The Sunday Post #6

Posted August 2, 2020 by elzaread in Stacking the shelves, The Sunday Post, The Sunday Salon / 23 Comments

So, how was your week? I have to confess, I didn’t have such a wonderful week. I think Mommy back at work and Daddy being away the whole week, was a bit tough on my constant-craving-attention-and-cuddles demeanor.

My big brother, Stinkie (don’t ask to many questions regarding his name), has also not been well at all. He was in an automobile accident 3 years ago and had to have a complete hip replacement and bone transplant. Daddy calls him the bionic cat. Unfortunately, he is rather on the big side and thinks he’s a ninja (he is pitch black afterall). So every now and then, he does something bionic cats really shouldn’t do, and hurts the old injuries. Every time it happens, my Mommy is also in a complete state. After all, it was her fault… She drove over him. No matter how many times everybody tells her it was only an accident and a miracle he survived in the first place, she still needs one extra glass of wine if Stinkie gets ill. I can’t decide who I feel sorry for the most, so I just revert to being sorry for myself and as you can see, become excessively needy.
Mommy’s week wasn’t too bad, busy at work and life is very slowly returning to a slight form of normal. We did manage to read and blog a bit as well, so that was good.

Adding to the litter

Our local bookshop are still having a book sale and one of the other outlets also had a nationwide sale. Apparently Jeffreys Bay is not part of the nation, because there were NO books on sale in our branch. To comfort herself after the disappointment, she went to our local bookshop and bought a book. Anderman se vrou deur Chris Karsten Struggling to read it? It’s Afrikaans and translates to “Another man’s wife”. Mommy loves the author, so she just bought it without realising it’s part of a series. Damn…

The love/hate relationship with BookBub was a love-hit again this week. She got a lovely book from them and I think Greg over at Book Haven is going to love the vintage cover. The Saturday Night Ghost Club by Craig Davidson

Mommy’s number one delight of Book Blogging, is following other bloggers’ recommendations or jump on the specials they share. Books Please shared a book on our weekly Friday Features and it was on special at Amazon. The Bird Watcher by William ShawI don’t know when she’s planning on reading these, as none of them can be used for her 2020 reading challenge.

Scratching the Blog Pole

Mommy got up really, really early on Tuesday Morning to do her Top Ten Tuesday Post. This week was a freebie and she had so much fun drafting her post on Why reading and blogging is good for you in 2020. Wednesday Wisdom was from the Little Prince and we also did our regular Weekend Book Friends. Click on the image if you’ve missed any of them.

On the couch

Reading

This is the “normal” my mommy prefers. One book on Kindle (Devil at my heels. At about 60% done), One physical book (Faithful. A bit of a slow start, but Alice Hoffman always comes through) and one on audio (Something in the water. Just started it. Love that the author reads it!)
Watching

Daddy’s been away, so Mommy could watch whatever she wanted. She started with Riverdale, and to be honest – I think she’s too old for this. Those kids are really something to talk about. So I guess that’s what all the hype is all about. Good Girls are hilarious and we’ll definitely continue the series. The Young Sheldon episode 11 deserves a special mention. I loved that episode about religion! Even my little kitten brain could get that logic. Makes perfect sense.

Let it go

I actually don’t have anything I need to let go of this week. But I do have a question.
I  have two blogs, but one profile on Blogger. I see that if I try to follow any of you, it says I follow you already (if I followed you as Mareli Thalk Ink). I’m wondering if it works both ways? If it does, do any of you know how to integrate your followers? If it doesn’t work both ways, would you be so kind as to re-follow me on this page? And last question – has any of you deleted a previous blog? What happened? Did the world stand still for a couple of minutes? Or is it safe to do so?
Thanks so much for all the visits and comments! We love being back and chatting to all of you. Remember to link you Sunday news to following lovely ladies:
Hope you will all have a wonderful week! Stay safe and wear those masks.
Lots of love,
Elza

  1. Hi Greg! Knew you would like it! You'll most probably like the book too. Ja, Stinkie struggles with his hip. My husband named him, he was a rescue foster and he seriously farted like you can't believe…! Hence the name.

Hope your week will be great too. Stay say!

  2. I don't have kids, but my dogs and at least 3 of the cats are always very happy when I come back from work or wherever!

Thanks for stopping by, hope you will have a good week!

  3. Hi Heather! I've noticed that we here in SA get different covers. I can't even tell you if it's UK or US, because that differs as well. I've bought books from our local book chain with covers that no-one else has seen…

I think that's why I like these features with the covers. You should check out the Friday Face-Off.

    Have a wonderful week!

  4. Hi Ann! I only try to entertain little Elza hear with the "let it go" segment. Although it really is a good idea to make conscious decisions to let certain things go. Like grudges.

    Thanks for the visit!

  5. Oh I'm sorry to hear about Stinkie! I hope he feels better soon. I love that name BTW. 🙂 And thanks for the shout out- I DO love that cover haha. PErfect!

Haha so true about Riverdale! That show lol.

Hope your week ahead is a good one. Be well!

  6. It would be hard going from having your humans home with you so often to not seeing them as much. I worry about that with my cats. They are loving having us home so much. On the days I have to go into the office, I come home and am instantly greeted by my cats. I can't say for my human child. LOL

I do hope Stinkie is feeling better soon. Poor kitty! I hope you are giving him lots of love.

I hope you enjoy your mom enjoys her new books! Have a great week!

  7. Hi Heather! Oh I see your big black boy there in your profile pic. Gorgeous. Black cats are the best (don't let Elza hear me).

I will play around with the blog thingies and see where I end up. I did manage to import all the posts, now it's just a matter of not losing the reviews.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful week.

  8. Wha ha ha ha Debs! Yes, some books need to be read in sections….! I like the diversity. If a book really has my attention, I will only read that though. But during term and normal day to day, it's the 3 books, different platforms, all the way.

Get a kitten, then she and Elza can chat.

Hope you will have a lovely week.

  9. Hi Laurel-Rain! I was wondering about the reviews yes…. The rest I'm not all that worried about. Maybe I should just slowly start updating them all to this page. I did import everything, so I do suspect that it can be done.

Thanks for your advice! Happy week!

  10. Hi Sarah! Thanks so much. Stinky is better, but now he's a wanderer again and Mommy's worried. She will pull out the flashlight any moment now to go look for him.

    Glad you liked our post!

Hope you will also have a wonderful week!

  11. I'm so sorry Stinkie isn't feeling well. I hope he perks up soon. I also have a large all-black cat named Shadow. I'm not sure on the blogs either. I know you can set up ones to be private so only the readers you choose can see. But not sure how to switch posts over or how to move followers. Good luck to finding those answers!

I always have several books going as well. I like to have a bunch of options if something I'm reading is too intense or not interesting enough, etc.

  12. Every time I read your blog I feel like going out and getting a cat. I loved my cats so much. I am always happy to hear about yours.

I don't know much about deleting blogs. I have one at Blogger and one at WordPress but I never post at WP. I have one that I used for school; it was an easy way to share things with kids. It just sits there now. I never post there any more.

I like your normal triple book system of reading. I like to have several books going at the same time. When I get tired of one, I switch to another. And it's the only way to read War and Peace, I think, one chapter a day.

  13. I love the POV for your post…so cute.

As for what happens when you delete a blog, let me tell you it gets complicated. But it can be done. First you have to make sure the blog you want to delete doesn't have links to reviews you don't want to lose. You can change them to the other blog, but it takes a little time.

Or…you could keep both blogs and set them up for followers to sign up for them separately.

    Enjoy!

  14. I hope Stinky is recovering – it's always wretched when a loved pet is ill… Glad you are getting back to some form of normality. I loved your article 10 Reasons Why Reading and Blogging is Good for you:)). Hope the coming week is a good one and take care.
