Library Card April 2022 & Weekend Book Friends #28

Library Card April 2022 & Weekend Book Friends #28

Greetings you guys! Where did March go? When I searched for my Library Card now, I’ve realized we never did a Library Card for March. Good grief! Our last one was for February. No idea how this happened. I am at least very proud to report back that we have completed our February Library Card with only one book that ended up being a DNF. April has quite a few public holidays coming up and we have quite a few books to get through so we are very grateful for the upcoming public holidays. My Mommy had Book Club on Wednesday night and she brought the follow books back for this month’s reading: Book Club The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper is actually still my Mommy’s book and it should go out of Book Club in July. She hasn’t read it yet though and we don’t want it to just disappear onto the shelf again. The Maid by Nita Prose is a brand new addition to the Club and yes, my Mommy called first deps. Very excited for this one due to all the brilliant reviews. The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak finally came home with her. I do hope that […]

Library Card February 2022

Library Card February 2022

Greetings you guys! Just before the month drops to double digits, let’s quickly see what is on our Library Card for February. Oh wait, I guess I quickly need to update our January one! Okay, all done – Library Card January 2022. Book Club These are always our perfect and favorite picks for the month. My Mommy loves the Book Club, such a lovely diverse group of women together. State of the ARC Inspired by so many of you for using those lovely spreadsheets and monthly planners, my Mommy started using a diary this year that provides all that and she actually uses it! A pity that she’s left it at home and has no clue what is waiting for her on the ARC schedule. Except for this one: Yes! It’s the fifth instalment of Destiny Falls and we believe it’s the best one yet! About 80% done with it already and will have our review up over the weekend. Publication day is tomorrow. We promise to update the other ARC’s as soon as we are reunited with the daily planner. The Pigeonhole Strange for a cat to be so fascinated with the habitat of a bird, don’t you think. […]

Library Card January 2022 & Weekend Book Friends #26

Library Card January 2022 & Weekend Book Friends #26

Greetings you guys! It’s January and all the humans that I know are full of new years resolutions and good intentions for 2022. My Mommy is no different. Not that she has any new resolutions, she just wants to make good on all her previous good intentions. Like sticking to our monthly Library Card. We might be paving our way to hell with all these good intentions, but perhaps by really putting some effort in, we might just end up on the straight and narrow. She has a brand new diary that she plans on using this year. Mostly to keep track of reading and blogging and my feeding schedule. Okay, maybe the last part is not quite necessary. She never forgets to feed me. Let’s see what are pavers are for this month: Book Club We had Book Club beginning of December and we will only have Book Club again in February. Mommy finished all her English books and now she’s left with only the Afrikaans books. The good thing about the Afrikaans books, is that she reads them quite quickly. I guess it is normally easier if it’s your mother tongue. I need to find a book with […]

Library Card September 2021 & Weekend Book Friends #21

Library Card September 2021 & Weekend Book Friends #21

Greetings you guys! It’s the weekend and time for some well deserved reading. The passed two weeks have been a bit crazy with not a lot of reading done. It’s gorgeous weather out there, spring sure is in the air. So maybe, just maybe we will even sit in the sun reading. Whoo hoo! Excitement is in the air. But before we can get reading, we first have to fill our library card for the month. Our August Library Card wasn’t too bad and even though we behave like real typical felines and don’t commit to anything, it helps a lot to fill our monthly Library Card.  We will treat our September Library Card, the same way we treat the weather this time of year. Dress for spring, but bring a jersey or a sweater. Carry Overs                  Book Club Picks                  Kindle          White Oleander is also a Kindle read, but I suspect it’s going to be a carry over for some time to come. Beautifully written and I think it needs to be savoured. We’ve read the first one in the Isle of Man Cozy series last year and we […]

Library Card August 2021

Library Card August 2021

Greetings all you lovely humans! Can you believe it’s August already? Where does time fly to? And are you actually having fun? We all know the saying Time flies when you are having fun. Time’s just flying. Having fun doesn’t seem to be a requirement anymore. How was your month of July on the reading front? It appears as if our July Library Card was more of a guideline than an agenda to follow. Oh well, we did still read a couple of books. I’ve got no idea what the August winds will blow in with it, but it still won’t stop us to “visit” our virtual library and fill our library card. My Mommy is very slowly but surely busy sorting out our “library”. Her Kindle is mostly sorted out now and we still need to tackle the TBR list on Goodreads and then of course all the physical books that are currently in storage. So those will have to wait a couple of months. Thankfully we still have Book Club to get some physical books from. Here’s our Library Card picks for August: Book Club            Update:    We are still busy reading Midnight at the Bright Ideas […]

Library Card July 2021 and Friendly Fill-ins

Library Card July 2021 and Friendly Fill-ins

Greetings Humans. No exclamation marks today. My Mommy is not in the best of moods. Who else got affected with the latest (once again) Blogger update? Have you noticed that our beautiful blog header is just gone? But let’s not get into it now – that’s what The Sunday Post is for. It’s Friday and time to have a bit of a weekend. No use in trying to tell you what we will read this weekend, we are still not done with the decorating and painting and sticking of wallpaper. So whatever lands on in your lap from our Library Card, will have to do. Library Card July 2021 We have a couple of renewables on our library card this month. June has been nothing but awful and we haven’t read as much as planned.  The only good thing that comes from our June Library Card, is The Rose Code (we still need to review it) and A Gentleman in Moscow. Both were such gorgeous reads. Let’s see which books made our July Library Card: Book Club Due to South Africa being right in the middle of the third wave of Covid 19 and the dreadful DELTA strain is taking its toll […]

Library Card – June 2021

Library Card – June 2021

Greetings you all! My Mommy had Book Club on Monday night and that means that she can finally fill her library card for the month of June. Our week has been hectically busy, so we only get to fill it tonight. You will notice that my Mommy’s months don’t always go from the first to the first. It’s a bit more like the moon. Every month it is a different date. We didn’t do all that bad in our Library Card – May 2021. We only have 2 books that need to be renewed.          We did start with The Choice, it’s a bit on the heavy side, but a lovely book. We didn’t get to Waterborne, but we did read another book for the same publisher and our review will be up during the next couple of days. Update: We are around halfway through The  Choice and 30% done with Waterborne. We struggle to get into that one a bit, lots of action and science that we are not so good with. But we’ll push through! So what books are making our list for this month? My Mommy and Daddy is going away tomorrow for a long weekend, so […]

Library Card – May 2021

Library Card – May 2021

Greetings all you lovely people! I’ve been eying all your gorgeous monthly wrap-up posts and your plan-to-read posts for a while now. It really is a way to streamline your month just a little bit better. As you know, my Mommy means the world to me, but she can also irritate the living daylight out of me. Mostly because she is so ridiculously unorganized. How she ever manages at school and with running a library and her own business, really is beyond me. She never, ever knows what is going on in her reading life. She’s got this amazing system at school for the students to control their library books and cards and she always knows exactly what book is with what student and where their library cards are. It’s an easy enough system with each child being assigned a barcode to a little stick that they can decorate as they want. And then it hit me! That’s what we need! We need our very own library card. And I’ll take possession of it and make sure my Mommy sticks to it. If she doesn’t, I will penalize her the same way she penalizes the kids at school when their […]
