The Sunday Post #21

Greetings Human! Amazingly enough, I am not posting from cat-jail. The perpetrator in custody on our Post Header photo, is not me! I am very proud to inform you that our Christmas tree is still standing and no ornaments have been harmed as this post is published.  How was your last fortnight? Ours were hectically busy, but it was mostly good as well. School closed officially on the 2nd of December, but all the teachers were still working until last Saturday. Hence our absence on the blogosphere. If only Mommy wants to start leaving her laptop here, I can type and post away. Alas.  Mommy’s been working from home this week and will finish with all online classes as well on Tuesday. It’s been wonderful to have her at home and we’ve spend the whole weekend cuddling on the couch. I think she was still recovering from her Birthday celebrations on Wednesday. With lockdown regulations, she wasn’t allowed to have her big, Hitchhikers’ Guide to the Galaxy party, but she did get together with a couple of friends for the day and they spend it making Christmas wreaths and other Christmas goodies. And drinking Champagne. On Wednesday night, they had […]

Weekend Book Friends #13

Weekend Book Friends #13

Not only is it Friday, but it’s also holidays! Jippie Yea!!!! We haven’t done a Weekend Book Friends post in months. Where did the year go by? Christmas is 2 weeks away and it’s time to start to relax and unwind. We definitely do have the Christmas spirit already and stacks of books to get through before the end of the year. So what are we starting with this weekend?   Daisy Jones & The Six   For a while, Daisy Jones & The Six were everywhere. Their albums were on every turntable, they sold out arenas from coast to coast, their sound defined an era. And then, on 12 July 1979, they split.   Nobody ever knew why. Until now.   They were lovers and friends and brothers and rivals. They couldn’t believe their luck, until it ran out. This is their story of the early days and the wild nights, but everyone remembers the truth differently.   The only thing they all know for sure is that from the moment Daisy Jones walked barefoot onstage at the Whisky, their lives were irrevocably changed.   Making music is never just about the music. And sometimes it can be hard […]

December Countdown: One prompt per day (day 9 – 10)

We simply just don’t get to doing this on a daily basis! Yesterday was my Mommy’s birthday and it was a day of fun and games all the way to midnight. She’s 42 now and hopefully we will learn the meaning of life and everything else in the next year. Wondrous Words (numbers) Wednesday – 42 My mommy needs a bit of recovering today after a late night, so we are just going to share our day 9 and 10 prompts for the December Countdown hosted by Lynn’s Book Blog and then we are moving to the couch for some reading and napping.  Snow – a book set in a cold or wintry climate Shopping – the last book added to your wishlist Wrapping paper – a lovely cover Presents – a book you enjoyed more than you expected to Chocolates – a book that was simply delicious Christmas stocking – stocking fillers – a novella or short story Christmas Tree –  traditional style, winter read Baubles – these add some colour, a very colourful and striking cover Fairy Lights – a book of the fae Under the Tree – a book you forgot you owned Fairy Lights – a book of the […]

Wondrous Words (numbers) Wednesday – 42

Wondrous Words (numbers) Wednesday – 42

Today is a wondrous day! It’s my Mommy’s Birthday! Hooray hooray! Yes, you’ve guessed it, she is 42 today. That age where she now should know the meaning of life and everything else. And then 2020 happened. Just to show us that we will never, ever have everything figured out. Mommy was planning on having A Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy party for her 42nd birthday where she would have loved to hand out towels as party gifts. Alas. 2020. But we can still reflect on the number 42 and if there really are any significance to it. Or even better, is it truly the answer to life and everything else? In Douglas Adams’ sci-fi series “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy,” a pair of programmers task the galaxy’s largest supercomputer with answering the ultimate question of the meaning of life, the universe and everything. After 7.5 million years of processing, the computer reaches an answer: 42. Only then do the programmers realize that nobody knew the question the program was meant to answer. Mommy just loved that! But do you know that two very, very clever mathematicians did solve this riddle in 2019?   There is no use in […]

December Countdown: One prompt per day (day 1 – 4)

Greetings! It’s Monday and let’s see if this week can be any better than last week. Mommy is basically on holiday, so there should be a bit more time for blogging and reading and spending lots of cuddle time!  Don’t you just love this great idea hosted by Lynne @ Lynn’s Book Blog?  For the month of December I’m scheduled a quick post, early each day, that simply highlights a book based on a prompt, a countdown, if you will to 2021.  Below is a list of the prompts I will be using, one for each day.  This is a fun way to highlight some books for the month of December and, given the time of year, some of the prompts are Christmas inspired.  Feel free to join in.  Note: I don’t want to over burden people and fill up readers  I simply wanted to use the final month of the year to shine the spotlight on some books (all the books highlighted will be linked to Goodreads for information purposes). I know that we can definitely do with a countdown to New Year. We are soo going to do this! Although we are already a week late… Never too late […]

Throwback Thursday #4 – When God was a Rabbit

Throwback Thursday #4 – When God was a Rabbit

Gosh I love this time of year! I know it’s only the second time that I experience the Christmas Season, but I can already tell you, it’s the bestest. Don’t you just feel like throwing tinsel and glitter over everything? I can promise you, for the next month, all my Mommy’s header photos will have a Christmas theme. And me of course. It’s Thursday already and the first time my Mommy opens her blog this whole week. Don’t get too excited, we most probably won’t get to it again before next week. Mommy is busy busy. I try my utmost best to give her an attitude, but even I get ignored. But she says she misses you all and we can quickly do a Throwback Thursday. Yea! I’m curled up behind her laptop and she’s typing away. There are so many spins on the idea of Throwback Thursday, but we still like Davida’s idea the most: The Chocolate Lady’s #Throwback Thursday takes place on the Thursday before the first Saturday of every month. Yes, there is a linky and it will remain open until she uploads the new one. Thank Goodness. My first and last sometimes gets very confused.  Your post must […]

The Sunday Post #20

Greetings you all! As you can see, our tree is up and it’s time to get jolly and and just say tra la la la la la la to everything that upsets you. Don’t you think I am the most beautiful Christmas decoration of them all? How was your week? Our week was long and tedious. Mommy was in more than just a bit of a mood for most of the week, but she game home on Friday all smiles and determined to put the Christmas Tree up. We spend the whole day yesterday and I think it looks lovely! Perfect jungle gym for a 13 month old kitten. Let’s talk books. I want to go and sit underneath the tree and see where I can start climbing and throw some (most) of those sparkly thingies off.  Adding to the Litter Actually, I don’t really want to talk about all the new books. I had my Mommy down for a good talk to about her TBR shelf that surpassed the maximum amount of 500 books. You can read more about that in our Friday Fives post that will be added below. Friday was Black Friday and the only shop she […]

The day I killed God by Nick Totem

Title: The day I killed God Author: Nick Totem Published: 01 October 2020 (LucenGeist Literary Press) Pages: 169 (Kindle Edition) Source: Prism Book Tours review copy Read: 23 November 2020 Rating:  Genre: Science Fiction / Thriller Content: Adult market advised. Explicit violence. Swearing and sexual content Synopsis: Is it possible to kill God? Even to a psychic like me, the thought hadn’t crossed my mind until the day I went searching for Elliot Spinoza. He was my friend and a mathematician, and he went missing. The FBI wanted him, but so did a couple of billionaires. It had something to do with one of his equations and its secrets. The FBI told me the world was at risk. Now, it was up to me to find my friend and keep the equation safe. In the end, what I found was far more devastating. And I was going to kill anyone to do so, including God. Let’s get the one star rating, white elephant, out of the room as we start. There were so many things I looked forward to with this book. The title is thought-catchy, the cover is eye-catchy, the synopsis is intrigue-catchy. What can possibly go wrong?  Seeing […]

Friday Fives #2 – 5 Books we urgently need to read to make space on the TBR shelf

Friday Fives #2 – 5 Books we urgently need to read to make space on the TBR shelf

Greetings humans! It’s Friday afternoon and my Mommy still want to stop by the Book Shop before she goes home. I am not impressed with that at all. Her TBR has lost control again over the last couple of weeks. She really shouldn’t be adding more books to it AT ALL. She reached the 500 books-allowed-on -the-TBR-shelf deadline earlier this week. So today’s Friday Fives will be about: Five books my Mommy need to read urgently to make space on the TBR shelf.  She will thus link up with  Connect Five hosted by the BookDate. Connect Five is really very easy, just pick 5 books that are connected in some or other way. Theme, cover, genre, author – you name it. The following five books are on my Mommy’s book shelve, not even on the Kindle where books sometimes do get “lost”, physically. Right there. Just take it off the shelf and start reading! Fantastic Mr. Fox by Roald Dahl – Number 431. It’s only going to take her about an hour or two to read it and it can go towards her Alphabet Challenge for this year. Fantastic Mr. Fox is on the run! The three meanest farmers around are out to get […]
