The Sunday Post #32

Posted March 14, 2021 by elzaread in The Sunday Post, The Sunday Salon / 51 Comments

Greetings Humans! Just a quick note to say that we haven’t drifted into outer space or descended into to darkest depths of the earth. Yes, I know we had just about no online presence this past week and I can just imagine how horrible that must have been for you. We haven’t even answered so many of our comments from two weeks passed… Will get to it today!

School is crazily busy and my Mommy’s one teacher is still off with a back injury. Luckily, we are quickly approaching end of term and this upcoming week will already be a bit better. As from next weekend, she is all mine, all yours and all new building project coming up. I should still consult with King Solomon on how we are going to divide her, but I’m quite sure we will all get an equal share.

Just to provide you with some comfort, here’s a lovely collage of yours truly taken over the passed couple of weeks.

And just like that you feel better already. Right?
We’ve received one request for review this week and my Mommy still thinks it’s wonderful if she gets a message through the contact form on the blog. You know what they say about small things and small minds, but I am happy for her. Waterborne by J.Luke Bennecke BookBub had a daily deal on a book that my Mommy’s been eyeing for some time, so that was a happy dance too. At the Water’s Edge by Sara Gruen
We’ve only managed one post this week and that was late Friday afternoon. The second installment in The Destiny Falls Mystery & Magic series will be available tomorrow and we promised Elizabeth that we will have our review done and dusted. Our review links to the cover if you might have missed it. You probably did.
So glad that Elizabeth liked our review!

“Hi Mareli & Elza

You guys write the BEST reviews ever! It made me want to read my own book LOL.”

Not much TV this week. Mommy mostly got into bed with a book after her workday was done. I love those early nights. So much more time for cuddles. Mommy is still busy with When God was a Rabbit by Sarah Winman. It’s lovely, but you need to read it in short doses. Tell No One by Harlan Coben is brilliant and I think that’s what we’ll do for the rest of the day. We also started with our first audio book in months yesterday. Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough. I’ve seen the Netflix adaptation doing the rounds, but let’s first finish the book before we’ll watch it.

Social Media was flooded with the Harry/Meghan Soap Oprah this week and my Mommy grew tired of it all quite quickly. I don’t really care much and could only think how much lovelier Meghan’s black dress would have looked after I took a nap on her lap. It seems as if she needs a fluffy white kitten to cuddle a bit. Luckily the birds took care of her dress.

We wish you all a lovely week and no matter how busy my Mommy are with rapport cards and assessments, we will have a Wondrous Words Wednesday ready for you.
Remember to thank our lovely hosts for The Sunday Posts, Readerbuzz and Caffeinated Book Reviewer and pay a visit to your fellow bloggers. You never know who might also need a fluffy white kitten or just a quick ‘hello’.

Lots of Love,

  1. What a wonderful sight to wake up to this morning. I love the all the kitty photos. Eliza is so adorable.

I hope you are finding some rest time in between all the busy work related stuff. I know how hard it can be though.

    Have a great week!

    • Hi there! Glad Elza's photos could bring so much joy!

The week was tough, but it's weekend and holidays now and rest will follow!

  2. Love Elza's pictures! She truly looks royal. ๐Ÿ™‚

Great to hear that the end of term is coming – it will be great to get a break! We, on the other hand, prefer school to just go on and on, LOL!

    • Hi Athira! Yes, Elza is a real queen and she behaves like one most of the time too.

I know, some of our students would also love to just let school go on and on. I had them take a vote earlier this week to ask if they would like to have the school day to be longer. And they voted yes!! Good grief!

But the teachers really do need a break and I am looking forward to spending more time on the blog!

  3. Elza's pictures made my day. What a pretty ladylike cat! Sounds like a crazy week but hopefully it will start calming down. I'm pretty done with the whole Meghan/Harry drama too but the comment about my dress had me dying laughing! Hope you have a great week.

    • Hi Katherine! Always glad if we can cheer you up! This week was hectic, but the weekend was very quiet. I've mostly slept so far..!

  4. Harlan Coben is always a thrilling, fast read!

I really enjoyed Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen but I haven't read any of her other books even though I keep saying I will. There's just never enough time!

The lovely kitty pictures made me smile! There's a beautiful calico kitty nearby that I see sometimes out on her porch when I'm out for a walk. She makes me smile too. The cat I had in high school/college was a calico so they have a special place in my heart.

Enjoy your week! Good luck finishing up the term!

    • Hi Jen! I also have only read Water for Elephants, but I am looking forward to At the Water's Edge.

So glad to hear the kitty pictures cheered you up! Elza cheer me up everyday. I've never had a calico kitty. Maybe one day one will cross my path.

The term is finally finished and I do hope that I will have more time to spend on the blog.

  5. Oh goodness, that quote about Meghan's dress is so spot on! Haha, for a minute I wondered if my eyes were playing tricks on me. When God was a Rabbit is an awesome book title, but I am generally wary of family sagas, and as you said, only in small doses.

I am having a bit of a reading/ watching/ blogging slump too. It's very difficult to just show up sometimes. Sigh! March has been tough, yes? But the cat pictures helped indeed, thanks a lot. ๐Ÿ™‚

    ~ Lex

    • Hi there Lex! I had the funniest Instagram post on Megan's dress, but I have no idea how to upload on the blog from Instagram. But yea, I love it. Basically how I feel about the whole interview.

March has been very tough yes. But we still have a week left and I hope to settle down a bit and spend some more time on the blog.

Glad the cat photos helped! You should see the power of the little ball of fluff in real life. Magical!

    • Hi Tanya! Oh you should read Water for Elephants! It's one of the most beautiful books ever. I've also heard good things about At the Water's Edge, so I hope it will live up to its reputation.

    • Hi there Alice! I will make a note of this and let some of the authors that request review copies, know about this site!

      Thanks for sharing it!

  6. I was away for some time too but ooooooh, Elza, you are so lovely ! The bird/dress comment made me laugh, thanks ! Enjoy your week and Mareli, take care ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Aaah too quick fingers here. I hope that we will have more time for the blog over the next couple of weeks and even try to pre-schedule a couple of posts for the new term.

  7. Oh Elza, you sure are one beauty! We just discovered you and we're so glad for it! What a beautiful sight for an early Monday morning. Have a great week, my new friend.

  8. Aww cute pics Elza! You kitties really do like to ham it up for the cmaeras, don't you? My cats do as well ๐Ÿ™‚

Behind Her Eyes looks good, and ooh I remember Sara Gruen's books.

Hope you had a nice weekend with lots of treats!

    • HI Anne@ I've had my eye on At the Water's Edge for quite some time, so I am looking forward to it! Elza is the most adorable little thing ever. Unfortunately, she knows it too.

  9. Adorable kitty!!
One of these days, I'm going to watch the Oprah interview in full. I just need to get into the right mindset.

The Destiny Falls book looks like a fun read!

    • The Destiny Falls series really is a lot of fun! It won't disappoint. I don't know if I actually want to see the whole interview. Think I've had enough just from social media.

  10. Hope your life gets less busy as it can be stressful. Elza does look cute and I'm sure coming home to a cuddly kitty makes a lot of the pressure melt away. My kitties do that for me. Enjoy your week and happy reading! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Hi Rachel! Yes, my little Elza is my cuddle bunny. The big black cat is my comfort though. He loves to be picked up for just a quick hug. And then it's enough! But that's all I need after a long day at school. And the labbies of course just want to play and that also draws your attention away from work stress. Animals are the best!

  11. Glad to see you are getting back into blog visiting; it must mean you have a bit more time. Curling up withe a book in bed after work sounds blissful. I've been getting into my jammies after dinner, but with the time change here and lighter evenings, that might not be as appealing.

    • Hi Helen! I had a chat with my sister yesterday and she can't understand how I still read so much and I work the hours I do. She goes home and lie in front of the tv. I will spend only about 1 hour on tv time and I normally sit and blog in front of the tv then! Rest of the time is for reading.
But I am looking forward to the weekend where I can just curl up and read and hopefully listen to a few audio books again too!

  12. Love your kitty pics! & hope your busy times are winding down. As for Meghan & Harry … not sure I would've aired my dirty laundry in public. hmm. I have read the When God Was a Rabbit novel long ago … and I thought the 2nd half becomes disjointed & meandering … so it didn't hold me as much as the first half. A bit of an odd novel, I guess. But it seems her novel Tinman was a bit better. Enjoy your week.

    • I loved When God was a Rabbit, but it was a strange book. Same with A Year of Marvelous Ways. The writing is just so wonderful and poetic, so I keep on reading. But like I say – small doses.

  13. So nice to hear from you guys. Elza, you look beautiful in those pictures. I have Elizabeth Pantley's books to review too. They look wonderful. Hope you have a great week!

    • Hi Yvonne! I'm sure you are going to love the Elizabeth Pantley books and it can definitely go to your kitty challenges for the year. I will do an update of where I am during the holidays!

  14. I'm glad that you are able to play catch up. I found a fun meme on instagram that had to do with Harry/meghan debacle and the woman also happened to be an american black woman who married her british prince-not a real prince mind you, but a dialog coach. If i find it, I'll send it.

    • I guess it's a matter of great minds think a like here! I usually prefer to read the book before I watch the adaptations. I just wanted to start watching Little Women on Netflix, but then decided to first read the book again. Haven't read it since I was a girl. Many years ago…

  15. I'm glad you had enough time to post here this week. I'm sure it's crazy-busy with a teacher out. I don't know how I did it when my library assistant was out. I will never forget those days.

Elza is right. Cute cat pictures make us all feel better.

"It made me want to read my own book!" How fun. I love this comment from an author.

I hope things slow down for you a bit, Mareli. Have a good week.

    • Hi Debs this term was tough beyond measure. Believe it or not, but I am working without an assistant in the library too. I used to have Grade 7 students as monitors who could help me, but with all the Covid regulations at school, I am now alone. So yes, I am running the library, teaching, running the business and still trying to blog and keep Elza entertained too. Such fun! But seriously, it really isn't that bad at all. I just don't have enough time to get to everything!

Luckily that's what holidays are for.

Have a good week and take care of yourself.

  16. Lovely to hear from you Elza and Mareli! I know I have been struggling to keep up with my own blog at the moment too. I am also already tired of the Harry/Meghan Soap Oprah too and I think she definitely needs some kitty cuddles! Take care and happy reading/snuggle time in the coming week, from Jessica and Bonnie ?

    • I loved the meme that went around where Harry and Meghan sit in a pile of money complaining that life is so hard and Oprah sits on the other side also in a pile of money saying that she can relate. I mean really…..

I am looking forward to this week, school closes on Friday and then there will hopefully be more time for reading and blogging and just enjoying my house for a bit again.

Good luck with your week too!
