The Sunday Post #62

Greetings! How are you all doing? Who wants to talk Agatha Christie? My Mommy has been a bit obsessive the last week or so. Okay, to be fair towards her, she is usually slightly obsessive when it comes to Agatha Christie, but the new Kenneth Branagh’s latest adaptation of Death on the Nile, pushed her over the edge. That’s why we’ve missed our Sunday Post last week. We were too busy drawing comparisons between the different adaptations and the book. If you’ve missed it, you can read our post here – Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie.  I’m trying to think if anything else excited happened over the last 2 weeks. Nothing that I can think of. Renovations are still ongoing, school is still busy, I’m still adorable. Let’s see what happened in our bookish lives. Adding to the litter The Country Club Murders has been on our radar for ages. When the first instalment on Book Bub’s daily deals, we grabbed it immediately. No to get time to read it. Cats in the City of Plague is one of those novellas we stumbled on by pure chance. This sounds lovely and I’m sure we will read it one night this […]

The Sunday Post #61

Greetings you guys! Aaah it’s so nice to talk to all of you again. My Mommy and Daddy decided to take an impromptu looooong weekend last week. I’m glad that they had a couple of days of rest and we always love staying with our babysitter. My Mommy was planning on catching up with the blog a bit, but the internet reception wasn’t all that well, so she decided to rather just read, relax and miss me terribly, of course. They came back on Monday morning and the rest of this week has been just a bit crazy and busy. I’ve decided that I think it’s time for me to hijack my Mommy’s diary and to start slotting specific times for blogging in her day. Otherwise, she will always remain stuck at school and being distracted with school stuff. Any of you teachers or retired teachers have the same problem? Adding to the litter Speaking about problems, my Mommy really has a book buying problem. I’ve got no idea when she thinks she’s going to read all the books she has. But I know buying books on special or getting second hand copies for basically a steal, is hard to […]

The Sunday Post #60

Greetings Humans! You can be ever so lucky that I am on my post today and ready to present you with yet another Sunday Edition. Yes, we have disappeared from the blogosphere for a week or two and I am disappearing to my own secret hiding place on a daily basis from Mondays – Fridays. No idea how long I will have to stay in hiding, but I suspect we count in months and not weeks here. Construction at our house is well on the way and it’s nothing by noise and disturbances and dust. All that dust. Oh how I struggle to keep my fluffy white coat as white as snow. Oh yes, that’s why we were off-line as well. We were literally off line. One of the bulldozers got hold of the Internet Cable and tore at it like a puppy to a sock. It took a couple of days to get fixed. Hence our absence. Mommy says patience is a virtue that I should really learn to practice a bit. The renovations will bring along our very own study and home-library, so I guess I it will all be worth it. How’s the construction of your life […]

The Sunday Post #59

Greetings you guys! How was your week? My Mommy’s first week of school is done and it was actually fun. She says she thinks it’s going to be a good year after all and she made the right decision to let go of her Special Needs classes. Of course they will always have a piece of her heart and she is very impressed with the lady taking the classes over. She’s actually a wonderful friend too and my Mommy knows all her kiddies are in good hands. She can now focus on her library at school and on blogging and perhaps just spend more time here with us at home. Now that sounds like a brilliant plan to me. The Big Book teaches us that for everything there is a season and if we live by the changing of the seasons, that’s how we grow we most. I’m sure the transition time won’t be too long, just bare with us for a couple of weeks. Let’s talk books! Adding to the Litter On Tuesday we did this fun Top Ten Tuesday where my Mommy literally ran to the bookshop just to be able to add new books to her collection […]

The Sunday Post #58

Oh what a beautiful morning! The sun is out and shining brightly on our little coastal town. My Mommy went for a nice long walk on the beach and then she sat in the sun reading her book. With a hat and sunblock. I believe she’ now just about ready for the new school year to start. Teachers back at school tomorrow and students on Wednesday. Nothing much to tell you on our side regarding the past week. Trying to enjoy the last days of holidays, prepping for school, doing some gardening. Oh yes! And we finally tackled the right sidebar. Everybody happy? What should still be added or removed? Still no feedback from Bloglovin’ regarding the new domain, but we do still keep our profile open for the time being. What have you been up to? adding to the litter My Mommy’s New Year kind-of-resolution to not buy/go slow on buying new books, didn’t last very long. At least they were both on sale and it really borders on a crime to not buy a book on sale.   We also got our review copy of the latest Destiny Falls instalment to be published early in February. Yea! Can’t […]

The Sunday Post #55

Greetings you guys! How is your Sunday? Good to see South Africa hit the International Head Lines once again. We truly are on a roll here! I just hope that Omicron’s nickname is not going to become The Grinch. Yes, we are safe and okay and we pray that our current vaccines can withstand the test of time. Lots of memes going around the last couple of days again. This one is our favorite: How are things in your bookish lives? My Mommy is trying very hard not to buy any new books and she stays away from all the tempting online sites. We are sooooo far behind on our reading this year, although Goodreads says we are just about done with our highest reading challenge ever. But when we got this one in the inbox, we both squealed with pleasure! Kit and Pearl are back and just in time for Christmas and no virus or Grinch can take that away. Scratching the Blog Pole Sorry we missed you guys last week, it’s been a crazy Sunday. My Mommy really has the best of intentions to be better prepared for her blog posts next year. She didn’t manage it this year, […]

The Sunday Post #54

Greetings you guys! How has life been treating you lately? Who agrees that this year can start the countdown to reset any day now? My Mommy was wondering if we should join this year’s Ho-Ho-Ho Readathon that kicks off on Thursday. She finally made her mind up and yes, we will be joining in the Christmas cheer. |We even have a short list of books we hope to read this season.  It’s time for the Christmas Spirit. Who cares if it’s way to early. Who else is joining? South Africa has made international headlines once again, this time on the literacy front (for a welcome change). Lets start with the good news. And the sad news for the whole world, but especially for South Africans today, is the passing of Wilbur Smith. My Mommy wasn’t the biggest fan of his work, but Daddy has read a few of his books and loved it. That is an amazing accomplishment. I know a lot of South Africans who don’t know books and authors very well, but here, in his home country, Wilbur Smith is a household name.  May he rest in peace. I know we’ve been absent a lot lately, but the […]

The Sunday Post #52

Greetings Humans! Spring once again decided to allude us the last 2 two days. It’s cold and rainy and miserable out there. Perfect weather for Fraterfest 2021. How’s your Fraterfest Read-a-thon going? We are having loads of fun with one book, one bag of speckled eggs, one packet of mini cupcakes and 3 cups of hot chocolate done. How was your week? School and Ballet classes started with a bang on Monday and we didn’t do much more this week than trying to get back into rhythm. It is good to be back yes, but my Mommy’s nerves are wrecked. The last term of the year is terribly short and there are heaps of work that still need to be cramped in. If I was her, I would have just thrown in the towel now and read the remainder of the year. Next year she can try again. Adding to the litter We got two books for review this week. Two completely different books, but that’s the way we like it. The Dangerous Promise by Merryn Allingham is just my Mommy’s cup of tea. Best part of all, it’s the first in a series. Little Wanderers: The Everlasting Seasons is […]

The Sunday Post #51

Greetings you Guys! How are you all on this gorgeous Sunday? My apologies for being absent for the last two weeks, but as you can see, it was well worth it. Welcome to ElzaReads.com!!! I know, I know, it’s fabulous. Of course it’s all my ideas and craftiness. Okay, that’s stretching the truth a bit far. Even for a cat. As we’ve told you 3 weeks ago, we’ve decided to migrate to WordPress and to ask the lovely Ashley @ Nosegraze if we can please host with her. (I have no idea what she looks like, but she has to be pretty and I’m sure she has a gorgeous cat as well) That was one of the best decisions we have ever made. Ashley took care of about 80% of everything you currently see and the rest was done by me. Okay, what’s wrong with me today. I just can’t seem to pull off a lie. No, it wasn’t me. But it wasn’t Mommy either. So there. My Mommy has this beautiful colleague that she works with (I do know what she looks like and she really is very pretty with the most gorgeous eyes) who is brilliant with computers […]

The Sunday Post #49

Greetings you guys. Today has been the first day of sunshine this week. It’s been a dark and miserable week and my Mommy has a bit of dark cloud overhead.  We are sure by now just about all of you from across the globe has heard of the tragic events in New Zealand on Thursday. This is such a tragedy. My Mommy actually knows this poor Momma and her husband as they have a mutual friend and also shared the same fertility doctor in  Pretoria, SA. It’s just terrible and we are at a loss of words. Nobody knows what really happened here, let’s just continue to pray for this Mother and Father and hold them in our thoughts. Adding to the Litter We didn’t go overboard again this week. My Mommy went to buy some new books for the kids at school and this one she brought home. She says she wants to read it first! Have any of you read a book on Pigeonhole.com before? My Mommy has done it years ago and then somehow it got lost in between all the apps on her phone. After a recent update, there it was again and lo and behold, her account […]
