The Sunday Post #66

Posted April 3, 2022 by elzaread in The Sunday Post / 46 Comments

Greetings Humans! How has your week been? Our week wasn’t all that bad and the building project seemed to have stopped breeding at last. Now we just need to bring all the little projects to life and to completion. And try not go sound as crazy as last week. The only thing that added another brick in our wall of insanity this week, was the fact that we were without internet for 3 days. Unbelievable how dependent you humans are to Greek Theatre. Ever noticed that the Wi-Fi signal symbol looks quite similar to the layout of Greek Theatre arenas? Just comes to proof that through the ages, humans love to gather together and be entertained. Pretty much like dogs. Cats are content to sleep all day and to be left in peace.

Adding to the Litter

Acquiring new books is one of my Mommy’s favorite forms of entertainment. Here’s what’s new on our shelves:

  • Cragside: A 1930’s Murder Mystery by MJ Porter – For review from The History Quill Book Club
  • Drawn by the Current by Jocelyn Green – For review from Netgalley
  • Murder on Port Meadow by Annie & Maria Dalton – BookBub daily deals

My Mommy also has Book Club this week, so there will be a brand new stack of books on the nightstand. I wonder what she’ll get this time?

In case you’ve missed any of our posts this week:

  1. Monday – Book Review: Lucifer’s Game by Cristina Loggia
  2. Tuesday – Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Books our Grandchildren will probably also read
  3. Wednesday – Wondrous Words Wednesday: Frustration
  4. Friday – Weekend Book Friends #27: Featuring Songbirds by Christy Lefteri
  5. Saturday – Book Review: A Collection of Secrets by Brook Peterson

(We’ve just spend an hour making this stupid graphic. Gosh, I hate CANVA)

On the Couch

Recently Finished

  • Rock, Paper Scissors (will review later in the week on Instagram)
  • The Christy Affair (maybe, just maybe our review will be up later today)
  • The Dog Walkers (hopefully our review will be ready sometime during the week)

Currently Reading

We’ve just started with Project Hail Mary, but can already see what all the fuss was about. It’s good! Kaspar is our Titanic choice for this year. Every year we try to read one book with a Titanic setting in April. Just to show we will never forget. Cragside is our current review book and it’s quite enjoyable so far.

Currently Watching

We’ve watched the first 2 episodes of Bridgerton 2 and it is delightful yes! We do miss our dark and brooding duke though… My Mommy has read the first 4 books in the series and I just need to stop her before she grabs the 5th one. Too many other books still waiting. Eloise’s story can wait a week or two more.

What have you been up to?

Thank you to all our wonderful hosts! Debbie @ Readerbuzz with The Sunday Salon, Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer with The Sunday Post and Marlene @ Reading Reality with Stacking the Shelves.

  1. Ouch 3 days without internet. A few hours without internet is already too much in my opinion, so that long sounds really tough. I hope you can finish up those projects soon. Thanks as always for visiting my blog and helping with my tours!

    • Hi there Lola! If it’s at home, I can still cope ever so slightly without internet. At school it’s a totally different story though!!

It’s always fun working with you and thanks for hosting such wonderful tours all the time!

  2. Oh my goodness, you’re right about the wifi symbol!

I just saw Drawn by the Current mentioned on another blog. I love that cover.

Have you read The Martian? I liked it and Project Hail Mary. I somehow missed Weir’s other book.

    Enjoy your week!

    • Hi there Jen!

I saw the wi-fi symbol and it just popped in my head that it looks like a Greek Theatre! LOL!!

I haven’t read The Martian no, I have a copy of the book, but all my books are still in boxes until all the renovations are done. I’m enjoying Project Hail Mary, just didn’t have time to listen this week. Hopefully the upcoming week will be a bit better!

    • I’m still only two episodes in, but I do plan on watching one or two or just all of them later this afternoon! Yes, the appearance of the Duke is a miss. But let’s give Anthony a chance as well. He’s also quite soft on the eyes. But not quite as dashing!

    • I’ve read the first 4 books in the Bridgerton series and yes, it really is a lot of fun to read. Just light hearted. The series are also brilliant adaptations and I will recommend it yes!

So sorry for the late reply, I hope you had a good week!

We do like a lot of the same kinds of books. Project Hail Mary is on my first half of 2022 list.

  4. Some days I think I am more suited for the cat life. I could use a nap right about now. 🙂 I keep hearing great things about Project Hail Mary and am glad to hear you are enjoying it. I recently started watching Bridgerton’s second season and am only two episodes in. I hope you have a good week and enjoy your reading!

    • I’m definitely better suited to be a cat for sure. I’m still only two episodes in with Bridgerton, but I do plan to watch a few episodes later this afternoon. Didn’t have much time to listen to Project Hail Mary, but I will hopefully get to it this week.

Hope you had a good week and that you are looking forward to the new week!

  5. I never thought before that the WiFi symbol is similar to a greek theater! I enjoyed Bridgerton so much. I want to read the books once I have more time as I’ve heard the books are much better than the show, but I”m loving the show too!

    • Hi Wendy!

And now I only reply to last Sunday’s post…! At least I have spoken to you on other posts this week. I’ve read the first 4 of The Bridgerton series and actually want to read the 5th one so badly now! I am practicing the strongest will power ever to first get my review books done and dusted though!

    • Hi Nadene!

One of my colleagues will agree completely with you. I’m not done with Season 2 yet, so no opinion from my side. Yet! I hope you had a good week and will have a good week to come!

  6. That’s really interesting about the wifi signal looking like a Greek theatre arena. I’ve never thought about that before. I’ll never be able to unsee it now. It looks like you’ve had a good reading week. I hope you have a good week this week too.

    • Hi Jenni!

Being back at school, life is super busy – but somehow I do still manage to read a bit. The blog and answering comments are the thing that drags behind. So sorry for the late reply!

I had some great reading this week as well, will review them during the upcoming week for sure.

  7. I never noticed how the Wi-fi symbol looks like a Greek theater. Interesting! All of your books look interesting, though I haven’t read any of them.

    Have a great week!

    • It actually just popped in my head as well and I thought I just have to share it with you guys!

So sorry for the late reply, I hope you had a good week and will have a good one to look forward to.

      Hi Cindy,

It will be my first Jocelyn Green book, but I am really looking forward to it.

I hope you’ve had a good week and are looking forward to the weekend.

      Hi there Yvonne!

School started again on Tuesday and there hasn’t been that much time for reading. I’m only reading Cragside at night when I finally fall into bed and then I only get to read a few pages as well.

I hope your week has been good!

    • elzaread

Very strange to say Project Hail Mary and Bridgerton in one sentence. You can’t get more diverse, but both are very enjoyable and I will definitely recommend it!

Thanks for stopping by and have a good week Vicki!

  8. Cats have it made. They get to sleep a lot and be fed. Life is good.

I love the look of that mystery. What is it about mysteries set in olden times? Well I don’t know if 30’s qualifies as olden times, but kinda. anyway, Canva! I imagine it is time consuming- I’ve been thinking of trying it.

      Hi Greg!

If I look at Elza, she really does have it made. She sleeps all day, get fed whenever she but rubs against my legs, get lots of hugs and kisses and gets away with murder.

I don’t know exactly what it is about olden time murder mysteries, but yes – they are just better. Cragside is something different, completely different writing style and does remind me a bit of a game of Cluedo. I quite like it! Will keep you guys posted.

Oh Canva can steal hours yes. That’s why I am trying to have pre-designs as far as possible so I can just use them over and over again! Problem is just that I change my mind every second week…

Have a good week Greg and take care!

        • elzaread

My week has been crazy with school started on Tuesday again, but it’s good so far and I am looking forward to the weekend.

Have a good week doing all your planned reading and writing!

Bridgerton is just for fun and to relax and unwind a bit. Same as the books. But never underestimate the power of those relaxing hours.

I am enjoying Cragside yes, will keep you guys posted.

      Have a good week Erin!

      Hi Trin!

I’ve done my Titanic remembrance reading for a couple of years and never got to it last year. So this year I’ve made sure that plan ahead and read ahead as well.

Thanks for stopping by and have a good week!

  10. So many books for you to read! Hope this week you get to find quiet time to do so. Are you building something, or is that a metaphor for something else? I read the first in that Bridgerton book series but haven’t watched the tv series. Maybe today, if it’s quiet? I’d like to try Project Hail Mary. I hear so many good things about it and my son has it, so I could borrow it. Have a good reading week ahead!

Hi there Mia! No we are busy with renovations at our house – no metaphors!

I have read the first 4 books in the series and finished the first series adaptation. Think I might just read the 5th one for the fun of it somewhere this week!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you will have a good week too.

    • elzaread

One of my co-workers at school told me the exact same thing this morning! She wasn’t planning on watching the whole series in one sitting either.. LOL!! As soon as my husband is away again, I will binge it.

      Have a good week AJ!

      • Hi there Maya!

I’ve missed your comment last week, so sorry about that. We have some dreadful weather here with us, so I am planning on watching Bridgerton this afternoon under a warm blanket.

        Have a good week!
