The Sunday Post #38

Posted May 9, 2021 by elzaread in The Sunday Post / 34 Comments

Greetings you all! It’s Mother’s Day, so today is all about my Mommy. It’s normally about me, but today I’ll take a backseat and just talk about her and the wonder that she is. I always have to wonder what the heck she’s doing, where the heck she is, why the heck she doesn’t feed me. She’s a real wonder.

All jokes aside, My Mommy actually really is the greatest cat Mom ever. Even when she’s had a hectic week, like the past one, she still always picks me up first when she comes home and then we both feel better. I love sitting in that vantage point and see how desperate the rest of the family also wants some attention. The do get some eventually.

How was your week?

Scratching the Blog Pole

We didn’t acquire any new books this week. My wonderful Mommy just went to the Book Shop and put a pile of books aside so long for Book Club. She will go and pick them up later this week. Although she says she needs to only pick a few, I know she’s gonna take them all. We’ll show them off next week!
Have you guys noticed that we’ve changed our graphics a bit? Do you like it? I really do! They all feature me. Gosh, it’s pretty, don’t you think?
We had 3 posts this week:
Library Card May 2021 I’ve decided it’s time to also start with a monthly planner on my  our blog. We love looking at all your pretty organized schedules every month. I’m sure we can do that too.
Book Review – L’Origine: The secret Life of the World’s most Erotic Masterpiece What a read! We really enjoyed this one, especially my Mommy. I like this new graphic for Book Reviews, I just don’t know how and when my Mommy is going to change all the previous reviews…

On the Couch

Currently Reading

We’ve just started with A Dark and Secret Place. It’s dark and secret for sure. And twisted.
A Gentleman in Moscow is our current audio book and isn’t it simply lovely.
Die Boek van Gelukkige Eindes is one of the Book Club books my Mommy hasn’t read yet and need to return it to its rightful owner. She’s quite happy that it’s not her book. We don’t care for it very much.
We didn’t watch much TV this week, busy with school work and then off to bed to go and read for 5 minutes before we fell asleep.
That’s all from us this week. What’s new with you?
Happy Mother’s Day to all of you who feel you deserve that title. I’m sure our two lovely hosts, Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer and Debs @ Readerbuzz deserves it for sure.
Lots of Love,

  1. It's great to get new graphics and update things with them. I hoe you had a great mother's day!

Anne – Books of My Heart

  2. I love that my cats are always there to greet me when I come home from work even when the humans cannot be bothered. To be fair, my husband is usually still working when I come home. And my daughter, well, she is at that age. Haha. I hope you are enjoying your reading. I have heard good things about A Gentleman in Moscow. I hope you have a great week!

    • Get yourself a labrardor! They hear my car and wait for me before the gate even opens! They are the first ones to great me, but Elza normally waits inside. Stinkie doesn't bother much however and I'm also usually home before my husband!

    • Hi Heather! It's just about time for The Sunday Post again! I am horrible with getting to everything lately.

Glad you like the graphics, I'm still feeling them out a bit. But it takes forever!! As soon as I have more time and cash, I'll get someone to just do it for me.

    • Hi AJ! Thanks! I think it's going to take me quite some time to change everything, especially all the book reviews. But I will do it as I have time. Rome wasn't build in a day after all.

    • Hi Maureen! I ended up not finishing it actually. It's a truly dark and twisted tale. But it is written very well and I think it might do very well!

  3. I enjoyed reading A Gentleman in Moscow, but didn't love it as my dad and so many bloggers did. I look forward to seeing what you bought at the bookstore.

    • Hi Helen! I'm only about an hour or so into it, but I love it so far. I promise I will keep you updated!

I will go to the bookshop tomorrow to go and pick up my parcel. Yea!! Will post over the weekend.

  4. Happy Mother's Day!! And "The do get some eventually" haha it's good to be the queen, right? :):)

Hope you have a great week!

    • Hi Greg! The dogs actually get attention first, because they meet Mommy at the gate. I sit and wait like the Queen I am on the kitchen table…

Hope you are having a good week Greg!

    • Thanks Tessa! It might take me a couple of weeks to get everything pulled through, but hey – sure it will be worth it!

      Hope you are well Tessa!

  5. Mareli, I do hope you are getting lots of Elza love today! I'm afraid I have much news to share as we have had a quiet, cold and wet week, so have mainly stayed in and read! Take care and happy reading in the coming week. ?

    • Hi Jessica! I did get a lot of kitty love today yes. It's cold here with us and Elza just wants to snuggle. No complaints from me!

I think staying in bed reading sound like a rather perfect week to me. Glad you enjoyed it!

  6. I have noticed your graphics and the more Elza pictures the better! I loved Gentleman in Moscow and bet it would be wonderful in audio. Happy mother's day to you and it sounds like a cuddle with Elza is the perfect way to relax when you get home. Have a great week!

    • Hi Katherine! It sure is the best. Even Stinkie hugs are good. Elza tends to wriggle, Stinkie just relaxes in your arms.

A Gentleman in Moscow is a wonderful read! Just not sure when I'm going to get time to finish it on audible. Will make a plan!

  7. I hope you have a great mother's day! I like your new graphics with all the kitties! It is a pain to change all the older review graphics, I know my blog still has like three different styles if you manage to find my older reviews. Have a great week!

    • Hi Lola! I'm not going to change everything, it will take me days. I might even leave the book reviews for a while.

Thanks for the compliment, we appreciate it! And for stopping by!

    • Hi Diane! I'm also listening to it on audio and I love it. I've ordered a copy at the Bookshop, because I know I would want to have it on my shelf.

  8. All the kitty graphics are wonderful, yes! I (still) need to read the Towles novel sometime. I hope you enjoy doing a monthly planner of books … as I think it helps me know what I eventually want to get to. I hope you have a great week!

    • I also hope it's going to help and just get me to be a bit more streamlined. I also like the graphics and still need to make a few new ones. But I'm getting there!

Hope you will have a good week too.

  9. What a lovely tribute to your cat mom, Elza. I'm thinking today about all the wonderful people who mom-med me through the years, and I'm thankful for all of them. My own mom was brilliant and creative and yet she chose to spend her talents on her family instead of seeking the widespread fame and acclaim she was due. I'm especially grateful to her for her zest for life and all the delights in it.

I loved Gentleman in Moscow. The truth is that I think I fell in love with the count a little bit. He showed us all how someone can have a big life in small circumstances.

Your new graphics are wonderful. I enjoy making graphics almost as much as I enjoy writing posts. I made a whole bunch of blog headers, one for every change of mood. I also enjoy making schedules and planning my reading. Does everyone do this? Or is it just a quirk of readers?

    • Hi Debbie! I always miss my Mom on Mother's day. Also a lady who made a huge impact on my life. I wish she was still here.

I am enjoying A Gentleman in Moscow so much. I'm listening to it on audible, but I've ordered a copy from the bookshop as well, I know I'm going to want to have this one on my shelf!

I've got a friend who is a graphic designer, but she's a bit busy at the moment and I wanted everything to be a bit more uniformed. So I just did it myself! Still need to do a few and like I've said, the books is going to take me a couple of hours I guess!

I don't have enough time for reading schedules at the moment and that's why everything is a mess. Hopefully the Library Card will work a bit!

  10. Love your graphics. I need to do some blog site changes. In due time of course. This week I enjoyed a few more hours of shut eye and as a Cat I'm sure you did as well;)

    • Thanks Trin! I still need to get a few more things streamlined, but also in due time.

We didn't sleep as much this week, was a bit hectic!
