She did it with Numbers – 10 Agatha Christie books with numbers in the title

She did it with Numbers – 10 Agatha Christie books with numbers in the title

Greetings you guys! It’s still cold and raining outside and the perfect weather to snuggle with a good murder mystery. What can be better than an Agatha Christie one? That’s why we’ve decided to combine today’s Top Ten Tuesday with a list of Agatha Christie novels. Today’s theme for TTT is Ten Books with Numbers in the title and it was quite easy to go through our Agatha Christie bibliography and list 10 titles with numbers. Towards Zero – We actually don’t know the Superintendent Battle series at all, but we will still get to it. An elderly widow is murdered at a clifftop seaside house…What is the connection between a failed suicide attempt, a wrongful accusation of theft against a schoolgirl, and the romantic life of a famous tennis player? To the casual observer, apparently nothing. But when a houseparty gathers at Gull’s Point, the seaside home of an elderly widow, earlier events come to a dramatic head. It’s all part of a carefully paid plan – for murder…   One, Two, Buckle my Shoe – We don’t like dentists either. What reason would an amiable dentist like Dr. Morely have for committing suicide? He didn’t have emotional difficulties, money problems, or […]

Ten Books we so desperately wish we could read for the first time, we sommer read it again

Ten Books we so desperately wish we could read for the first time, we sommer read it again

Greetings! It’s Tuesday and time for Top Ten Tuesday hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. Today’s topic is one for my Mommy. I’m still too much of a wee little thing to wish to read books for the first time again. My Mommy is old has read a lot of books in her life already, so I’m sure there’s a few she wishes she could read for the first time. The only help I can offer here, is let’s just read them again! Then it will be for the first time for me at least. *Have you noticed the strange word in our heading? I will read the following 10 books with the greatest of pleasure with my Mommy. First time for me, again for her:   1. A Town Like Alice by Nevil Shute – Nevil Shute’s most beloved novel, a tale of love and war, follows its enterprising heroine from the Malayan jungle during World War II to the rugged Australian outback. Jean Paget, a young Englishwoman living in Malaya, is captured by the invading Japanese and forced on a brutal seven-month death march with dozens of other women and children. A few years after the war, Jean is back in England, […]

Ten Favorite Reading Spots

Ten Favorite Reading Spots

Greetings Humans! It’s Tuesday and that means it’s time for Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. Today’s topic is an easy pick – Ten Favorite Places to Read. Or at least I thought it was an easy pick, but my Mommy says she thinks we interpret it slightly differently. So we’ve decided to split it up into two sections. Section A will be my 5 favorite reading spots and Section B will be my Mommy’s 5 favorite places to read. Section A – Elza’s favorite reading spots 1. The couch – This is where about 70% of our reading is done. We love that couch! 2. In Bed – I’ll say around 15%. Unless we wake up and it’s cold and raining. Then we can stay there for the whole day. But at night we tend to fall asleep… 3. The dining room table – For audiobooks mainly! My Mommy loves coloring or doing Diamond Painting, or just plain painting while listening to audiobooks. 4. Grandmamma’s old Banana Rocker. My Mommy grew up on that chair and she’s read at least a 100 books over the years on it. No wonder she inherited it. 5. A […]

Ten Books I’ve read in one sitting (or lying)

Ten Books I’ve read in one sitting (or lying)

Greetings you guys! It’s Tuesday and time for Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. Yes, it is raining cats and dogs out there. Guess it’s because we actually manage to do a Top Ten Tuesday post twice in a row! Perfect weather to grab a book and just read until the book is done. From start to end. Yes, yes – I know you have to read all books from start to end, but today we are talking about those one sitting (or lying) reads that you just couldn’t put down. My Mommy is really good with one sitting (or lying) reads. Her week days are normally cramped with school and stuff, so on weekends she will just read as much as possible. As you know by now, we don’t like wrecking our little brains to come up with titles for TTT, we just pick the first 10 that pops in her head.                  1. Miss Benson’s Beetle by Rachel Joyce – A rainy day. A holiday. A perfect book. 2. Before I Say Goodbye by Mary Higgins Clark – The world woke up on the 31st of January 2020 with the news that the Queen […]

Ten Questionable Book Titles

Ten Questionable Book Titles

Greetings Humans. We haven’t done a Top Ten Tuesday Post in weeks, oh how we miss it. I wish I could say we have a fun and quirky post for you today, but I can hardly think straight at the moment. Our country is looking like a scene from a post apocalyptic movie. The National Defense Force is being called into action, but the burning and looting of businesses, factories, pack houses, ag you name it, are still continuing. Sky News So we are just going to list the first 10 books we can think of today with questions in the titles. Luckily my Mommy has a special compartment in her little brain just for books. 1. Why didn’t they ask Evans? by Agatha Christie 2. N or M? by Agatha Christie 3. How does your garden grow? by Agatha Christie 4. Madam, will you talk? by Mary Stewart 5. Where are the Children? by Mary Higgins Clark 6. Coffee, Tea or Murder? by Jessica Fletcher 7. Who’s afraid of Virginia Woolf? by Edward Albee 8. Where’d you go, Bernadette? by Maria Semple 9. Anybody out there? by Marian Keyes 10. May I bring a Friend? by Beatrice Schenk de Regniers You all know the drill, add your link to […]

The new Mary Higgins Clark in 10 sentences (Ghostwriter, Elza)

Greetings you all! We didn’t do a Top Ten Tuesday in a couple of weeks. Work work work…. But when my Mommy saw this week’s prompt from Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl she had a brainwave. The prompt for today is Book Titles that are complete sentences.  When my Mommy grew up, Mary Higgins Clark was the ultimate queen of crime and to this day, she will still pick up a MHC novel and enjoy it. My aunt Hannelize, has just about all the Mary Higgins Clark books printed. But have you ever noticed how many of her book titles are complete sentences? You can write a novel only with the book titles! Let me proof it: It was Christmas Eve and the De Winters family had a fun-filled, dashing through the snow, day. All three De Winters children went to bed early to make sure Santa Claus don’t pass them by. We all know that he sees you when you’re sleeping and won’t leave any presents if you are still awake. Just before midnight, there was a cry in the night. Mrs. De Winters jumped out of bed and ran to the nursery. It was empty. “Where are the children?“, she screamed in […]

Ten Book Titles that sound like Crayola Crayon Colors

What a beautiful Crayola Crayon day it is here in South Africa. It’s a beautiful, sunny autumn day and I sommer feel like like taking out my coloring book and get coloring. Faithful (a heavenly blue) – Inspired by Faithful by Alice Hoffman 5. Holidate Green, Holidate Red, Holidate Silver – Inspired by Holidate by Monica Murphy 6. Hallowe’en Party (a pumpkin orange) – Inspired by Hallowe’en Party by Agatha Christie 7. Olive Kitteridge (an olive green) – Inspired by Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout 8. Ten Books I’d gladly throw into the Ocean (for the mermaids to read)

Greetings all you beautiful mermaids, mermen and and mercats! It’s time for Top Ten Tuesday and today’s prompt from the lovely Jana over @ That Artsy Reader Girl, is Ten Books I’d gladly throw into the Ocean. As you know me by now, I’m a puppies and rainbows or kittens and unicorns kind of cat. Most dark clouds have a pink lining and a fluffy white kitten can cure just about all ailments in life. We love to be of assistance to you as mere humans, but every now and then we can broaden our paws to also accommodate a few mythical creatures. Like Mermaids. Therefore, we are more than willing to throw a couple of books into the ocean for the mermaids to read. The question is just, what on the bottom of the ocean, would they like to read? Maybe to see how the human authors perceive them? Great idea. Second question – did you know there are so many books about mermaids?? Good grief. And we haven’t read any of them. Except for The Little Mermaid of course. It took my Mommy hours to go through a list of almost 500 books. Here’s our pick of the ten […]

Ten Places in Books we’d love to Live / Die / Travel in

Greetings all you wonderful Humans! How many of you have had the privilege to go travelling over the passed year? Or even better, moved to your dream destination? Life really wasn’t all that much fun the last year, but at least we can still travel and move to our favorite destinations in books. Books never fail on us.  Todays prompt for Top Ten Tuesday, is Places in Books we’d love to live in. But before you can decide where you really want to live, you first need to travel there. And if you are 100% sure that you found your dream destination to live in, you can find your dream destination to die in. We are going to cheat a bit, or not really cheating, rather just save time and take care o the earth and recycle a post. A couple of weeks ago, I used a similar idea for Friday Fives and listed 5 places we’d love to visit, because of books. We will use them again, because we would still love to travel there. And then we’ll add 5 new ones.  1. Guernsey from The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer 2. Rio de Janeiro from The […]

Ten Characters whose job I wish I had (if only I was a human)

Greetings all you beautiful humans! It’s Tuesday and once again, I am hijacking my Mommy’s Top Ten Tuesday post. Today’s prompt from the lovely Jana over @ That Artsy Reader Girl, is Ten Characters whose job I wish I had. It’s obvious that my Mommy already has her dream job (teacher/librarian), otherwise she would have been at home more. So I will entertain you today with my very own selection of the jobs I would have loved to have. If I were a human. And a fictional character. Of course I would have loved to be the Queen of England with a whole string of kittens ladies in waiting, but what would I do all day? Smile and wave is much more appealing to a penguin than to a fluffy white kitten. There are also way to many books to choose from, so I’ll leave that title to someone else.  1. Obsessive Cleaner and Critique of everyone around me I do believe that job title will suit me very well. The closest character from a book I could think of who will fit the bill as well, is Britt-Marie from Britt-Marie was here by Fredrik Backman 2. A Feather Duster with some va-va-va-voom […]
