Greetings you all! It’s Wednesday and time for our favorite bi-weekly meme, Wondrous Words Wednesday. It’s two days before the end of term, so this will be a quick post. Mommy is still busy with rapport cards and assessments that need to go out by Friday.
Wondrous Words Wednesday was first created by Kathy over at Bermuda Onion Blog and is now proudly hosted by yours truly.
Wondrous Words Wednesday is a weekly meme where you can share new words that you’ve encountered, or spotlight words you love. Feel free to get creative!
No rules apply here, just share any or all the lovely or new words you’ve encountered over the last fortnight.
Tips and ideas:
- Don’t go pull the Dictionary down from the shelf. Use words you came across in a book, a TV show, Google, a pamphlet, social media, doctor’s room, classroom – the possibilities are endless
- If you want to share a story around your chosen word, you are welcome
- If you want to link your chosen word up with a book or books, please do so
- You are welcome to share photos or pictures that will describe your word just a bit better (who doesn’t love Pictionary)
- Let’s stick to words that are recognized in the English Dictionary. You are welcome to use translations of your chosen word or a brief history if it derives from a different language, but your readers need to be able to find it in the English Dictionary
- Please add your link to Mr Linky and pay a visit to the other word wizards
You are welcome to use our graphic or design your own!
Like I’ve said, Mommy is busy with the last do-alls for end of term. Those teachers around here will understand exactly what she means with that. And they will also understand our chosen word for today:
-
3.expel (gas or steam) from or into a particular place.“you should never exhaust bathroom air into your attic”
-
waste gases or air expelled from an engine, turbine, or other machine in the course of its operation.“buses spewing out black clouds of exhaust”
Sorry your mom is exhausted. Education is rough. I taught second grade and boy was that something!Hope this week lead to at least one book, maybe a relaxing one.
Cats do seem to represent exhaustion, but really, they are just saving energy!
Humans could learn a heck of a lot from cats.
That is very true! We can learn so much form felines. I'm going to follow Elza's daily routine this holidays Sound like the perfect plan to me!
Please read my post
Beautiful blog
Thank you Rajani! I appreciate the compliment. I've visited your blog and your writing is beautiful.
I am with you with being exhausted! Good luck making it through the 2 sleeps and then I hope lots of rests and kitty snuggling are in your future!
Hi Katherine! It's a wonderful feeling to know it's holidays. I didn't do much on Saturday, but today I started sorting out books and stuff for our re-decorating and renovations coming up. Exciting times!
Cute kitten photo to go with exhaust. 🙂
Aah thank you! It also brought a smile to my face.

Hi Sandee! Ooooe I like that one for sure! I might use it for a full Wondrous Words Wednesday! Thanks for playing with.
Hope you had a wonderful day!
Hahahaha. Those pics were just about awesome! But I hear you on the exhaustion, pandemic fatigue is a very real thing. *hugs*
Hi Lex! Love that term, pandemic fatigue. And yes, it is very real! Good news is that the next roll out for vaccines here in SA will be for teachers and I've registered today. So yea to that!
Thanks for all your love and care….
I have to tell a little story about educators and the cluelessness of people who aren't in that world. My brother-in-law is a dentist who works four days a week. He was on school board in our town for many years, making decisions that affected teachers' lives deeply. But he really knew nothing about teachers until his daughter moved in after she completed college and became a teacher at a school in our town. He told me, "Beth is working sixty, seventy hours a week." I replied, "Yes? And?" He said, "Well, she's exhausted and this has to stop." I told him, "We all work sixty, seventy hours a week. And we are all exhausted. It can't stop. It's what we have to do get our work done."
I really don't think he ever believed me that this is what all teachers do, what we have to do to get our work done. He still thinks it was just his daughter.
Hi dear Debbie, oh your story does sound very familiar. I've known my husband for 13 years and have been teaching for 12 of those years. He still thinks I'm off to a playdate when I go to school. People who are not in education, have no idea how many hours we put it. We don't have lunchbreaks and most tea breaks are used to do some schoolwork that hasn't been completed yet.
Some good news! The vaccine is being rolled out for teachers as from next week and I've registered today. So yea to that!!
Thanks for taking part in WWW!
