The Sunday Post #79

Posted August 7, 2022 by elzaread in The Sunday Post / 42 Comments

Greetings guys! It’s a dreadfully cold, windy and rainy day here in our beautiful little coastal town (weather update – check).

Our week was crazy busy and “gat oor kop” (that means head over tails in Afrikaans). The little mutt is still alive and growing like a gremlin. I kid you not (update on the family – check).

Of course in order for her to put all the stress of the past week behind her, my Mommy went for some retail therapy. The mutt needed a couple of things and the Pet Shop does happen to be two doors down from the Book Shop.

The joys of having a good Book Shop and a shop assistant who knows what you like…. You are not mistaken that none of the Pet Shop goodies are cat friendly. So I just photoshopped myself in the picture (stacking the shelves – check)

We did try to be on the blog as much as possible. Once again, so sorry for our terrible lack in bunny skills. But here’s our posts if you’ve missed it:

(Blog posts – checked)

We are still busy with Lessons in Chemistry, we didn’t have a lot of time to read this week. Our latest Pigeonhole pick is The Secrets of Sainte Madeleine, a family saga about wine. My Mommy loves it. Are we the only ones who find How to stop Time slightly tedious? We will finish it, because we are naturally inquisitive though.  (Currently reading – checked)

And that’s it from us this week! Yes, we know it’s short and sweet. But we feel terrible for being such horrible bunnies and don’t get to hop over to all of you. So that’s what we are going to do now. Catch up on the bunny trail a bit. And go snuggle with our books.

Have a wonderful week you guys and remember to add your link to our lovely hosts: Debbie @ Readerbuzz with The Sunday Salon, Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer with The Sunday Post and Marlene @ Reading Reality with Stacking the Shelves.

    • I don’t think you have to remove it from your TBR, I think it might just be one of those books that will be better to read than listen to. Some parts feel drawn out, but the storyline is still decent!

Thanks for the visit and I hope you will have a good week ahead.

  1. I think the UK has stolen your nice weather. Despite being the height of summer here August is usually quite damp, but this year we’ve had quite the heatwave. I hope your skies clear soon so that you can enjoy some time outside. Happy reading.

  2. A book shop next to a pet store sounds like heaven! As I was typing this Comet was trying to walk on my keyboard so I think he was trying to say hi to Elza – or complain about having a dog about the house!

    • Hi Katherine!

The two shops so closely situated, does make life a lot easier and more expensive.

Aaaah – hi Comet! I know know – can you believe my human ALSO brought a dog home. What’s wrong with this species??? How on earth can we not be enough???!! We should start a secret army and begin with world domination.

Tell your human we hope she is doing well and taking nice relaxing moments with you on her lap, that’s all you need in this world.

  3. Some weeks are just like that! A little retail therapy never hurts though. And hope the mutt is doing well. I can’t believe I just called him the mutt.

    • Hi Greg!

With school and teaching, you actually have more crazy weeks than relaxed, layed back ones.

The mutt, Anna (hey, she’s a she) is doing very well! Lying here next to me and sleeping – she appears like a little angel teddy bear. But just wait for her to wake-up…!!! It’s chaos!!

  4. I don’t visit our bookshop in town nearly enough. It’s in a difficult location, but I know that’s just an excuse. I’m glad you have a friendly bookstore nearby. Have a wonderful week!

    • Hi Wendy!

You don’t really need to visit the book shop – you always have the best ARC’s! But I understand, it is the most fun to just browse through the stacks of books and take a few home.

Thanks for the visit and I hope you will have a good week ahead!

  5. Ah the weather. It is sunny here at home so I am missing the grey and occassional rain when we were on holiday 🤣😂

How lovely to have a pet shop and book shop near by! I am desperate to read Lessons in Chemistry so have to hope that I get it for Christmas 😂🤣

    Have a great week!

  6. LOL, you are funny!! I think it’s going to be trouble having the bookshop and pet shop so close together 😉 Our weather is hot and sunny, with a chance of rain later. I hope you have a wonderful week!

    • Hi Cindy!

Always happy to make you laugh!

Oh it’s not the worst trouble to have the pet shop and the book shop so closely together. The problem is just that I tend to have no money about a week after payday…..

Hope you will have a good week too!

    • It rather is Yvonne!!! I just told Debbie that I tend to sometimes walk on the other side of the walkway to make sure I don’t get tempted.

Have a good week and happy reading!

    • Hi Lisa!

I’ve read The Midnight Library and really enjoyed the movie, A Boy called Christmas. Don’t think I’ll read the book too. How to stop time is actually very good, there’s just parts that I find a bit tedious.

Elza has her own treats, she just loves to be the ultimate drama queen.

Have a good week Lisa and thanks for the visit!!!

    • I also used to spend at least half my Sunday blog hopping, but this year has been so crazy and Sundays are my only time to read and just relax. So yes, blog hopping is taking a back burner. But it will all be better again.

I loved doing my Seven Sisters Tour and wouldn’t it be awesome if someone really plans a tour like that!

    • We need the rain, so we mustn’t complain too much and this is winter rainfall area.

I am enjoying Lessons in Chemistry a lot and hope to get to the new ones soon. I have read Project Hail Mary, just wanted to have it on my shelf.

      Thanks for visiting Jodie!

  7. I think sometimes I’m happier to hear that a book I’ve considered reading is “tedious” rather than good…One book I can strike from my list.

Right now, I have to drive a half hour to get to a bookstore, but I have a friend who is planning to start a bookshop here in town soon…Oh dear! Love your retail therapy, and it’s got to be cheaper than weekly visits with a pro.

    Have a lovely week, Mareli!

    • Hi there Debbie!

Oh yea for a new Book Shop!! I’m sure you will give lots of input.

I love our Book Shop. I sometimes tend to walk on the other side of the walkway to make sure I’m not tempted though….

Have a good week Debbie and take care!
