Greetings you guys! It’s Tuesday and time to get serious about reading series’ with Top Ten Tuesday. TTT is hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. Remember to pay her a visit and to add your linky and to visit your fellow bloggers. Seriously, you need to start reading that series you’ve been putting off ever since Eskom first introduced load shedding.
Personally, I don’t read that many series. The problem with a series is you need to read them ALL, for if you take one out, none of the other bulbs will light up and you will be sitting in the dark. Seriously, you need to start reading that series you’ve been putting off ever since Eskom first introduced load shedding.

The ones we have read the first one in the series:
Maisie Dobbs
Flavia de Luce
Phryne Fisher
The ones we haven’t even started yet. Do we still want to read the Meg Cabot one? Hmmmm…. Need to go dig a bit.
Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
The Dark Tower
The Mediator
The ones we’ve read more than one in the series, but still not them all.
The Raven Cycle
Department Q
Temperance Brennan
And the series that has been on our TBR the longest, but we still haven’t even started. Does it count if we’ve read quite a few other books by the same author, but they are not part of a series?
So when do we plan on starting/finishing all of these? Your guess is as good as mine. It will have to be light bulb moment.

What series is next in line for you? And which series has blown a fuse?

I agree I usually just read the first one in a series and then peter out. I read the Hungers Games trilogy — perhaps the last full one I’ve read. But I’ve always wanted to try the Maisie Dobbs series … I’ve heard they’re good reads.
Great list! Oops, didn’t even know that Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy was part of a series…

Hi Emma!
I also didn’t know Hitchhikers Guide was a series, until I stared listening to it. It was a fun book to listen to, not sure if I’ll get to the rest of the series as well…
Ah good idea! I tried it some time ago, and I was shocked to realize it didn’t work too well for me, and I DNFed it. Then some time recently, I checked it out from the library. But I should try it as audio for sure!
Love your title! The Raven Cycle is still one of my all-time favorite series. I’ve read it multiple times. I hope you get to finish it!
Hi Dedra!
I’ve also ended up enjoying The Raven Cycle a lot, but not sure if I will read the spin-off series.
Thanks for the visit and so sorry for the terribly late reply. Tomorrow is TTT again…!
Hope you’ll love all of these when you have the light bulb moment 🙂
LOL!! Thank you Lindsey!
I rly wanna read the Dark Tower series by King one day!
Hi Esther!
I have read the first one in the Dark Tower series, but I just couldn’t get into at all. Apparently I need to push through, perhaps one day when I have time again!
The Raven Boys and The Hitchhiker’s Guide are a couple of all time favorites. Enjoy!
I ended up loving The Raven Boys! But I’m not sure if I will read the spin-off series.
I have so many series that I’ve only read one book in. Sometimes it’s because by the time the next one is published, I’ve moved on and forgotten about it. Or it was a mediocre read so I’m uninspired to keep reading. Sometimes it’s waiting on the library and I give up…..lots of factors. I think I actually rarely DECIDE not to finish a series. It just sort of fades away behind the shiny new one. 😉
thanks for visiting Mareli!
Hi Terrie!
I really am not a big series addict. The ones I really enjoy, like The Seven Sisters, I will read diligently. And I have a few Afrikaans series’ that I also enjoy and love to keep track. But otherwise, I’m not too fazed about it.
So sorry for the terribly late reply! Tomorrow is TTT again…
I don’t feel like I HAVE to finish a series if I start it. Even a good series, I sometimes just lose interest or find another series that I like better. I hope you finish the series that you really want to finish.
I agree Wendy!
Some series I really do want to finish and continue with and a few of these I haven’t even added to this list. The Cormoran Strike series is one of those!
If I lose interest, I will also let go quite easily.
I started Hitchhiker’s but never finished it. And I love humor but it didn’t… grab me? I’m such a bad blogger! I feel like I SHOULD like that book! Anyway I have thought about trying Maisie Dobbs…
Hi Greg!
Try The Hitchhikers Guide on Audible. It was brilliant to listen to it! I don’t think I would have enjoyed reading it either….
Oh I am definitely turning into the world’s worst blogger ever, I just don’t get around to everything!
It’s okay! And Hitchhiker’s on Audible is a great idea.
The Hitchhiker’s Guide series is my favorite! And I highly recommend the Tempe Brennan series by Kathy Reichs, another of my favorites.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
Hi there Cholla!
I can’t believe I still haven’t read the Temperance Brenner series. I know I’m going to love it, I just need to start with it.
I’ve read the first one of the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and I have enjoyed it, sure I will read the rest of the series as well!
Thanks for the visit and so sorry for the late reply…
LOL, I love how many times you said “serious.” Yes, we seriously need to read all the series, LOL. I have so many I am in the middle of and so many that I want to start. The problem is that I can’t make a living off full-time reading, LOL! I hope you enjoy all of these when you get a chance to read them.
I agree completely Cindy! If only we could make a living by reading …. Even working in a library, doesn’t get my to read much more. In fact, I think I read less! Days are full, schedules are tight. *Sigh*. But hey, at least we still enjoy it!
So true!!
Well.. I read a lot of series, but mostly standalone series. So if I don’t read them all it doesn’t really matter all that much. Obviously I’m a bit of a weirdo and need to read them all. LOL!! But you don’t have too 😀
These books look fun!
I don’t read a lot of series, but I actually love them! I just constantly get distracted by other books. *Sigh*. I am actually busy with an Afrikaans trilogy that I do enjoy a lot!
So glad to see you at TTT Maureen and thanks for stopping by!
Aaaah, the Dark Tower! I’m almost done with my reread. Still love them! I can really recommend if you like a dark, slightly paranormal, weird, fantasy horror with a twist of country western. The first book however, is NOT a good advocate. So once you’ve read that and don’t like it, PLEASE also read the second one.
I am so glad that you are saying that! I have a friend who also swears by The Dark Tower Series, but I struggled so much to get into the first one. Ha, now I’m willing to give it another go for sure.
Thanks so much for stopping by and for the great advice!
They look good. I don’t read many series because I get distracted by Blog Tours.
I’ve read Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy but have no desire to read the rest of the series.
Have a great week!

Oh the damn Blog Tours yes! Why are they so enticing??!!
I’ve also only read the first one in The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, maybe I will get to the rest of them eventually…
I read The Raven Boys but never continued the series. I decided it wasn’t for me (even though everyone else raved about it!).
Hi Tanya!
I have actually read the original ones of the Raven Boys, but not the spin off series.
It was quite good.
oh Eskom and the loadshedding! Very creative post 😉
Thanks Sarita!
The scariest thing of all regarding Eskom is how quickly we just got used to it…
I prefer to keep things simple and simply read one of a series. And stop.
It’s odd, I know.
Hi Debbie!
I’m very much the same… I do have my favorites that I’ve read all. Harry Potter, The Seven Sisters (just waiting for the last one), Robert Galbraith etc. Actually I’m behind on that one….
I hope you love all of them!
I few I’m still willing to give a go, but one or two are not going to happen before a newer series are going to pop up!
