Greetings you guys! Welcome to this week’s edition of Top Ten Tuesday. TTT is still hosted by the lovely Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl and today’s theme is one word reviews for the last 10 books read. My Mommy won’t be able to pull this off at all, she is too much of a chatterbox. But I can easily give just one meow for our 10 latest reads.
Have you read any of these? Do you agree with my meows?
One meow reviews for our 10 latest reads! Do you agree with these? #TopTenTuesday #bloggingfun Click To TweetHave a wonderful Tuesday!
Great words! I like that you incorporated some Afrikaans for us. You were (and hopefully still are) on a streak of mostly good books!
Hi Jen!
I haven’t actually had a good month no… but school is closing tomorrow and then it’s our winter holidays. I plan on spending it reading and reading and a bit more….
[…] of the words that we chose for our One Meow Reviews Top Ten Tuesday post, was Koeksister. We had so many comments and questions about this word, that we’ve […]
So sad about The Christie Affair. I was looking forward to reading that one. I really enjoyed Anxious People. We just started watching the screen version. You did a great job with the week’s topic!
The Christie Affair is still a good book, it just didn’t work for me. Maybe it will be different for you? Glad to hear you’ve enjoyed Anxious People. We haven’t watched the adaptation yet.
So sorry for the late reply and thanks for visiting us!
I need to read them all now (well, except for the last one) and after looking up Koeksister like Deb did, need to find some locally right now!! I think my first pick will be Songbirds (love that cover)
Hi Vidya! Yea!! Very glad my books are inspiring you to read them. I did enjoy them all yes.
Songbirds is a beautiful read indeed. But it’s not an easy subject… The cover is gorgeous yes and a photo doesn’t do it justice at all.
i love the post! haven’t read any of the books, but enjoyed your way of spotlighting them. happy reading
Thank you Sherry! Top Ten Tuesday is always a lot of fun for us!
I love how you shared your thoughts on your last ten reads.
I’ve read 3 of the books you listed and have to agree with 2 of your thoughts. I did not enjoy The Maid as much as I had hoped.
Thanks Pam and I’m glad if you can relate to some of my words.
Hope you are doing well!
It sounds like you enjoyed most of these! Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
I did enjoy them yes!
I read Kasper years ago and really enjoyed it but that’s the only one on this list I’ve read. Great words though!

Hi Zoe! Aaah Kaspar was the best! I am so glad that Michael Morpurgo’s books are so popular in our school library.
Sorry for the late reply!
I think I read about The Christie Affair prior to its release. Bummer it disappointed. But on the bright side, we love all the kittens on the graphics! 🙂 Thanks so much for visiting Finding Wonderland. Appreciate this.
Hi Rissi!
The Christie Affair is still a good book and it does receive some great ratings, it just didn’t work for me. And that’s okay!
Thanks for returning the favor, I hope you had a good weekend and good week to look forward to.
Interesting how you described Never Tell a Lie as truthful. Also, I am distracted by all these cute kitties!
Never Tell a Lie is one of those books that reminds you why it’s necessary to also try to stick as closely to the truth as possible. I’ll have my review up somewhere this upcoming week.
So sorry for the late reply Alicia and I hope you had a good weekend!
I love that you had time to incorporate the word plus the cover into its own unique artwork!

That’s all thanks to CANVA. Quick and easy and so much fun to make!
I haven’t read any of these books but I am intrigued that you used hilarious for Anxious People.
Hi Carole!
The characters in Anxious People were really hilarious for me, but the book as a whole was brilliant.
I have Songbirds on my TBR pile and I have to buy Anxious People! I’ve read a couple of other Fredrik Backman books and LOVED them and now I want to read everything he’s written.
Hi there Bree, Songbirds is a beautiful book, but it’s not an easy read. I agree with you on Fredrik Backman! I’ve also read a few now and also want to read all of them.
Thanks for visiting us and so sorry for the late reply!
Love the cats! And completely agree with your choice for Anxious People.
Thank you Louise!
Love all your adjectives! You chose some amazing ones. 🙂
Thank you so much! Had fun doing these!
I love your words. I especially love learning Koeksister. It’s the perfect description for Rock Paper Scissors. 🙂 Hilarious is a great word for Anxious People too.
Hi there Jenni! So glad you enjoy my Koeksister word. I think I must just make a whole post on koeksister books!
I hope you had a good week and are having a fun weekend!
Seeing a book described as majestic is very impressive!
Oh Elza does have a tendency to be dramatic and words like Majestic comes naturally for her.
I’ve not read any of these, but I will admit I had to look up Koeksister! Having looked them up, they actually do look familiar from when I was in South Africa, but I guess I just didn’t remember the name!
Hi there Jo! When were you in South Africa? Koeksisters are a huge favorite here in SA. You will definitely find it any supermarket our local deli.
Thanks for visiting us and I hope you will enjoy the rest of your week!
I love your visuals so much! And I must say I’m intrigued by the Cluedo review 🙂
Hi there Lindsey!
I loved Cragside! The house and the whole plot of the books reminded me so much of a Cluedo game!
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you will have a good week to come.
Oh yeah, definitely agree about Anxoous People!! Many great books on here! 😊
Thank you Leslie!
Anxious People sure are the winner today.
I have not read Anxious People yet but I want to. Here is my post-https://paigesofnovels.wordpress.com/2022/05/03/top-ten-tuesday-one-word-book-reviews-for-the-last-10-books-ive-read/
I’ve hardly heard of anyone who didn’t enjoy Anxious People! I hope you get to read it soon.
Thanks for stopping by!
I just started listening to Anxious People and I’m loving it so far. Great words. I had to look up Koeksister.
Hi Wendy!
I will have to do a post on koeksisters!! It’s a South African delicatessen of twisted dough deep fried in syrup. My husband’s favorite. Glad to hear you’ve enjoyed Anxious People. It really was a good read!
CLUEDO, KOEKSISTER. I don’t know these words? Will I have to read the books to find out? I thought this was a fun activity though I had a hard time limiting myself to just one word (and sort of failed at it a few times.) One Word Reviews
Hi there Anne!
Cluedo is just another version of the boardgame Clue and Koeksister is a twisted dough that gets deep fried in syrup. Any book that is very twisted, gets called a koeksister in this house (it’s also an Afrikaans word).
I think you did quite well with your challenge as well!
I love all your cat pictures with each book and description. So cute!
Thank you Deanna!
The Maid was a fun romp, and Anxious People was hilarious. Songbirds looks intriguing.
I had to look up “koeksister!”
I bet Elza did love the latest Michael Morpurgo book!
Hi Debs! I knew you would look koeksister up! LOL!! If I could, I would have send you a dozen or so. Delicious.
The Maid was a lovely read and Songbirds will stick with you for a long time.
Enjoy the rest of your week!
Well, now I’m adding koeksister to my list of Baking I Want to Try!
That’s a great idea! Think you will enjoy making them. I actually never have …. LOL!!
Oh, I love your theme and graphics! Super cute 😍 I’m very curious that you’ve put ‘koeksister’ for Rock Paper Scissors. That one’s on my TBR and I’m now even more excited to read it! I also can’t wait to read Anxious People so I’m glad to hear it was hilarious. Great one-word reviews!
A Koeksister is a twisted piece of dough deep fried in syrup. So any book that is very twisted, gets classified as a Koeksister! Rock Paper Scissors fits that bill perfectly.
Thanks for stopping by!!
Great list! Anxious People is one I really want to read.
Thank you! I haven’t heard of anyone who didn’t like Anxious people, so I do hope it will work for you as well.
It’s always a shame when a book is disappointing.
I think I might simply have had too high expectations!!
This is my favorite post so far this week. So beautifully done.
I’m intrigued by Songbirds and Rock Paper Scissors 🙂
Here is my TTT: https://herseriallife.com/one-word-reviews-last-ten-books-read/
Aaaah thank you Rae!! I appreciate it so much!!!
Great job from both of you!!
Thanks Marg! We need to thank Canva…!!
Its never fun when books are disappointing!! The rest sound good tho! Great words 🙂
Hi Brittany!
It was probably simply disappointing because I had too high expectations!
