The Sunday Post #56

Posted December 12, 2021 by elzaread in The Sunday Post / 22 Comments

Season Greetings you guys! It’s the season to be jolly for sure. My Mommy is home for the holidays and we don’t have anything waiting to be done urgently or any have to do’s.

Yes, we do plan on sorting out the blog for once and all and then just leave it be. No, we still haven’t received any feedback from Bloglovin regarding the move from Blogger to WordPress that leaves our link not working now. I think I will need to meow in their ears tomorrow again.

Thursday was my Mommy’s birthday and what fun we’ve had. For someone who didn’t feel like having a party, she had people here the whole day. I guess that’s what happen if it’s your staff year-end function just the day before your birthday and you tell everyone to come and eat cake and have coffee. She’s a teacher and I would have thought she would have known by now that “cake” is a magical Pavlov word for all educators. She got spoiled rotten and it’s heartwarming to see how well her friends and colleagues know her.

We didn’t buy any new books over the last two weeks, but as you can see – we got the new J.K. Rowling book for Mommy’s birthday. And we got so many Book Vouchers! Whoo hoo! I get the impression that Mommy plans on saving them. I’ll have to meow her out of it very discreetly.

We got another fun Christmassy read up for review this week. Seeing that it’s holiday times, we will hopefully be able to finish everything in time for Christmas. Jolly & Deadly is the third instalment in the Florence Winters Mystery series and we love this 1920’s cozy mystery series.

I see a lot of people are starting to plan their reading challenges for next year. We didn’t do very well with this year’s challenges. Although, according to Goodreads we have completed our reading challenge of 80 books but are they all Around the world in 80 books? Nope. But let’s see if we can get to do an update before the big ball drops and then decide on what we will do next year. Luckily we now have this awesome plugin that will help us to manage it a whole lot better. Something to look forward to!

We are still reading the new Tracey Drew, Slip Stitch & Slayed an as always, it’s a perfectly fun kitty read to start the holidays with.

It’s Sunday night here with us already and I am going to press publish now so that we can quickly go and say hi to all of you and see what you’ve been up to lately.

How’s the Christmas planning going? Ours are just about done, but I’m still bidding my time to climb the tree. It’s a bit small, but very pretty. So maybe I won’t climb it this year.

  1. Those are some lovely Christmas goodies! <3 <3 And very interesting to see Rowling try out children's books as well! Hope you've been doing well, and here's wishing you the very best of 2022 – stay safe, stay happy, and lots of great books your way! 🙂

  2. Sounds like a you had a great birthday! Your Christmas tree looks great! I like the white color with the colorful ornaments. We still don’t have our tree up, maybe we’ll skip it this year. That’s nice you’re home for the holidays and hopefully you can relax a bit :). Strange that bloglovin is not working, hopefully that gets resolved soon. I am looking forward to reading that Tracey Drew series! It sounds like a fun one. I hope you have a great week!

  3. Pretty tree you have! It’s weird but I didn’t even know about the Christmas Pig book …. am I living under a rock or what? I hope you enjoy it. Have a great week.

  4. Happy Birthday Mareli. It sounds like you had a great day! That new J.K. Rowling book is on my wish list too. I can’t wait to read it with my kids. Probably next year though. LOL!
Have a great week and happy reading.

Hi there Maureen! My birthday was wonderful yes, thank you!

I have read the first chapter of the new JK Rowling and it does seem like a fun read in deed. Will try to read a few every night.

So sorry for the late reply!

Hi there Yvonne! I had a wonderful birthday. One for the books for sure.

Elza appears to love the pink and blue Christmas tree and she hasn’t even tried to climb it. So proud of her….

  5. I’m not sure what’s going on with Bloglovin. I used to use them and really liked them (and I guess I still do use them lol) but I’ve been hearing lots of complaints lately… anywho happy birthday to your human! Hope she had a great one!! 🙂

    Your 20’s book looks great.

    Beautiful tree! Behave Elza lol!

Hi Greg! So sorry for the late reply!! My laptop is a really on its last legs, so I basically only have my desktop to work from and that takes the hours in front of the tv away.

Still haven’t heard from Bloglovin and yes! You are still on Bloglovin!! LOL!!

Elza loves the tree and has been very good this year.

Hope you are having a good week so far!

  6. Diane

Happy Belated Birthday to mommy! It just came to my attention that your blog fell off my notification list and I’ve missed many posts – Thank goodness for IG. Hope Mommy has been doing well and you too Elza.

Hi there Diane! Thank you so much!

I’ve missed you! I am very happy with my new look and WordPress and everything, but I do miss my blogroll. I will get the lady that helps me with the blog in somewhere over the holidays so that she can help me to set it up and I can get back to knowing what is happening around me!

We are well, we do hope you are well too!

  7. What a gorgeous tree, I love those colour choices. Elza you are so right about cake and educators – I think we would do just about anything for a slice of the yummy sweetness.

      Hi Louise!

My Mommy also loves her Christmas tree this year and I think it’s too pretty to try to destroy it .

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week ahead!

  8. Wonderful that you have time off to do whatever you like, Mareli! And what a lovely birthday you had. Those folks know what you wanted for your day.

It’s tricky changing platforms, I think, and that’s why I’ve stayed at the same place for all these years. I actually have a WordPress Readerbuzz, but I couldn’t figure out how to import twelve years of blog posts there.

Love the Christmas tree! You be good, Elza.

      Hi there Dearest Debbie!

95% I will say that I am really happy with the move to WordPress. I think the template is gorgeous and very accessible. I think I need to spend more time playing on WordPress and not only my template though!

Ashley did all the transfers for me and I haven’t lost any posts at all.

The sidebar was easier on Blogger, but I will figure it out as I go along, that I’m sure of! No idea what is going on with Bloglovin, I used to use them a lot and now my hands are tide. Guess I’ll have to use something else to network with!

My birthday was really great yes, so many wonderful blessings to count in my life. You are one of them!

      Have a wonderful week!

I had no idea that J.K.Rowling had a new book out. I’m still waiting for the new one in the Cormoran Strike series.

Hi there Mae! It’s a children’s book, but there are always fun in a children’s Christmas story.

Yes, I saw there is a new Cormoran Strike coming out! I still need to read the previous one as well. Lethal White I think.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week!
