Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon April 2021

Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon April 2021

Wasn’t the passed weekend just the most fun ever? Who else took part in the Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon? Yes, yes – I know we sound a bit like a baby who got candy for the first time, but this was just so fabulous! It was our first 24 hour readathon and also our first time playing Bingo. I do believe we might be addicted now and my Mommy is just looking for more challenges build around a Bingo board. Thankfully she needs to be back at school on Wednesday and the latest obsession will hopefully also pass. As promised, here is our final Bingo board and the books we’ve read: Blue Squares: Read a book that’s won an award, Read a book recommended or gifted to you.     Yes, we did go for the Afrikaans options here! Afrikaans is our home language and of course we will read books in Afrikaans faster than in English. Ek Wens, Ek Wens deur Zirk van den Berg won the kykNET Rapport prize for best book in 2020 here in South Africa and this little, magical books deserves it. It’s not available in English, I do hope I can say yet. Here’s a small blurp […]

The Sunday Post #34

Greetings all you wonderful humans! My Mommy’s holiday is coming to an end today and tomorrow she will be back at school. Can’t believe 3 weeks went by so fast. She had all these plans at home and for the blog and in the end: Yes, I know, I know. I think maybe she spends too much time with me and she is slowly turning into a cat. Sleep al day, demand to be fed, only cuddle when she feels like it, don’t see anything through or stick to the rules, but still manages to be adorable and highly likeable.  We are not going to stick to the normal template for The Sunday Post today. We need to do an update on our various reading challenges for this year and if we don’t do it today, it might not happen until Christmas.  According to Goodreads, we are at least on track with our 2021 Reading Challenges. Let’s see what the progress is with the different challenges: Africa 1. Egypt – The Book of Two Ways by Jodi Picoult 2. South Africa (Province – Free State. Town – Senekal) – Kanaän deur Sophia Kapp 3. South Africa (Province – Free State) – Droomvanger deur […]

Reading Challenges 2021

Oh woe is me, oh how dreadful this will be. Yes, yes – I am being a bit over dramatic here. But please just put yourself in my paws for a minute or two. Just a couple of hours ago, I told you how grateful I am that my Mommy managed to finished her Alphabet Reading Challenge 2020. She got distracted by no less than 25 book of the planned 54 to make up a grand total of 79 books.  Apparently she now thinks she’s the queen of all Reading Challenges and decided to sign up for 4 (four) ????, Reading Challenges and aim to read 80 (eighty) 10 x ????????, books in 2021. Good Grief Woman. You do know that you still have to work, feed all of us, uphold your social calendar and pay attention to Daddy?? Maybe I should rather just give her the benefit of the doubt. She has proven to be able to complete a task at hand, even though it might be in some unconventional ways. So let’s see what she’s planning.  (You are all of course aware that if these challenges do materialize successfully, I will take all the credit. If not, it’s all […]
