The Sunday Post #76

Posted July 10, 2022 by elzaread in The Sunday Post / 36 Comments

Greetings you guys! Guess where we are sitting right now typing this post? YES!! In my Mommy’s Library! Daddy just brought the computer down and set up the printer and everything. Gosh, Heaven truly must be some sort of a library.

Just about all the renovations are done now, but the pavers are a bit of a disaster and will need to be redone. Completely. *sigh* Luckily that is outside. Me and Mommy worked very hard the last two weeks. Unpacking boxes with an adorable white cat who is ever so eager to lend a hand, was apparently no easy task.

My Mommy still has one more week of holidays and I really, really do hope she plans on just reading and relaxing a bit. Please….

What have you been up to?

Adding to the Litter

The History Quill Book Club is one of my Mommy’s favorite book discovery sites and she has never been disappointed in any of her review copies from them. As the name suggests, they primarily deal with historical fiction. They decided to try a few different genres as well and seeing that we’ve had a lucky streak with fantasy recently, we are willing to give Between the Lines a go. The other two books are from Netgalley, our trusted old friend.

Between the Lines

Life flourishes in the Book, a realm of stacked worlds, like the pages of a novel. Each more unique than the last. Those who can travel through them are page turners. Blessed with the power to go from one page to the next. For investigator Fiona Thorne, being a turner is normal life. Solving mysteries is where the excitement lives. Minor cases are still work to be done, people to be helped, and she’s determined to make an impact in the Book, no matter what.

Blaze, the page of fire, is wasting away. Fire elementals are being smuggled out in waves, but by whom? Fiona is on the job and nothing will hold her back, not even the overbearing Travel Guild. They may run the Book, but they don’t rule her. With the fire page and its creatures on the brink of winking out, she has to race to unravel who the smugglers are and how to stop them. Is there more to this case than it seems? Can Fiona read between the lines and solve it in time?

Fire & Ice

After encountering a brief power outage at work, college student Sara Donovan might be allowing her imagination to run wild. The main vault in the Carlton Museum holds the Fire and Ice Exhibit, a collection of rare gems, including the Star of Midnight, a 175-carat diamond. Although all the stones are accounted for, Sara suspects the Star of Midnight was stolen and replaced with a fake.

While conducting her own investigation, what Sara uncovers is beyond even her wildest imagination: a coded message, papers with strange characters, and a mysterious set of numbers carved into an office wall. Despite dismissive historians and other experts, she is certain these clues point to a mysterious centuries-old legend.

Unfortunately, her colorful history of usually being right, but always being wrong, means she must solve the mystery to prove her theory.

The Time Trials

After the deaths of his parents in a horrific car accident — one that he considers his own fault — Walkman-toting, guitar-playing Finn Mallory would do anything to turn back time…to press “rewind.” When he’s admitted on full scholarship to an elite boarding school, things get more complicated: he becomes an “Unfortunate” in a sea of rich kids whose shoes cost more than his late parents made in a week. An invitation to a boring-sounding history club changes everything, as this team does much more than research and field trips.

Well….they do take field trips. Just not the kind you’re thinking. For Finn, the present was already enough to deal with, but now he finds that he also must reckon with the past, in more ways than one.

  1. Your mommy’s library is gorgeous and looks so inviting. I can see why you think it’s Heaven. I moved this last weekend (finally) and I’m in the process of unpacking my library and getting it set up. I hope you’ve had a good week so far and continue to have a good week. 🙂

  2. Oooo… and yes – that’s drool, I’m afraid. Most unbecoming in a woman of a certain age. Pure, envious drool at the sight of that fabulous library of yours:)). I do hope you can persuade Mom to sit down and relax a bit after slaving away at getting all those books organised and sorted. A space like that needs to be appreciated – have a great week, Elza:)).

    • Sarah!

We have been having a slightly calmer week yes, but it’s quickly coming to an end.

So glad to hear you approve of our library! Oh you are allowed to drool. Women of a certain age shouldn’t let anything bother them at all and any behavior is quite acceptable.

      Hope you are doing well!

    • Hi there Terrie!

Yes, setting up the library really was a lot of work, but it is so worth it. I do still have a couple of little things that I still need/want to do, but that can happen in time.

Thanks for the visit and for letting me know about Tomorrow and Tomorrow!

You’ve got some amazing reads going on – especially The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place! It looks fun!

  4. I absolutely love your library! You are so lucky to have that great space ❤️ Hope you enjoy it and that you have a great week!

    • Hi there Jodie! Thank you! Just happy to be able to use the space that we actually didn’t know what to do with.

I also hope that I will have lots of time for reading this week. Think after the last two weeks, I think I deserve some reading time…

      Thanks for the visit Jodie!

Those renovations and ALL the lovely shelves of books are enviable. I think I could spend several hours browsing LOL Have a good week.

    • I still need to tweak a couple of things. All my little ornaments and sentimental stuff still needs to be unpacked and I need a carpet. But otherwise, it’s perfect!! Squeal!!

Thanks for the compliment on our blog design, we try our best….
