Greetings you guys! It’s Tuesday and time for Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by Jana @ That Arsty Reader Girl. Today’s prompt is Books with (whatever) on the cover. Now this can be anything, as long as it’s the same thing on all your covers. That sounds easy enough! Seeing that my Mommy gave me free reign over today’s TTT, I first need to get something off my chest.
You know what really bugs me? I constantly bring my Mommy the nicest, cutest bugs that I catch just for her. And you know what she does? She squeals, or so throws them out. She never, ever keeps them. How can she do that? She loves books that has the little buggers on the covers, so why doesn’t she want them as presents from me too?
Here are 10 of my Mommy’s favorite books with bugs on the covers:
- The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle – Okay, I’ve never brought her a caterpillar. We have loads of centipedes here with us. Do they count?
- Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White – Spiders find their own way in. I don’t have to help them at all. We don’t tend to bother each other much.
- Lord of the Flies by William Golding – We didn’t like this book and we don’t like flies either.
- The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd – We’ve got a lovely garden and the bees think so too. I know to leave them alone, the dogs don’t. Stupid dogs.
- The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka – Now those are the kind of bugs I like to catch.
- The Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris – Moths! My favorite. Next to butterflies that is.
- The Butterfly Garden by Dot Hutchinson – Told you they are my favorite.
- Miss Benson’s Beetle by Rachelle Joyce – I love little bugs. But if ever I spot one of these golden ones, I promise I will leave them be. Or try my best. Gold. Shining. Moving. You get my drift.
- Along Came a Spider by James Patterson – we’ve covered this relationship.
- The Lost Apothecary by by Sarah Penner – Bugs, bugs, bugs – crawling things to make kittens happy.
How do you feel about bugs?
Remember to add your link to Jana’s blog and please share your whatever covers with us. Have a wonderful Tuesday!
Fun topic and not one I’ve ever thought of before! I’m not sure books with bugs on the cover grab my attention though I do like butterflies. Maybe if Elza was picking my books for me!
If Elza was picking your books for you, she would definitely say please read Miss Benson’s Beetle! Oh it’s such a lovely book.
I love the variety of bugs you chose! 🙂
Thank you Suzanne!
I am not a fan of bugs in the house, but I do not mind them outdoors. 🙂 And they can be very cleverly placed on book covers like the ones you’ve shared here. This was a great idea! Thank you for sharing.
As long as they remain cleverly placed on the covers of books, I don’t mind bugs at all!
Thanks for visiting us!
[…] Top Ten Tuesday – You know what Bugs me? (Books with Bugs on the cover) […]
Your title is very creative!
Thank you Sarita!!
A great take for this week’s theme!
Thank you Mae!
I always try to have fun with TTT and the inspiration came from Miss Benson’s Beetle. Such a great book!
Fantastic idea for a blog post! Yes, bugs!
Thank you Debbie!
Always happy to please.
I loved Charlotte’s Web as a kid despite hating spiders with a passion! Ugh I hate Lord of The Flies so much, gives me GCSE English flashbacks……
Thank Heavens I found another person who hated Lord of the Flies!!
I have one or two Daddy-Long-Legs in the Library, spiders love books. I just call them all Charlotte or Wilbur and then the kids don’t mind them at all.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are looking forward to a good weekend!
Very cool blogpost title for a very cool TTT theme. I laughed when I saw Charlotte’s Web here, and of course, Lord of the Flies!! Oh, and there’s Silence of the Lambs too…. Great post!
Hi dearest Lex!! Ah thanks my friend! As you know, I always love TTT and to just have some fun with it.
Hope you had a good week and that you are looking forward to a good weekend.
Ha, what a fun topic! I am NOT a fan of bugs, but I do love Charlotte’s Web and The very Hungry Caterpillar. Great list!!
Hi Lisa!
I loved all the books featured on this list and I don’t like any of the bugs also featured. (Winky face)
I cannot remember if I ever read Charlotte’s Web or not, but I used to watch that movie ALL THE TIME. It’s a bit part of my childhood memories. 🙂 Thanks so much for visiting Finding Wonderland this week. Appreciate this.
Hi there Rissi!
I’ve read Charlotte’s Web many years ago and also saw the movie a gazillion times when I was small! It was wonderful!
Hope you have a good weekend to look forward to.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar is one of our favorites right now!!
There are such wonderful classic reads for youngsters in English. We don’t have that many in Afrikaans sad to say. Glad to hear it’s still popular with your little one too! Still a popular choice at the school library.
Have a good weekend!
Seeing Charlotte’s Web is very nostalgic. I have great memories of that one.
Hi Tanya!
It’s still a very popular read with the youngsters. Somethings will just never grow old.
Have a good weekend!
I love the Very Hungry Caterpillar. Fun topic for this week!
I almost fell off the bed the other night when my husband asked me what The Very Hungry Caterpillar is! Granted English is our second language, but still….!
Hope you had a good week Alicia and that you will have a wonderful weekend.
OMG! This post was hilarious! That Butterfly Garden book was not, though. That one creeped me out big time, maybe even more than Silence of the Lambs did.
Hi there Deanna!
Aaah so glad to hear you’ve enjoyed our post! Post hilarious, some of the books not so much yes. I still haven’t read The Butterfly Garden, but it’s been on my TBR for the longest time. Hope to get to it real soon.
So sorry for the late reply and I hope you will have a good weekend!
Ha! This is awesome! My cats would probably complain about the same thing.
Hi Jenni!
They really can’t understand that we just don’t share the same feelings about bugs. And they can be so persistent…!
Have a wonderful weekend ahead.
Fun twist on the topic! Though I’m not really a fan of bugs, they’re okay if they’re on book covers 🙂
Hi Lindsey!
I guess we need to look at this both ways – if bugs didn’t exist, we wouldn’t have been able to have these gorgeous book covers!! And Elza does mainly kill them, I have to give her that credit.
Great idea! Not gonna lie, I am NOT a big fan of bugs at all. However, these books look amazing and I really want to read Charlotte’s Web soon, it’s such a classic! Thanks for sharing!
I don’t think most people are big fans of bugs. Except those crazy ones who study them. And cats of course.
Thanks for visiting us!
I don’t mind bugs on the cover but not in my house!!!
I agree 100% with you! But if Elza can have her way, I think she’d like a couple in every single room.
Good choice for a cover element! There are some wonderful “bug” covers out there, and you’ve found some terrific ones.
Hi Lark! Thanks so much! I saw Miss Benson’s Beetle while working on Canva and inspiration just struck!
Thanks for visiting us.
Aah I love this post! I love the looks of these books.
Have a great week and happy reading.
Hi Maureen!
Aah thanks!! We always have fun with TTT and this was just fun putting together.
Hope you are having a good week!
Charlotte’s Web is so sweet, I read it when I was quite young! I did also appreciate Lord Of The Flies as a book, and I got to discuss it with my school book club which was very interesting!
Happy TTT and thank you so much for all of your support on my blog!

Lord of the Flies is one of those books that you need to read at certain time in your life. Not when you are way into your 30’s already! Then you just see everything that’s “wrong” with it.
Thanks for visiting us and for commenting on our post!
Interesting choice and haven’t seen that one yet.

Thanks Anita! Glad you’ve enjoyed it.
Oh, what fun! Bugs on the cover just sound adorable! Love these creepy crawly covers.
Thanks so much Wendy! I sure love my bugs on book covers, but for the rest – stay away!! Especially grasshoppers. I really don’t like grasshoppers!
See here’s the thing. Us silly humans are not as fond of the little buggers as you kitties are. Well, unless they’re on covers I guess. But in real life they need to stay outside! 🙂 Still, these are nice. I do like them on kids’ covers! The cricket in times Square is always a fave of mine. I like The Lost Apothecary and also Sue Monk Kidd caught my eye- her daughter wrote The Shark Club which is a favorite of mine.
Hi there Greg! I’ve read Elza your talking-to, but she just walked away (I kid you not). Yes, those buggers need to stay outside please.
I don’t know The Shark Club, need to take a look immediately.
Thanks for visiting us Greg!
I really liked The Shark Club! It’s got a conservation emphasis but also a romance, it’s set in Florida but if I remember correctly there’s a brief cameo for Madagascar (or somewhere in Africa- it’s been a few years since I read it)…
I’ve just searched for it on Goodreads and yes! It does sound good! Adding it to my TBR…
I hope you love it!
You’re making me want to reread Charlotte’s Web. 🙂
Luckily Charlotte’s Web is one of those books you can read over and over and you never get tired of it.
Thanks for visiting Lydia!
I’ve read four of these, and I don’t like bugs either. We had a field mouse sneak into our home last week and one of my cats caught it and killed it. I had quite the surprise when I found it in the middle of the kitchen, yikes!
Elza isn’t big on rodents. I guess maybe because she’s not much bigger than a rodent I guess!! LOL!!
Thanks for stopping by!
What a fun post. I’ve read 6 from your last and The Last Apothecary is on our book group list TBR soon.
Those great minds are at it again Diane! The Last Apothecary is still on my TBR list, hope to get a copy soon and start reading!
Fun list, I love your take on this week’s prompt. But I’m like you and have the same reaction when my cats bring them to me 😊😉
The cover of the Lost Apothecary is really gorgeous…
Here is my TTT post: https://herseriallife.com/top-15-books-with-red-cover-spring-2022-tbr/
Hi there Rae!
She’s the only one to bring her latest catch in, the other cats discard of their “prey” outside. Butterflies, moths and geckos are her favorite by far. I do like bugs on my books though.
I’m happy to have bugs on my book covers. Not so much in my house!
I agree completely! But living in Africa, it’s one of those things…
Thanks for visiting Marg!
So fun. I never would have thought of this for my list. I considered flowers or a spring theme but then opted for weirdly awful classic covers My TTT is here. Please visit and comment. Thanks.
I was actually busy working on Canva and my eye caught The Miss Benson’s Beetle cover and inspiration strike!
