The Sunday Post #28

Posted January 31, 2021 by elzaread in Stacking the shelves, The Sunday Post, The Sunday Salon / 29 Comments

Greetings all you lovely humans! How was your week? I can’t really tell you much as it felt as if I’ve hardly seen my Mommy at all. Strangest thing of all is that is actually suppose to be a big thing. Mommy was very busy at school and had lots of new enrolments. I would have preferred her rolling in at home though. And then karma kicked in. As she always does.

Women of a certain age, not quite Jane Fonda old and not quite capable of the Jane Fonda moves she pulled when she was young – are bound to hurt something by trying to pull those Jane Fonda moves.

Instead of pulling the moves, my Mommy pulled a muscle in her hip. After hip-hopping (not the dance style, literally hopping on one hip) for a couple of days, she landed at the physio and came home on Thursday feeling bruised and sore and very sorry for herself. Of course I was right here to comfort her. Same thing on Friday, so thank you Karma! Unfortunately, she basically just went to sleep and didn’t do much reading or blogging at all.

Adding to the Litter

The Night Portrait by Laura Morelli was on my Mommy’s Christmas wish list and she is very excited for this one. Tomorrow night will be the first meeting for the D.E.A.R. ladies Book Club for the year and I’m sure she’s going to come home with a couple more books.

Scratching the Blog Pole

Due to work commitments and a pulled hip muscle, not much scratching on the blog pole. We did partake in this week’s Top Ten Tuesday where we talked about new to us authors we’ve read in 2020. This lovely guy played host and by clicking on the gif, you will be able to see our post.

Yesterday we updated our Classics Club Spin #25 and also updated our Around the World in Eighty Books Reading Challenge.

Let’s hope the upcoming week will be a bit better. We will definitely do a Wondrous Words Wednesday on Wednesday, you are welcome to join in!

On the Couch

That’s basically where we’ve been the past 3 days. We didn’t read as much as you should think. Healing a pulled muscle obviously requires a lot of sleep. We did finish our ARC of  Knitted and Knifed by Tracey Drew and our review will be up somewhere this week. We are currently reading:
I really don’t actually know what to say here. This Bridgerton Series seriously affected my Mommy’s head. This is so not her reading style, but she is devouring the books. My Nibbles are on her stopping after the third one. If you want to see me and raise me some more Nibbles, you are welcome.
Currently Watching

Still stuck on Bridgerton, but Daddy doesn’t care for it much. So I watch Doc Martin with him.
And that’s it from us for this week , what happened in your part of the world?

  1. I'm so sorry about your muscle pull. I hope you heal up this week. And get some good reading and watching in while doing so.

I love me some Jane Fonda exercise. I watched a bunch of her videos when I was a teenager. lol.

  2. I recognized Jane Fonda's outfit before I recognized her, lol ! Sorry for your hip, the same kind of accident happened to my partner, he's in for 10 visits to the physiotherapist. I need to watch Doc Martin, I saw a couple of episodes years ago and loved the show and the setting. I hope you get better soon and everybody takes good care of you (it's time to get hold of a bell to make your demandes heard, just sayin'). Mwah !

    • Hi Laura! I really had to restrain myself not to start reading it immediately when it downloaded on my kindle. But there are still a few ahead so I will remain patience.

My hip is much better! Thank you!!

  3. I'm so sorry to hear about the pulled muscle. I hope you are feeling better soon.

Bridgerton isn't my genre either, but I just started reading a sample of book #1 and I'm already addicted. I need to make time to read this series and then watch it on Netflix. Have a good week and feel better!

    • Hi Yvonne! Can't wait to get an update from you regarding the Bridgerton series! I think you will quite like it!!

I'm feeling much better, thank you…..

    • Hi Helen! One week and two physio sessions and a massage, I am feeling much better!

We haven't watched Doc Martin for a couple of months, but now we are back at it.

    • Hi Kimberly! Cartwheels! Good grief, I won't even dream about doing it now. Come to think of it, I've actually struggled with it even as a child…!!

    • Hi Shelleyrae! Every now and then I also want to convince myself that excercise is actually really bad for my health. But then I start feeling guilty and just go back. After a week, the hip is much better now!

Haven't watched Bridgerton this week, hope to get to it next week.

Hope you had a wonderful week!

  4. Oh, so sorry that you have pulled a muscle – and in such a very painful place! You have my profound sympathy as I regularly suffer with sciatica, so I know there are some MAJOR muscles and nerves in the area that have the power to COMPLAIN LOUDLY when they are out of sorts! So glad you have a fluffy bundle of fur to help take your mind off things… Wishing you well in the coming week!

    • Hi there Sarah! The hip is much better after two sessions of physio and dry needling. But I will have to take care. So sorry to hear about your sciatica, I know that can really be painful.

I'm also very grateful to have Elza to keep me company and luckily she loves to cuddle and be the center of attention.

    • Feeling much better already! The week does loom a bit busy ahead of me, but I'm sure I'll be able to get some reading done!

      Thanks for stopping by.

  5. Oh, dear, I'm so sorry to hear that you've pulled a muscle in your hip. I've gotten injured a few times while exercising, and it always seems ridiculous to get hurt while trying to improve your body. I guess that's just the way life is, though.

Good luck with your book club. It's always a happy day when we are able to get together and talk books. And I hope Night Portrait is all you hope.

And, happily, you finished your Classics Club Spin. I've started on another Classics Club book, Main Street. I hope it will illuminate what drives America for me.

Still haven't gotten around to Bridgerton. It looks like I need to wait until after we finish all of the All Creatures Great and Small. It looks like it will be an all-encompassing experience.

    See you Tuesday. And Wednesday!

    • Now that was said really well, Debs. It is ridiculous to get hurt while trying to improve your body. But the exercise is mostly good for us, so let's remain positive.

I've asked my hubby to check if he can find All Creature Great and Small for us, haven't followed up again (as you know we need to do with husbands).

Soooo looking forward to Book Club and I plan on reading Night Portrait as soon as I'm done with the Bridgerton book. See, I already forget the names so the novelty is probably starting to go off.

Have a good week Debbie and yes, I will see Tuesday and Wednesday!

  6. I need to catch up with the Bridgerton Series on Netflix, I tried reading the first book and I was not quite happy with it. I am hoping that the adaptation may have corrected the things I didn't like.

Also take care and rest your body!

    • Hi there! I've watched the first two episodes and then decided to read the first book. Not my reading preference at all. I think if I picked up the book before watching the show, I wouldn't have read it. I think the show and the books compliment each other well.
I have a "short" week as we are taking a long weekend. Will make sure to rest up as much as possible!

  7. Oh no, I am so sorry to hear about your hip muscle, Mareli. Sending you lots of healing prayers and love. I hope it will fully mend soon! ? As for my week it has been a quiet, cold and snowy one, where I have just gone to work, read and cooked comfort food. Take care, rest up and happy reading in the coming week. ?

    • Comfort food really is the best when it's cold and wet outside.
My hip is much better already! Thankfully I am a very good patient.?
Thanks for your care and well wishes! Hope you will have a wonderful week.

  8. Oh no- hope the muscle pull isn't too bad! I always laugh at stuff that I used to be able to do and now I end up twisting something lol.

I hope you have a good week and be careful!! 🙂

Doc Martin! Haven't seen that in a while…

    • People of a certain age Greg, people of a certain age…

Doc Martin is hilarious, but if I were Louisa, he wouldn't be alive anymore.

We are taking a long weekend next week, so I'll take a nice rest then.

      Have a good week!
