleep. I hope you have a great week!
Aj @ Read All The Things!
Hi AJ! Yes, falling asleep is the biggest problem with a 24 hour readathon. Don't worry, I also slept for a couple of hours!
A weekend in pajamas sounds great! I'm glad you and your mommy had fun with the Dewey Readathon.
Our PJ Weekend was just what the doctor ordered. I think we need to make it a monthly (at least) thing.
The Readathon was a lot of fun yes!
I live in my pajamas as much as humanly possible! I'm glad you had fun with the readathon.
Enjoy your week!
I only like my PJ's and slippers in winter. In summer it doesn't really faze me much. It's getting colder here with us now, so yes – lots of pajama days coming up!
Pajama day is so fun! Have a great week. 🙂
It sure is! I stayed in my PJ's the rest of the weekend too!
I'm glad to read you're having so much fun with the readathon.
And Emma is definitely on my list to watch.
Have a great week and happy reading.
Hi Maureen! The readathon was a lot fun and I'm glad I did it.
Yes, Emma is lovely and you don't even have to go and put the kids to bed. Bonus!
Oh that sounds like such a fun thing to do! I'm glad you're enjoying the readathon!! Hope you have a great week 🙂
Hi Penelope! It was a lot of fun! There will be another one in October this year, try to join in the fun!
Oh it's Dewey's this weekend, isn't it? I forgot! Well I hope it's going well!
HI Greg! I had lots of fun with the Dewey Readathon, think it was exactly what I needed!
Oh I need to watch Emma, and pajama days rock! I need to participate in the thon.
Emma is good! Worth the time and the laugh. I think it was handled very good. There will be another 24 hour readathon in October. Hope to see you then!
Pajama Day is the best and that readathon sounds like loads of fun. Have a wonderful week!
I mostly enjoy readathons, it's got a way to streamline my reading a bit. Otherwise I tend to go all over the place!
Hope you will have a good week too.
I like the Pajama Day picture, nice! Wish we could live in PJs. I still want to see the Emma movie. Glad you liked it. I liked that actress in Queen's Gambit. Very good.
In the summer time I don't miss my PJ's all that much, but it's getting colder here with us and I just want to wear my PJ's all day long now. The Emma movie is worth it, even my husband enjoyed it. I also like that actress from The Queen's Gambit and can also not remember her name now!! LOL!!
I did some reading but I didn't officially join the readathon. I'm glad it was fun and PJs are always good.
Anne – Books of My Heart
Glad to hear you also had some time for reading over the weekend. Unofficially is still taking part. Yea to PJ's!
I've never done a readathon or Bingo but it sounds like fun. I'll have to give it a try. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Have a great week!
It is a lot of fun Yvonne and you can get your kitties to participate. Double the fun!
Pajama day sounds perfect since we've all spent the past year working and learning in our PJs! I like the idea of a bingo board as well since it's like having a bunch of little challenges.
Exactly Helen! And I love little squares and boxes. It keeps me organized. I actually didn't spend that much time in my PJ's last year. I went back to work quite early in lockdown and I don't think PJ's would go off very well at school if it's not for a fun day!
I love wearing my PJ's in winter though and it's just starting to get cooler here with us and time to pack out all the warm and cozy sleepwear.
I am a fan of hanging out in PJs! I used to do that every morning, before I moved to this residence. Now I try to do it most weekends. Lots of residents here love Bingo. I have yet to join in. Maybe I should?
Enjoy your week and your books, and thanks for visiting my blog.
I think Bingo can be a whole lot of fun Laurel-Rain! I don't often take a PJ's day, but decided that I think I need to do it more. It's good for the body and soul!
I'm so happy you enjoyed the readathon. The readathon was the very first blogging event I participated in when I first started blogging in June of 2008. Reading. Games. Blogging. Prizes. It was so much fun.
When I see your pajama day at school I remember how much I loved teaching. I still have a pair of bunny-suit pjs. Happy memories.
We watched Emma last week, too. Oh, Emma. When Emma said that hurtful remark to her friend, my heart sank. Haven't we all experienced saying something that hurts a dear friend and regretting it? Such a good movie.
Have a lovely week, Mareli!
Wow Debbie! That's like 13 years ago! And you are still going strong. How awesome is that.
I do love my job, I sometimes wish I had a bit more time for other things as well, but mainly I love going to school and be the the kiddies and my colleagues. That is a blessing all by itself.
Emma was brilliant and I think society would be a bit better off if we just realize more often if a snotty remark hurts our friends and then try our best to rectify it.
Hope you will have a good week too!
That's awesome you're having so much fun with that readathon. I've never participated in one, as while it sounds fun, I rarely can find that much time in the same day to read. How fun you had a pajama day. And that's nice you're settling into a familiar rhythm again. I hope you have a great week!
Hi their Lola! I love readathons and reading challenges. Just don't always have the time for it. But we have a long weekend this weekend and that's why I've decided to join in the fun.
Thanks for visiting us!
Oh, I love pajama day and any pajamas with the feet. Brings back memories of me gliding my feet across the wood paneled floor and sliding down it occasionally with my brothers.
Hi Trin! I think our bodies and our souls need pajama day every once in a while.
