It’s the weekend! Gosh, the past two weeks have been a bit rough. So glad it’s Friday and we can just sit back and enjoy our books for a day or two. Sorry we missed you guys last week, but there just wasn’t time to do any posts! Sick cat, sick staff at work, long weekend…. The excuses are endless. We’ll give a full update on Sunday, so check in then again.
But we are here today and can’t wait to start our weekend!
Let’s start with what book we are going to read over the next 72 hours. This is the third book in the Don Tillman trilogy and if you are looking for a fun, humorous series and love The Big Bang Theory, then this is the series for you!
The Rosie Result is the triumphant final installment of the internationally bestselling series that began with The Rosie Project.
Meet Don Tillman, the genetics professor with a scientific approach to everything. But he’s facing a set of human dilemmas tougher than the trickiest of equations.
Right now he is in professional hot water after a lecture goes viral; his wife of 4,380 days, Rosie, is about to lose the research job she loves; and – the most serious problem of all – their eleven-year-old son, Hudson, is struggling at school. He’s a smart kid, but socially awkward-not fitting in.
Fortunately, Don’s had a lifetime’s experience of not fitting in. And he’s going to share the solutions with Hudson. He’ll need the help of old friends and new, lock horns with the education system, and face some big questions about himself. As well as opening the world’s best cocktail bar.
Big-hearted, hilarious and exuberantly life-affirming, The Rosie Result is a story of overcoming life’s obstacles with a little love and a lot of overthinking. Goodreads
For our first stop, we will pay a visit to Gilion over at Rose City Reader to share our Book Beginnings. Every Friday you can link up and share the first sentence of your current read (or the one you plan to devour over the weekend), as well as your initial thoughts and impressions. Hashtags are the one thing I do know on social media, so simply #bookbeginnings so we can find each other.
The Friday 56
Next we will pay a visit to Freda over at Freda’s voice who hosts the Friday 56. Don’t show up empty handed though!
- Grab a book (Yes, any book. But it might get you to your other Friday activities a bit quicker if you just grab the book you are currently reading)
- Turn to page 56 or 56% on your e-reader
- Find a sentence or two (your other Friday activities might determine this)
- Post it!
- Remember to post your link on Freda’s Voice and to visit the other guys in the linky.
- And last but not least, don’t forget to list the title of the book and the author as well.
Book Blogger Hop
The Book Blogger’s hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog. Every week, there will be a prompt featuring a book related question. It’s hosted by Ramblings of a coffee addicted writer and he guess he hops around like a bunny due to all the caffeine. Hence his name.
Once again, welcome to South Africa! Where the animals are big, the crime is big, plenty of the people are big, but libraries – they are not big. Here and there you will find a small town library that will blow your mind, but seeing that most libraries form part of local municipalities, it’s mostly miss-managed and grossly neglected. The few libraries that are privately run, are worth the visit though.
