Greetings you guys! I trust you are all enjoying a wonderful Easter Weekend? My Mommy is terribly upset, her favorite easter eggs are nowhere to be found in our little town. Easter without you easter eggs just don’t feel right at all and something is definitely amiss.
So now we spend our time reading, blogging and diamond painting. We had a very good week here on the blogosphere and my Mommy actually deserves those easter eggs. We didn’t even buy any new books or downloaded any for free. We also didn’t get any new ones for review, but that is also okay. We are just starting to gain control over our TBR and ARC lists. The only thing we don’t have control over, are the easter eggs.
Scratching the Blog Pole
- Monday – Book Review: Trouble in Paradise (The Hardy Boys: Undercover Brothers #12) by Franklin W. Dixon. This was the first review written by one of my library students. Thank you for all the encouragement last week and for the support! The kids are so excited about this and I already have a whole stack of reviews to use.
- Tuesday – Top Ten Tuesday: A Dozen Authors We Still Want to Lay an Egg On
- Wednesday – Wondrous Words Wednesday: Titanic. Can you believe it’s been a 110 years??
- Friday – Book Review: Kaspar, Prince of Cats by Michael Morpurgo. Definitely my (Elza!) favorite read for the year. I’m more than a bit smitten with Kaspar.
- Friday – Book Review: Cragside: A 1930’s Murder Mystery by M.J. Porter. If you like a good game of Cluedo, you will love this one.
- Saturday – Book Review: My Dearest Miss Fairfax by Jeanette Watts. Yes, that Jane Fairfax and the dreadful Mr. Churchill from Emma. But the book was actually quite good.
On the Couch
We’ve reviewed all our recently read books and the reviews are listed above. We are currently reading Arthur and the Argonauts for Reedsy Discovery (you can find us there! Let us know if you are also a Reedsy Discovery reviewer) and listening to Project Hail Mary while doing our Diamond Painting. It’s really, really good.
The reason we’ve managed to do 2 reviews on Friday, was all thanks to Moonfall.Daddy wanted to watch it and Mommy tried to. For about 15 minutes. Then she pulled the laptop closer. If you haven’t seen it, please don’t bother! Rather read a book. It’s a serious heap of cat litter.
What have you been doing this Easter Weekend? Did you get your easter eggs?
Have a good week everyone!

Too bad about those Easter eggs. I hope you have better luck next year. Hope you enjoy your week!
Thanks Alicia! It’s been a short, but busy week!
Looking forward to a nice weekend, hope you are too!
So sorry you couldn’t get your Easter eggs this year. With no new books you definitely deserve them! My absolute favorite Easter candy is the caramel Cadbury eggs and for some reason the grocery store that I usually go to never got them in. I found them at another store but it was a scary few moments. I hope you have a wonderful week and get an extra treat to make up for your lack of Easter eggs.
The Cadbury Caramel Easter Eggs are actually something that is rather new here in SA. I haven’t had one yet, but I saw it on the shelves this year!
I wanted the hard candy chocolate shelled Easter eggs…..
Oh, no! No Easter eggs! I hate when things like that happen. Hope you muddled through your Easter eggless holiday okay.
Hi Tessa!
Oh it was just dreadful! The only consolation was all the hot cross buns I’ve eaten….
Have a great week and thanks so much for the link on Instagram!
So glad you are listening to Project Hail Mary, so good!
What’s diamond painting? Did you talk more about it in another post? Hint: if not, you should do a post on it, with some of your art work
Hi Emma!
I’m loving Project Hail Mary and would never have thought that I would. But I do. Ooh, Diamond Painting is the best craft ever invented. It’s rather brain-dead and you just stick sparkly dots on a canvas type thingy. I love it, because I can sit and listen to audiobooks for hours while doing it.
Great idea, I’ll tell you a bit more about it in another post and add some pictures of the ones I’ve completed already.
Wish I could read books with my grandkids! They are living so far away! Have a great week.
You must make your own audio books! Pick a book, read and record it and send it to them!
Lol… so sorry that Mommy wasted 15 minutes of her life on unwatchable rubbish – I know that feeling allll too well:)). And glad she is enjoying Project Hail Mary – I listened to it, too and think it’s an ideal book to hear. Particularly if you’re doing something enjoyable as well. Have a lovely week and it’s great to touch base with you. So sorry I’ve lost touch – but I simply don’t have the energy to keep visiting sites the way I used to. Hopefully there will come a time soon when I can do so again:).
Hi Sarah!
It’s so good to hear from you again, but I can understand that it’s not all that easy to do site visits when you just don’t have the energy. I love doing blog hopping, but it does take a lot of time.
You must take care of yourself and take your time with the recovery!
I’m sorry you couldn’t find your eggs. We had a quiet weekend for Easter. I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy Moonfall, but at least you got some great reading done. Have a great week!
Hi Wendy!
We also had a very quiet Easter and I am very grateful for that. The renovations really tire me out a bit and I think I might need a nice long holiday hereafter!
Nope, didn’t find any Easter eggs I liked, but I did eat a whole packet of hot cross buns!
Have a good week Wendy!
I really hate Jane Austen rewrites or continuations or whatever. The other things you wrote sound interesting. I hope you found some Easter Eggs that you did like.
best… mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Hi Mae! This was my first Jane Austen tie-in or call it whatever you want. I have to give a lot of credit to the author, her writing style was really good and it fit the time period well. I still don’t like Jane Fairfax or Mr. Churchill though!!
Have a good week and happy baking and reading!
Happy Easter! But awww about the Easter eggs. My niece was over to visit (she’s 11) so some Easter egg coloring was had as well. It’s been a while! I hope you had a wonderful holiday…
I need to go comment on that Hardy Boys review! Are you going to be sharing more?
Hi Greg!
We had a very relaxing Easter and honestly didn’t do much. No easter egg hunts or coloring for us though. Happy to just take a break from the renovations. It feels as if it’s taking forever!!!
Yes! I plan on sharing a review from the kids at once a week (hopefully) and I’m actually working on the next one right now.
Have a good week!
Oh that’s good news! And I’m glad you had a nice Easter!
Awww…I’m sorry about the Easter eggs. I hope you were able to have a good holiday anyway.
I love the graphic with the cat sleeping on the chair and Moonfall (I never saw it) on the TV and the books. It’s really cute.
Hope you have a great week!
Hi Yvonne!!
Oh Canva is my best friend. I love playing on Canva and will play for hours when I get going. You can really get just about anything on there! Glad you liked my graphic!!
Have a good week Yvonne and happy reading!
We did not get our Easter eggs here in France either! Maybe we will find some tomorrow and celebrate a day late.
We are staying in an Airbnb here in rural France and the owners of the home are in South Africa. Say hi to them for us if you see them, Mareli.
Glad you found your favorite book of the year already, Elza!
Hi Debbie!
How is that?! Do you know the owners’ names and where they are from? Gosh, I would love to have a little property in France. At this stage, I think I would love to have a little property anywhere but here! The renovations are starting to get the better of me for sure. But it will be all worth it in the end!
Safe travels home and I hope you had the most marvelous time!
I don’t know their names but they are from Candes-St Martin.
The only St Martin I know in South Africa is a private school in Johannesburg…
Happy Easter! I’m sorry to read you couldn’t find your Easter eggs. We’ve definitely been eating to much easter eggs this year. I’m going on a diet starting Tuesday. It’s getting out of control really! LOL!
Have a great week and happy reading.
Hi Maureen!
Good to hear from you! Candy and chocolate wasn’t my problem here this week, it was the carbs in the form of hot cross buns!! So I’ll join you for that diet tomorrow!
Have a good week!
Happy Easter! I’m sorry you can’t find your favorite Easter eggs. That’s a bummer. 🙁 I hope you still can make the best of it. I hope you have a fantastic week.
I’m not a big sugar eater, but this weekend I carb overloaded big time with hot cross buns galore. But I did miss my Easter Eggs…
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you will have a good week ahead!
I too have a particular candy egg I love and if I did not get them I would be thoroughly upset – especially because they now come in DARK CHOCOLATE flavoring under the delicious candy shell. Easter candy really is the best kind of candy.
Hi Sarah! Those are EXACTLY the ones I am looking for! The candy covered chocolate ones… Oh it’s just dreadful! But I am very happy for you that you at least got your easter eggs.
Thanks for stopping by and have a good week ahead!
The ones made by Cadbury?? They’re the absolute BEST Easter candy, hands down. If they would survive the journey and still be edible, I would send some to you!
YES!!!!! Aaah you are so sweet Sarah, but it will be all broken and probably get lost in our wonderful postal services here in SA. Next year I will make sure to stock up long before the time!
It sounds like you had a great week! I love that you multitask while watching a movie that really doesn’t interest you – this is so me! Have a wonderful week!
Hi Jodie!
I’m not a very good tv person all over. I normally sit and blog or knit or something when watching tv and will only ONLY watch tv when it really captures my attention. Moonfall was seriously crappy so I just switched off completely and managed to do a whole book review! LOL!!
Thanks for the visit and have a good week ahead!
I liked Project Hail Mary and see they may do a movie starring Ryan Gosling. Hope yuor Easter is a good one and you find those eggs 🙂
Hi there Tina!
Oooh Ryan Gosling… Now that is a good fit! I am enjoying the audio version very much indeed.
Thanks for visiting us, I hope you will have a good week!
I love that the kids enjoy the books so much. Reminds me of my first walk down booklane. Back then it was Boxcar children.
Hi there Trin!
Believe it or not, we actually have one or two Boxcar children books in the library. The old ones…. will get one of the kids to read and review it.
Have a good week.
What a shame you couldn’t find your favorite Easter eggs :(. I hope you have a great day reading, blogging, diamond painting.
LOL Lola!! Thanks for having sympathy with me Easter pain. Simply dreadful. I did have a good day, but didn’t really read a lot. Will go to bed early and go and read!
Have a good week ahead!
Ha, I love your post. Were you looking for already colored eggs or decorative eggs? When my kids were little I helped them dye the hard boiled eggs but I usually wound up cracking some since I’m not very good at boiling the eggs!
I’m glad to hear Project Hail Mary is interesting. I’ve been considering it.
And can you explain what a diamond painting is to this craft-challenged person?
Hi Mia!
Glad to hear you are enjoying our posts! I was looking for chocolate candy coated eggs. You normally get boxes of them, but this year there is just nothing….!
Oooh you should Google Diamond Dot Painting. It’s the best craft ever invented and always soooo pretty!!!
Thanks for visiting us Mia, I hope you will have a good week.
