Ten More Books that brought a smile to my face

Ten More Books that brought a smile to my face

Greetings you guys! It’s Tuesday and time for Top Ten Tuesday. Today is freebie time and I am so glad about that. A couple of weeks ago, the theme was Ten books that brought a smile to my face. My Mommy had her post basically done, but never got to post it. It is a theme that compliments one of our previous TTT posts – Ten Books that make me smile, purrfectly. More than a year has passed since we did that post, but it’s still not the easiest time for smiles around the world. So while we are doing all our homework for the blog migration, we can at least still entertain you today. Even if you have to wear your mask THE.WHOLE.DAY, it does help to smile behind it. And to read some books that make you smile! This was our list last year:  Good Omens by Terry Prachett and Neil Gaiman Why? Aziraphale (angel with some bad) and Crowley (demon with some good) Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery  Why?  Anne with an ‘e’ (you just smiled, didn’t you?) Right ho, Jeeves by P.G. Wodehouse Why? Right ho, Jeeves! Yes, Sir. Me before you by Jojo Moyes Why? Louisa Clark. Bumble-bee tights. Rachel’s Holiday by Marian Keyes Why?  That’s […]

The Sunday Post #50

The Sunday Post #50

Hi there you guys! Just a quick message from us today. We are on holidays and couldn’t be happier about it. After a long and strenuous term, you would think my Mommy wants to do nothing but sleep and read all day. Apparently, she is done with that already. She only finished one book from Thursday, but she did sleep quite a lot. I did not. The sun is out and spring appears to finally be here! So I played outside and chased a few blooming flowers, pestering grasshoppers and squealing birds. My mommy does have a list of things she wants to do this holiday: Also play in the garden and chase flowers, grasshoppers and birds Paint the ceilings (Daddy will have to fix the mess. I bet you) Revamp the main bathroom (contractors will do that) Diamond Painting and listen to stacks of audiobooks Start with Christmas planning (don’t look at me like that. She’s a teacher, she needs to do it now) Migrate from Blogger to a different climate If you know my Mommy at all, you would have seen this coming. Remember somewhere in July when Blogger had that huge update and all her pretty graphics […]

Striped & Strangled (Knitty Kitty Mystery #4) by Tracey Drew

Striped & Strangled (Knitty Kitty Mystery #4) by Tracey Drew

Striped and Strangled by Tracey Drew Series: Knitty Kitty Mystery #4 on August 5th 2021 Genres: Cozy Mystery Pages: 214 Format: eBook Source: My Kindle Buy on Amazon Goodreads When our town’s resident fortune-teller fails to predict her own demise, courtesy of a dog leash wrapped around her throat, I once again find myself in a pickle. I mean, what’s a girl to do when her crush becomes the prime suspect? Don my sleuthing cap and rally my Knitty Kitties to solve the mystery, of course! However, more and more suspects keep popping up like poisonous toadstools. And, spoiler: one of them seems determined to keep me from asking questions…permanently. Tessa Wakefield has her hands full juggling a cozy craft store, her crazy family, and two men who’d rather poke out their eyes than describe themselves as cute. Which they totally are. Cute, charismatic, and occasionally on her mind when she’s not stumbling over dead bodies and using her newfound sleuthing skills to track down murderers. Lucky she’s an excellent multi-tasker because digging beneath Cape Discovery’s surface can unearth secrets that kill. Content:  Age appropriate: from young adult +. Language: as clean as a kitty that just washed itself. Graphic content: Kit is […]

The Sunday Post #49

The Sunday Post #49

Greetings you guys. Today has been the first day of sunshine this week. It’s been a dark and miserable week and my Mommy has a bit of dark cloud overhead.  We are sure by now just about all of you from across the globe has heard of the tragic events in New Zealand on Thursday. This is such a tragedy. My Mommy actually knows this poor Momma and her husband as they have a mutual friend and also shared the same fertility doctor in  Pretoria, SA. It’s just terrible and we are at a loss of words. Nobody knows what really happened here, let’s just continue to pray for this Mother and Father and hold them in our thoughts. Adding to the Litter We didn’t go overboard again this week. My Mommy went to buy some new books for the kids at school and this one she brought home. She says she wants to read it first! Have any of you read a book on Pigeonhole.com before? My Mommy has done it years ago and then somehow it got lost in between all the apps on her phone. After a recent update, there it was again and lo and behold, her account […]

Friday Fives #8 – Five essentials for your Cozy Murder Mystery Kit

Friday Fives #8 – Five essentials for your Cozy Murder Mystery Kit

Greetings! It’s Friday and this week has been cold and miserable all the way through. Time to have some fun and Friday Fives is the ideal opportunity. Connect Five is hosted by The Book Date and the idea is to connect 5 books in some or other fun way. Theme, covers, authors, genres – you name in. For today, we will tweak the idea a bit and instead of linking five books, we are going to show you how you can build your very own Cozy Murder Mystery kit with 5 essentials. If you can combine these five elements and have a good murder in mind, you can write the next best seller! 1. A small town / Seaside Town / The Countryside The ideal setting for a Cozy Murder Mystery, is key. Everybody has to know each other. Your amateur sleuth, who will of course be the crime solver extraordinaire and the main character for the rest of your series, is also not allowed to be a complete stranger. She has to be a long lost relative, or the beneficiary of a forgotten will at least.   2. An Inheritance   Your sleuth has to end up in Little Town for […]

We just hope that we still do Kathy over at Bermuda Onion Blog proud with her original meme. For more information on Wondrous Words Wednesday, you can click here. She did it with Numbers – 10 Agatha Christie books with numbers in the title

She did it with Numbers – 10 Agatha Christie books with numbers in the title

Greetings you guys! It’s still cold and raining outside and the perfect weather to snuggle with a good murder mystery. What can be better than an Agatha Christie one? That’s why we’ve decided to combine today’s Top Ten Tuesday with a list of Agatha Christie novels. Today’s theme for TTT is Ten Books with Numbers in the title and it was quite easy to go through our Agatha Christie bibliography and list 10 titles with numbers. Towards Zero – We actually don’t know the Superintendent Battle series at all, but we will still get to it. An elderly widow is murdered at a clifftop seaside house…What is the connection between a failed suicide attempt, a wrongful accusation of theft against a schoolgirl, and the romantic life of a famous tennis player? To the casual observer, apparently nothing. But when a houseparty gathers at Gull’s Point, the seaside home of an elderly widow, earlier events come to a dramatic head. It’s all part of a carefully paid plan – for murder…   One, Two, Buckle my Shoe – We don’t like dentists either. What reason would an amiable dentist like Dr. Morely have for committing suicide? He didn’t have emotional difficulties, money problems, or […]

Library Card September 2021 & Weekend Book Friends #21

Library Card September 2021 & Weekend Book Friends #21

Greetings you guys! It’s the weekend and time for some well deserved reading. The passed two weeks have been a bit crazy with not a lot of reading done. It’s gorgeous weather out there, spring sure is in the air. So maybe, just maybe we will even sit in the sun reading. Whoo hoo! Excitement is in the air. But before we can get reading, we first have to fill our library card for the month. Our August Library Card wasn’t too bad and even though we behave like real typical felines and don’t commit to anything, it helps a lot to fill our monthly Library Card.  We will treat our September Library Card, the same way we treat the weather this time of year. Dress for spring, but bring a jersey or a sweater. Carry Overs                  Book Club Picks                  Kindle          White Oleander is also a Kindle read, but I suspect it’s going to be a carry over for some time to come. Beautifully written and I think it needs to be savoured. We’ve read the first one in the Isle of Man Cozy series last year and we […]

Throwback Thursday # 9 – The Benefits of Death

Throwback Thursday # 9 – The Benefits of Death

Greetings Humans! It’s a beautiful, sun shining day here in South Africa and we are looking forward to a weekend filled with sunshine and springy vibes. But before we can have weekend, we first need to get through Thursday. Not better way than with a Throwback Thursday post! The Chocolate Lady’s #Throwback Thursday takes place on the Thursday before the first Saturday of every month. Yes, there is a linky and it will remain open until she uploads the new one. Thank Goodness. My first and last sometimes gets very confused.  Your post must highlight one of your previously published book reviews and Davida encourages other participants to do the same.  Add the link to your post and remember to link back to The Chocolate Lady’s Book Blog And do not forget to #ThrowbackThursday!   We tend to not always play by the rules, but we do try our best to at least be part of the game. Our Throwback Thursday book for today, was my Mommy’s very first Netgalley review book. This book was read and reviewed on her previous blog and she thought she was the cat’s whiskers for getting book from Netgalley. We still feel like we are the […]

Monday Bloopers #3 – The Handmaid’s Tale

Monday Bloopers #3 – The Handmaid’s Tale

Greetings Humans! Welcome back to our own version of Monday Bloopers . We got the idea for Monday Bloopers from Melissa’s Mochas, Mysteries and Meows. You should really go and visit her, she has the most gorgeous feline blog ever! We have been trying to do a few more feline posts and I am working very hard on perfecting my typing skills so that I can just start hijacking my Mommy’s computer and do my own posts. Melissa hosts a fun monthly meme called Pet Photo Fail Blog Hop. I guess the idea is to post a photo that didn’t work as well as the shooter anticipated it would. *Camera shooter. No pets are harmed in this exercise.    Now seeing that there are only fur babies in this house, my Mommy’s photo inbox is cluttered with photos of all of us. Mainly of me of course. It’s quite the challenge to go through them all to find a photo blooper of me. No matter from what angle you observe me, it’s very close to perfection. But I guess if we have to use one, this one will have to do the trick this month:   I have no idea what happened […]
