The Sunday Post #72

Posted May 22, 2022 by elzaread in The Sunday Post / 30 Comments

Greetings you guys! Oh how I’ve missed you!! I bet you’ve missed me terribly as well. I haven’t spoken to you guys in 3 whole weeks.

Two weeks ago, my Mommy had to do The Sunday Post as I had my tail in a knot and refused to talk to her or Daddy for days. I honestly thought it would work and they would just give in and come begging for attention. But do you know what they did??? They packed and went on holiday. Can you believe that! I have to be honest, I got the fright of my life and thought they might never come back. Luckily they did and I will never, ever behave like the spoiled brat I am, again.

They said they had a wonderful time in Mauritius. They brought us all some lovely presents and they enjoyed the island life tremendously. My Mommy says the only thing that she didn’t like, is all the stray animals. Cats and dogs alike. I guess I should really start counting my blessings a bit more…

Here’s a few fun pics of their holiday!

I don’t need to tell you that she didn’t have a lot of time for blogging, you can see that on the blog over the last week or two. But we promise to be back in full swing as from this upcoming week! Or as full swing as possible with a broken internet cable… We are currently on my Mommy’s cellphone data and for those of you who don’t know, data is worth it’s non-weight in gold here in SA. Maybe we should just move to Mauritius.

My Mommy did plan on reading way more than she actually did during their stay, but she actually only managed to finish two books. The Woman in the Library and The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper. Both were big hits with her and our review for The Woman in the Library will hopefully be up somewhere this week.

We are not sure if we’ve received any new books this past week, our emails are a bit of a jungle that we still need to find a path through. We will use Daddy’s data tonight and go on an adventure.

Currently we are reading Old Bones and Ice Cream Cones and as always, we love our stay in Destiny Falls.

I am going to love and leave you guys now so that we can start sorting through our emails and plan our week ahead. My Mommy has to be back at school tomorrow as well and if you ask me, she is rather ill prepared for the week. Let’s see if she can pull it off….

I hope you guys are all doing well and will have a wonderful week to come!

  1. Wow great photos. Does it take a long while to get to Mauritius? Looks like beautiful beaches there, though the stray animals would weigh on my heart a lot. I didn’t realize it was a densely populated island. What do I know … half way across the world?! Apparently not much. Sounds like your holiday was fabulous. Glad to hear!

  2. What a wonderful looking vacation! I’m glad Elza survived the indignity of being left behind. My cat is not a fan either and definitely lets us know. I hope you are having a wonderful week!

  3. Ooo… I’m sure you don’t begrudge Mommy and Daddy having such a fabulous holiday – it looks like they had a fantastic time! Lovely to touch base again with you, Elza:)). And I hope the internet issue is soon sorted out – I HATE it when ours goes down. I always feel as if I’ve lost a limb. Take care and have a lovely week:))).

  4. Mauritius must be a wonderful place to visit. All that warm sunshine and those beautiful beaches look fantastic. I’m glad you learned your lesson, Elza.

And I think finishing two books while on vacation is doing well. I’ve been traveling almost constantly since the end of March and I’m way behind on my reading.

  5. Your holiday was so beautiful! I’m like you though – it breaks my heart to see stray cats and dogs when I’m visiting someplace. We went to France not long before Covid hit and there were so many stray cats in a park. I just wanted to scoop them up and find them a good home (or take them home myself 😇). Have a great week. Hope you get your internet back!

    • Hi Tessa!

As much as I love cats, I always think that they can survive better than dogs on the streets. Dogs really suffer without human intervention. Cats are slightly more resourceful. But I still hate the thought that there are so many pets on the streets. Even here with us. But our little town does try to feed and home as many of them as possible. The organization I got Elza from, are really lovely.

      Have a good week Tessa!

  6. Looks like fun! Island life!!! Surprised you came back. 🙂 But Elza would have been super sad then so all is well that ends well right?

Hope your week gets off to a good start. 🙂

    • Hi Greg! You won’t need to invite me twice to just pack up and go live on an island. It’s beautiful and everything is actually functioning so well. Much better than here in SA!! Getting the pets there will be a problem though yes…. Their quarantine for imported pets is a month. Elza will never survive that!!

      Have a good week!

Glad mommy and daddy had a nice vacation and the you appreciate them even more now LOL. It is sad to be on an island vacation and see homeless animals. That happened to us the first few years we went to Aruba that I even packed cat food the following year. But by year 3, the homeless animals seemed to have disappeared. I like to think that they found lovely homes.

    • Hi there Diane!

I remember when we went to Mozambique a couple of years ago, there was a stray cat that lived with us for the whole week. I think she was very innovative and always hope that other people will take care of her as well.

The cats in Mauritius are okay, it’s the dogs that broke my heart. But the locals do try to take care of them, so it’s not a complete lost cause.

Thanks for visiting us and I hope you will have a wonderful week!

What beautiful photos! I still think Mauritius is an incredibly remote location, but I love sub-tropical and tropical islands so I’m sure I’d be delighted if I could travel there.

  9. I’m glad your mommy and daddy had such a wonderful time in Mauritius. Their pictures are fun. I’m also glad you’re feeling better, Elza, and that you’ve realized how good you have it. My Dax sometimes needs a wake up call so she doesn’t act so spoiled too, lol.

I hope you and your mommy have a good week. Tell your mommy thanks for stopping by my blog and responding to my last comment. 🙂
