Top Ten Tuesday – One Meow Reviews

Posted May 3, 2022 by elzaread in Top Ten Tuesday / 63 Comments

Greetings you guys! Welcome to this week’s edition of Top Ten Tuesday. TTT is still hosted by the lovely Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl and today’s theme is one word reviews for the last 10 books read. My Mommy won’t be able to pull this off at all, she is too much of a chatterbox. But I can easily give just one meow for our 10 latest reads.

Have you read any of these? Do you agree with my meows?

    • Hi Vidya! Yea!! Very glad my books are inspiring you to read them. I did enjoy them all yes.

Songbirds is a beautiful read indeed. But it’s not an easy subject… The cover is gorgeous yes and a photo doesn’t do it justice at all.

  1. Pam @ Read! Bake! Create!

I love how you shared your thoughts on your last ten reads.

I’ve read 3 of the books you listed and have to agree with 2 of your thoughts. I did not enjoy The Maid as much as I had hoped.

    • Hi Rissi!

The Christie Affair is still a good book and it does receive some great ratings, it just didn’t work for me. And that’s okay!

Thanks for returning the favor, I hope you had a good weekend and good week to look forward to.

    • Never Tell a Lie is one of those books that reminds you why it’s necessary to also try to stick as closely to the truth as possible. I’ll have my review up somewhere this upcoming week.

So sorry for the late reply Alicia and I hope you had a good weekend!

    • Hi there Bree, Songbirds is a beautiful book, but it’s not an easy read. I agree with you on Fredrik Backman! I’ve also read a few now and also want to read all of them.

Thanks for visiting us and so sorry for the late reply!

  2. I love your words. I especially love learning Koeksister. It’s the perfect description for Rock Paper Scissors. 🙂 Hilarious is a great word for Anxious People too.

I’ve not read any of these, but I will admit I had to look up Koeksister! Having looked them up, they actually do look familiar from when I was in South Africa, but I guess I just didn’t remember the name!

    • Hi there Jo! When were you in South Africa? Koeksisters are a huge favorite here in SA. You will definitely find it any supermarket our local deli.

Thanks for visiting us and I hope you will enjoy the rest of your week!

  4. I have not read Anxious People yet but I want to. Here is my post-https://paigesofnovels.wordpress.com/2022/05/03/top-ten-tuesday-one-word-book-reviews-for-the-last-10-books-ive-read/

    • Hi Wendy!

I will have to do a post on koeksisters!! It’s a South African delicatessen of twisted dough deep fried in syrup. My husband’s favorite. Glad to hear you’ve enjoyed Anxious People. It really was a good read!

    • Hi there Anne!

Cluedo is just another version of the boardgame Clue and Koeksister is a twisted dough that gets deep fried in syrup. Any book that is very twisted, gets called a koeksister in this house (it’s also an Afrikaans word).

I think you did quite well with your challenge as well!

  5. Oh, I love your theme and graphics! Super cute 😍 I’m very curious that you’ve put ‘koeksister’ for Rock Paper Scissors. That one’s on my TBR and I’m now even more excited to read it! I also can’t wait to read Anxious People so I’m glad to hear it was hilarious. Great one-word reviews!
