All you have to do is share any new words (or new to you), you came across during the month and add your name to the linky provided at the end of the post. You can make a link-up post, or just add your new word to our comment section. English is not our first language, so there are plenty of new to us words out there, which might be more common to some of your!

Can you believe it’s the second to last WWW for this year? Definitely time for Christmas and holidays. Let the fun and laughter begin! That’s why we chose our Wondrous Word for today:
Daddy calls mid-November to mid-January the silly season and I think that is very apt. People tend to be silly and sometimes downright stupid, but that’s not what we will be discussing today. We are just talking about laughing and giggling and having fun with friends and family.
I do love the Cambridge definition as well: To laugh, showing pleasure and satisfaction
To be quite honest, this word should suit my Mommy very well. How did it slip us by for all this time? Best part of all, I can’t even remember where we saw it now. Next year, we are going to be so much better prepared for all our posts. Watch this space.
If you are looking for a book or two that will result in a chortle over this holiday season, here’s our favorite 4:
Yes, I know there are hundreds of fun Christmas reads out there, these are just the first 4 we could think of and have read. If you don’t feel like sharing a Wondrous Word with us, please share a fun-filled Christmas book with us!
Have a wonderful Wednesday!
I love the word chortle! And all of the books you have featured promise to make me do so.. I do have to read Terry Pratchett soon so maybe will pick that one first.
Hi Vidya!
Chortle is a new word to me, but I can see myself use it way more from now on. I’ve read Hogfather last Christmas and it was quite a fun read yes! But that is if you like Terry Pratchett. I know he’s not for everyone .
Thanks for taking part in WWW! Have a wonderful week ahead.
I love the word Chortle. I always think of a man when I hear the word, but It does work for a man or a woman.
Hi Wendy!
It does have a masculine sound to it, doesn’t it? I’ve just spot the word in a book I’ve read this weekend, so I guess it is still alive and active.
Have a good week ahead Wendy!
“Chortle” is one of those words that I would have challenged in a Scrabble game when I was young. Yes, it sounds suspiciously like a word, but it also sounds oddly fake. And have I ever heard someone use it in a real conversation? lol
I’m eager to read some books that make me chortle in December! No more serious stories!
Hi Debbie!
If someone built that word in a scrabble game, I would have grabbed the dictionary immediately for sure.
Strangely enough, I’ve read the word in a book I’m currently reading just yesterday! LOL!!!
I have about 8 books still outstanding for review for the year. I want to get them done over the holidays and then next year I’m going to be a Debbie. That’s my mission!
