The Sunday Post #75

Posted June 26, 2022 by elzaread in The Sunday Post / 46 Comments

Greetings you guys! How have you all been doing? I am happy to report that we’ve had a bit of rainfall in our region. Our water supply dam is still only at 13%, but we continue to be hopeful for more rains to fall.

It’s dreadfully cold here and I have to let you guys know just how wonderful my Mommy and Daddy is. My Daddy sees I’m a real little sh*t and spoiled rotten, but I think it’s important to know what you want in this life and stick to it. I don’t like to sleep under the bedcovers. Or in a basket. I want to sleep on Mommy and Daddy’s bed with just a light blanky over me. My own blanky please. Nothing else is acceptable. Therefore, Mommy and Daddy climbs into bed every night with my pink blanky close at hand. Wherever I move on the bed during the night, they will then tuck me in with my blanky. Aren’t they just wonderful?!

Most of the renovations are done and now the fun parts start. Decorating, unpacking, throwing stuff away… Quite a few DIY projects are happening here as well and my Mommy is going through a box of plasters faster than a kindergarten teacher on playground duty. Luckily for her she found this fun box of Frozen plasters. So now she can watch my namesake on her cut up fingers while she holds the measuring tape for Daddy.

Needless to say, reading and blogging is taking the backburner at the moment, but just give us a few days and we’ll start relaxing on the couch. We will also post a few pics next week.

Adding to the Litter

The fact that her bookshelves aren’t quite ready yet and that she hardly has team to read at the moment, hasn’t stopped my Mommy from buying and accepting new books.

Our favorite feline author (oh, she is so marvelous, she might as well have been a cat) Elizabeth Pantley, is busy with a brand new series. Whoo hoo! We can’t wait to start with the first instalment, Shifting and Shenanigans. Of course we promise to tell you all about it.

My Mommy had to take her car in for a service last Tuesday and of course se went unprepared and just had to pop in at the first available bookshop. There she found a book she’s been meaning to read for years on sale! The Pink Suit. She did start with it, but didn’t get very far yet. She also bought Us against Them, the sequel to Bear Town. Now that was a book we really enjoyed and we hope that the next instalment will be just as good.

Scratching the Blog Pole

As I’ve said, blogging is a bit slow lately. But at least we are still here! Here’s what you might have missed over the last 2 weeks:

  • Book Review: The Scarlet Oak by Jerry Aylward – This was a decent read, we just struggled a bit to know under what genre we had to slot it. So we just picked a few. Historical, Romance, Murder Mystery and Paranormal.
  • Happy Second Anniversary! – Wow I can’t believe we’ve been gracing the blogosphere for two years again!
  • Throwback Thursday with The Companionship of Harold Fry and Miss Queenie Hennessy.
  • Book Review: Someone in Time – A collection of time travelling short stories. It was interesting and there’s definitely something there for everyone. We also joined Greg @ Book Haven for Tuesday Taglines!
  • Book Review: Close your Eyes by Chris Tomasini – Aaaah, this was sooooo beautiful. I really have the world’s respect for indie authors. Just throw your baby out in the cold world of the published world like that. But you guys, this book really, really is just so unbelievably good. We loved it and we hope that thousands of readers out there will also pick it up.

On the Couch

We haven’t been watching a lot of television lately and I actually can’t think of anything that is standing out at the moment. We will watch your posts to see what is up and coming. We do try to get some reading in and will definitely finish Project Hail Mary this week. Our Pigeonhole read is quite fun and the short story, A Scandal in Brooklyn will be up for review later this week.

We do need to apologize for not giving our best bunny performance lately, aka – blog hopping. We really do appreciate every visit and comment and will try our utmost best to work on our bunny manners.

We wish you all a wonderful week ahead and remember to link up to our gorgeous hosts Debbie @ Readerbuzz with The Sunday Salon, Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer with The Sunday Post and Marlene @ Reading Reality with Stacking the Shelves.

  1. The pink suit sounds great and what a fabulous cover. I’ve been able to read some and it helps me get out of my head at 11pm. On most nights I’m still awake at that time and snag 10 minutes of reading time during my overnight job.

    • Hi there Jen!

We’ve had some rain, but not nearly enough and still pray for more rain to fall. There’s a lot of issues surrounding the dam levels that actually goes beyond rain as well. Maintenance, agricultural issues…

  2. Oh Elza looks so cute all snuggled up with her blanket! I’m crossing my fingers for you that the DIY projects are coming to an end or at least your fingers are feeling better! Enjoy your reading (and the new bookshelves!) and hope you are having a wonderful week!

  3. I have not been as faithful with blog hopping either, it was much harder to keep up with things on vacation than I was anticipating. I am hoping to catch up this week. I hope your fingers heal quickly and your library gets finished!

    • I’m not the world’s greatest DIY fan either, but luckily my husband is quite good with it and that helps.

I also like decorating and one of best friends is an interior designer. So that helps a lot too!

  4. Happy two year anniversary! I stopped counting mine (I have six blogs), and my time with each ranges from twelve to fourteen years.

    Enjoy your week!

  5. Glad to hear that you finally got a little rain. We’re finally getting rain here in my part of Canada; it’s been about a month since we’ve gotten rain. So the farmers will appreciate this, as long as it doesn’t get too heavy.

    • Hi Pam! We haven’t had good and proper rainfall in our region for close to 5 years. Very sporadic and miss management of resources doesn’t help a lot either.

I hope you will have a good week and that the rain continues to fall there!

  6. That is pretty spoiled. My dogs get to sleep in bed with me but they don’t get their own blanket. Of course, they take up a lot more room in the bed! Good luck with the DIY projects. I hope that you have a great week!

    • Hi Carole!

As small as Elza is, she takes over this bed. Our dogs sleep in the scullery and they actually also both have their own blankets….

Wishing you a great week as well!

    • Hi there Tessa! I finished Project Hail Mary this afternoon and really was sooo good! The ending wasn’t what I expected, but then again – I have no idea what I expected….!

Hope you will have a good week!!

  7. How wonderful that you are getting settled in a bit more! Renovations can be a pain, but when they are finished, it’s wonderful!
I have happily read a few of Backman’s books and am glad to see them in your basket! Cute image by the way! Project Hair Mary is on my TBR – so many books, so little time!

    • Hi Patricia! I think as soon as I am over being so tired and rather fed up with all the building and renovations, I will enjoy the end result a lot yes!

I also love Fredrik Backman’s books a lot.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  8. I’m so glad it rained! I hope it rains more so you can replenish your water supply. My cats are just as spoiled as Elza. They deserve it, though. They bring me so much joy as I’m sure Elza does for you.

    • Hi there Jenni!

They did predict more rain from this weekend and into next week as well. Let’s keep our fingers crossed yes!!

Elza does bring a lot of joy yes. She came into my life during a slightly dark era and she’s always just been a ray of sunshine!!

  9. Firstly, you are such a beautiful cat Elza! I can see why Mommy and Daddy are treating you so well! Since I fit the bill, A Midlife Holiday is a book I need to read! I hope you have a wonderful week!

    • Hi there Jodie!

Aah thank you! Elza really is a gorgeous little thing, but she might be slightly too spoiled for her own good!!

I am enjoying A Midlife Holiday very much and I am not too far from that myself….!

  10. I’m glad your renovations are almost done. I’m sure that’s been a disruptive force in your life.

I bought a couple (well, would five be considered a couple? Maybe the word is several…) books while I was in Montana. But, hey, I was on vacation…You have no need to justify your purchases either.

I keep thinking about Throwback Thursday. One of these days!

Have a great week, Mareli and Elza!

    • Dear Debbie!

Yes the last 6 months have been seriously disruptive yes. I am also very glad that it’s just about done. A few things will need to be double checked, but that’s the normal procedure of things isn’t it!

Glad to hear you had such a fun time and no, we never have to justify our holiday purchases!

Hope you will have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading all your great books!

  11. A cute picture ❤️ it is “hot” here in the UK. We don’t seem to get that much rain but it’s rare to get a hosepipe ban so maybe it happens and I just don’t notice it!

We have been in our house 5 years and my partner did my son’s bedroom and my dad decorated the downstairs. It was newly decorated (neutrally) when we moved in so it hasn’t needed much doing to it.

Have a great week ahead with hopefully less plasters and more reading!

    • Hi there Emily!

We are also in our house for 5 years, but we bought an old house and have been busy with renovations ever since. On and off of course. But hopefully we are done now!! A few things I want to do in garden and looking forward to that.

Elza only makes cute pictures…! LOL!!

Have a good week Emily and have good week ahead.

  12. I’ve wanted to read Andy Weir’s other books and thanks to you, I got it today. Car service can be the pits. I recently went to look for a car and came across a car lot that only sells water damaged cars, can you believe it!
