The Sunday Post #78

Greetings you guys! Tomorrow is the 1st of August… How the heck did we get here? Where did July go? Arrival of the new puppy was planned beginning of June, puppy arrived the 15th of July and poof – it’s end of the month. What did I miss? I guess I’m old news to you guys now as well and you all want to know how the new terror is doing? She’s doing just fine. Growing like a vampire child and terrorizing the whole household. The only major problem is what to call her. Mommy wanted to call her Agatha (Aggie). Yes, for Agatha Christie. Daddy liked Anna more. But now he says she’s not quite an Anna. The grandparents call her Paddy, because she resembles Paddington Bear. I think I’m just going to call her Marmalade. She looks like a Marmalade to me. I don’t like Marmalade very much. Which one of these names would you call her? The rest of life has been good. Mommy is busy at school but what bliss to be done with all the renovations. We are almost getting a rhythm for the year. Halfway to Christmas or not…. I see a few of […]

The Sunday Post #77

Greetings. Oh what horror I had to endure over the passed 48 hours. I have no idea whatsoever how I’m ever going to survive this. I keep on scratching myself to see if I’m awake and this isn’t just my worst nightmare. Just look at this little horrible creature Mommy and Daddy brought home on Friday afternoon… Good grief. You would have thought after they had me, the bar was set at the acceptable standard of beauty. This thing is horrendous. And njapping. And definitely not a cat. Worst part of all – naming it Anna and hoping it will make me go all warm and fuzzy with acceptance. Of course I have my tail in a knot and ignore my Mommy completely. That will be the status quo until she gets rid of the little mutt.  And if she doesn’t, I will have to take matters into my own hands. Luckily my Mommy goes back to school this week, so it will provide me with ample time to make a plan. I just hope she doesn’t plan on taking the little mongrel to school with her. What horrors did you have to face this week? Adding to the litter […]

The Sunday Post #76

Greetings you guys! Guess where we are sitting right now typing this post? YES!! In my Mommy’s Library! Daddy just brought the computer down and set up the printer and everything. Gosh, Heaven truly must be some sort of a library. Just about all the renovations are done now, but the pavers are a bit of a disaster and will need to be redone. Completely. *sigh* Luckily that is outside. Me and Mommy worked very hard the last two weeks. Unpacking boxes with an adorable white cat who is ever so eager to lend a hand, was apparently no easy task. My Mommy still has one more week of holidays and I really, really do hope she plans on just reading and relaxing a bit. Please…. What have you been up to? Adding to the Litter The History Quill Book Club is one of my Mommy’s favorite book discovery sites and she has never been disappointed in any of her review copies from them. As the name suggests, they primarily deal with historical fiction. They decided to try a few different genres as well and seeing that we’ve had a lucky streak with fantasy recently, we are willing to give Between […]

The Sunday Post #75

Greetings you guys! How have you all been doing? I am happy to report that we’ve had a bit of rainfall in our region. Our water supply dam is still only at 13%, but we continue to be hopeful for more rains to fall. It’s dreadfully cold here and I have to let you guys know just how wonderful my Mommy and Daddy is. My Daddy sees I’m a real little sh*t and spoiled rotten, but I think it’s important to know what you want in this life and stick to it. I don’t like to sleep under the bedcovers. Or in a basket. I want to sleep on Mommy and Daddy’s bed with just a light blanky over me. My own blanky please. Nothing else is acceptable. Therefore, Mommy and Daddy climbs into bed every night with my pink blanky close at hand. Wherever I move on the bed during the night, they will then tuck me in with my blanky. Aren’t they just wonderful?! Most of the renovations are done and now the fun parts start. Decorating, unpacking, throwing stuff away… Quite a few DIY projects are happening here as well and my Mommy is going through a box of […]

The Sunday Post #74

Greetings you guys! Another week just flew by and here we are again at Sunday wondering where the heck the week has gone. How are you guys doing? We are good! I’d say we are about 97% done with the renovations. There are still a few things that need to be done. The big clean up is starting this week and I can see that it’s going to be a bit of a challenge. We are starting with water shedding tomorrow. Between the hours of 10:00 – 16:00, we will have not water. Monday to Friday. Our dam levels are at critical levels and we need rain desperately. Let’s not go into the politics and rather just pray for deliverance. And rain. Faith like potatoes and this little guy. Adding to the Litter If only the rains want to fall as much as the books fell from the sky this week. I am not going to make a graphic now, but we promise to give a fully updated post on all the new books for Book Club. It will be my Mommy’s turn to host in July, so she went and bought the books she thinks they would like to […]

The Sunday Post #71

Hi there! I hope you guys are all doing well? Just from my greeting tone, I guess you notice it’s not Elza chatting up a storm with you today. Nope, good old boring Mommy Mareli here. No idea what’s up with the little shat the last couple of days, but she’s been as moody as only a spoiled rotten cat can be. My husband scolded her earlier this week for scratching the furniture and she threw her tail in the wind and refuses to sleep on the bed at night, she just curls herself in a pathetic bundle on the couch (yes I do tuck her in with her favorite blanky). Except for feeding time, we hardly see her at all. I do wonder when it will be a good time to let her now that she will have to stay with the babysitter as from Friday again. Although, she might welcome it this time and perhaps she would have forgiven us for our numerous trespasses when we return from our holiday. We are going to Mauritius!!! Whoo hoo!!! Rather on a whim here, my in-laws are there for three weeks and asked us to join them for the last […]

The Sunday Post #69

Greetings you guys! How was your week? Can you believe we are heading into the last week of April? Good grief! Our week flew by, but it wasn’t all that bad. It’s just dreadfully cold here and my Mommy doesn’t like that. Last week, a few of you asked me about the diamond painting my Mommy so loves to do. There’s nothing much to it, to be honest. If you ask me, I’d say it’s a rather brain-dead exercise. I think that’s exactly what my Mommy likes about it. She doesn’t have to think very hard or concentrate on anything but listening to her audiobook. Just stick those little sparkly dots on the correlating space, listen to your book and wait for the end result. It’s usually worth it! We had a good reading week as well and got some great books in the mail and by clicking away on Amazon’s free books for World Book Day. Adding to the Litter We’ve received a new book for review from Netgalley and our very fist physical book in the mail. Excitement overload! My Mommy will be taking part in a readalong this upcoming week with a few other South African Instagrammers. […]

The Sunday Post #67

Greetings you guys! How are you all doing? It does appear as if summer is really over here in SA and I love all the fluffy blankets and snuggling with Mommy and Daddy. Mommy doesn’t like the colder weather though. She’s been a bit moody the last couple of days, but she’ll get over it eventually. School started on Monday and in the blink of an eye, our week was over. Mommy is very excited for the new term and the kids are school are also now used to having actual library classes. Only 8% of schools in South Africa have functioning libraries and my Mommy is very happy to be one of very, very few school librarians who still try to make these classes fun and relatable for the students. This week they had so much fun with building book stacks spelling our school’s name: Victory Christian School. The kids are also very interested in our blog, of course I am the main attraction here, so my Mommy came up with a very clever idea. She is busy creating a page that will link here on our blog where the kids can write their very own book reviews. They are […]

The Sunday Post #66

Greetings Humans! How has your week been? Our week wasn’t all that bad and the building project seemed to have stopped breeding at last. Now we just need to bring all the little projects to life and to completion. And try not go sound as crazy as last week. The only thing that added another brick in our wall of insanity this week, was the fact that we were without internet for 3 days. Unbelievable how dependent you humans are to Greek Theatre. Ever noticed that the Wi-Fi signal symbol looks quite similar to the layout of Greek Theatre arenas? Just comes to proof that through the ages, humans love to gather together and be entertained. Pretty much like dogs. Cats are content to sleep all day and to be left in peace. Adding to the Litter Acquiring new books is one of my Mommy’s favorite forms of entertainment. Here’s what’s new on our shelves: Cragside: A 1930’s Murder Mystery by MJ Porter – For review from The History Quill Book Club Drawn by the Current by Jocelyn Green – For review from Netgalley Murder on Port Meadow by Annie & Maria Dalton – BookBub daily deals My Mommy also has Book Club […]

The Sunday Post #63

Greetings you guys! We’ve been meaning to do our Sunday Post since yesterday, but then we got so submerged in our review book, the whole world just came to a standstill. Every now and then, I think to myself: no more review books. Just read what’s on the shelf and on the age-old Kindle.  And then we realize, we truly are blessed to have such wonderful review books fall into our laps and the TBR can wait a bit longer. It’s not going anywhere is it? Our latest read, Letters to Bizzy was nothing but delightful and thought provoking. Can’t wait to blabber on about it tomorrow for a full review. Letters to Bizzy finds a man, John Tibbits, past his prime staring down the barrel of old age, having to come to grips with his mother’s death and regrettable fact his dysfunctional youth has burdened him with a lifetime of unwelcome baggage. As he sorts through his mother’s personal effects he discovers boxes of unopened letters written some 50 years earlier from a man, Robert Guthrie, to his daughter, Bizzy. They tell the story of a life lived on a barrier island off the coast of North Carolina, Bogue Banks. […]
